The rocker is recovering from a triple health crisis and now has his sights on getting 100 percent healthy – and that means having a recently diagnosed hole in his heart repaired.

The Poison star discovered he had a heart problem after suffering a mild stroke last week.

Michaels tells Access Hollywood, “They’ll (surgeons) go in and they’ll do the heart operation in the fall. They have to let everything clear out and then they’ll go in and do the operation in my heart and then I’m gonna be great.

“I don’t have any other options except to think that it’s gonna be great, it’s gonna be a smooth operation and I’m gonna feel awesome.”

In the past month, the brave star has fought back from an emergency appendectomy and a brain hemorrhage – as well as last week’s stroke.

He admits the brain hemorrhage, in particular, was “one of the scariest moments in my life”.

Michaels ignored his doctor’s advice to rest and showed up for the televised live finale of hit reality TV show The Apprentice in New York on Sunday.

The rocker, who won the business contest outright, says, “I just made the decision I have to set a goal in my life and yes, they (doctors) were very adamant that this is not the best thing to do… (but) it rocked.”

Bret Michaels made it to the finish line Sunday of “The Celebrity Apprentice” despite life-threatening illness and was rewarded with victory and $250,000 for charity.

“You’ve done an amazing job in every single way,” Donald Trump said before announcing his choice on a live segment of NBC’s reality show. “A little flaky, but that’s OK. … You’ve also proven … to be very brave. I appreciate that.”

The other finalist, actress Holly Robinson Peete, has been “amazing,” Trump said, and then rendered his decision.

“Holly, I have to tell you, we all love you. And Brett, I have to tell you – you’re hired,” Trump pronounced, drawing a lusty “whoop” from Michaels.

Michaels’ appearance on the finale, which included live and taped segments, had been in question after he suffered a brain hemorrhage in April and was hospitalized again recently after suffering what doctors called a warning stroke. He faces surgery for a hole in his heart.

Trump didn’t downplay the drama involving Michaels’ health, asking the 47-year-old rock star of Poison fame if he was risking his life by coming on the finale against his doctors’ advice.

“Lately it seems like me just standing me up is risking my life,” Michaels replied, lightly, adding that it was worth the risk and he “came to win.” He walked haltingly and with a slight limp.

His presence brought a moment of honest reality to a carefully constructed TV genre.

After the show, Michaels said he’d been through a rough period but added, “I’ve got to be honest. I feel great right now.”

“You have no idea how bad I want to cut loose and party, and there’s about eight texts (messages) saying, `Do not drink, do not party,’” he said. “The fact that I won … and to just hang out with my friends, that’s a party enough.”

During the broadcast, Robinson Peete, 45, said she and Michaels had become close during the series and there would be none of last season’s animosity – a reference to finale fireworks between winner Joan Rivers and runner-up Annie Duke.

Robinson Peete teared up when she and Michaels took the stage before a studio audience in New York.

“Holly, that’s so beautiful. You’re crying,” Trump observed.

“Well, I mean, who in America isn’t?” she replied. Trump said that he’d never cried for his opponent.

“My 5-year-old son woke up this morning and said, ‘Mom, I love you, but I’m kinda pulling for Bret.’ How do you beat that?” Robinson Peete responded.

Both celebrities, who were playing to raise money for their favored causes, came out on top. Michaels, who as a child was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, claimed the winner’s prize for the American Diabetes Association, and Peete learned that her charitable group would receive a matching amount.

Trump said the maker of Snapple beverages had agreed to give a matching $250,000 to HollyRod Foundation, whose mission is to support families who have a loved one with a serious medical condition. The actress has a son diagnosed as autistic.

The final challenge for “The Celebrity Apprentice” had required Michaels and Robinson Peete to each create a new flavor of Snapple and a marketing campaign for the soft drinks. Their versions are being sold for a limited period and highlight their causes.

This season of “Celebrity Apprentice” began airing in March with 14 contestants, each competing in business-oriented tasks around Manhattan to raise money for and publicize their favorite causes.

Bret Michaels is expected to attend the season finale of “The Celebrity Apprentice” despite suffering what doctors called a warning stroke earlier this week.

His publicist, Joann Mignano, said the rocker is receiving outpatient care and will be in in New York on Sunday for the season’s final episode of the NBC show.

Mignano previously confirmed Michaels had been diagnosed with a patent foramen ovale, or hole in the heart.

