The Hollywood Hills home where Brittany Murphy and her husband Simon Monjack died within months of each other is set to be sold at auction on Monday morning.

The Clueless star died suddenly in December, 2009 after suffering a cardiac arrest at her California residence.

Murphy’s devastated mother Sharon, who lived with the couple at the mansion, put the house on the market in March 2010 – only to remove it from sale a month later.

The family was hit with another tragedy when Murphy’s husband Monjack passed away weeks later in May. Bizarrely, both husband and wife died of pneumonia combined with anemia.

Now Sharon Murphy has decided to move away from the bad memories and is set to put the house under the hammer in an auction at a courthouse in Pomona, California.

According to TMZ.com, court documents show there is still over $4 million owed on the house, which fetched an asking price of $7.25 million last year.

Sharon Murphy is still struggling to cope with the loss of her daughter – who died of pneumonia last December aged 32 – and son-in-law Simon Monjack, who passed away just five months later, and tried to pretend the double tragedy never happened.

She said: “It’s beyond strange. I don’t have answers for it. Sometimes just in order to function, I pretend it didn’t happen.”

Sharon lived with the pair in their Beverly Hills home and has remained there to feel close to the couple.

She explained to In Touch Weekly magazine: “I feel their presence here. It’s comforting.”

Brittany’s mother – who keeps her daughter’s bedroom exactly as it was before she died – has found her death especially difficult because they relied on each other for everything.

She explained: “I’m always remembering times with her. She would always say that we grew up together, and that’s true. We were so close, and such great friends.”

In order to help with