Doctors said the condition is operable and treatable and likely unrelated to the brain hemorrhage he suffered last month.

The 47-year-old, rocker-reality TV star was hospitalized this week after experiencing numbness on the left side of his body, particularly in his face and hands.

Bret Michaels is back in the hospital.

The rocker and reality TV star suffered what doctors call a “warning stroke” and has been diagnosed with a patent forum ovale, or hole in the heart, according to a report Thursday on his website. Michaels’ publicist, Joann Mignano, confirmed the report.

Michaels was hospitalized after experiencing numbness on the left side of his body, particularly in his face and hands.

Doctors said the condition is operable and treatable and likely unrelated to the brain hemorrhage the 47-year-old suffered last month.

Michaels’ neurosurgeon said that while the Poison frontman has a “fantastic attitude” about making a full recovery, “Bret’s brain and body are not quite 100 percent yet, especially with the hole found in his heart.”

Additional tests were being conducted to determine the best course of treatment. Doctors said Michaels is currently being treated with a daily injection of a blood thinner to reduce the risk of clots.

His website said Michaels was “up, walking, talking, continuing his daily rehab and very happy to be alive.”

“He has made it clear he is sick and tired of being in the hospital and is ready to rock again,” the site says.

Michaels was expected to appear at Sunday’s finale of Donald Trump’s “The Celebrity Apprentice” in New York. NBC said in a statement that the network is “cautiously optimistic” that Michaels can attend the live season finale.

“Ultimately, it’s up to Bret and his doctors if he should attend,” the statement said.

In the episode, Trump’s boardroom revelation of the winner will air live. The rest of the show was taped last year, including the final challenge segment.

Bret Michaels will reportedly return to the road after suffering a near-fatal brain hemorrhage at the end of the month.

The Poison frontman was forced to scrap a string of shows due to the hemorrhage and a previous appendectomy – but now he’s keen to get back onstage and will perform at Biloxi, Mississippi’s Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on May 28, 2010.

A spokesman for the venue tells local newspaper the Sun Herald, “We’re very excited. He’s been coming to us since 2007, and he’s come back every year. We’re excited he’s in good health and that he’s starting his comeback tour with us.”

Poison frontman Bret Michaels thought a burglar shot him in the back of the head when he suffered a brain hemorrhage last month that left him in intensive care for nearly two weeks.

The outspoken 47-year-old contestant on NBC’s “The Celebrity Apprentice” told People magazine that the subarachnoid hemorrhage “sounded like a handgun, like it literally popped.”

“It made my mind go almost blank,” he said. “My neck tensed up. I couldn’t move my head at all.”

Michaels said after he experienced the sensation, he began pacing his living room then asked his girlfriend, Kristi Gibson, to take him to the emergency room.

“I knew I was slurring my words, and I was like ‘OK, this isn’t a headache. There’s something really bad happening,’” he said.

Michaels recalled asking an emergency room doctor if he was going to die, and if he had a chance to survive, he didn’t want his two daughters, 9-year-old Raine Elizabeth and 5-year-old Jorja Bleu, “to see me in this condition.”

Michaels was recovering from his April 12 emergency appendectomy at the at his Scottsdale, Ariz., home he shares with Gibson and their two daughters when he felt the severe headache.

He was admitted into a hospital April 22 and was later diagnosed with a subarachnoid hemorrhage, which causes bleeding in the fluid-filled spaces around the base of the brain.

Dr. Joseph Zabramski said at a Tuesday news conference that Michaels was expected to make a full recovery.

Michaels will receive therapy and will probably continue to suffer from severe pain for another seven to 10 days as blood pooled under his brain dissolves, said Zabramski, chief of cerebrovascular surgery at the Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix.

“I’m a believer it’s a combination of will and good faith,” Michaels said. “Will – and good medical attention – and faith. It just wasn’t my time yet. I really believe that. If I had stayed on the couch for another hour, that probably would’ve done me in. In a weird way, God intervened: The appendicitis forced me to come home for a couple of days.”

The magazine said Michaels moved to a physical therapy rehabilitation facility on April 30.

Michaels, one of the five stars remaining on the business-themed reality TV show “The Celebrity Apprentice,” said he plans to make a “positive bucket list” and wants to “continue to rock the world, and I want to continue to love my family and be a good father.”
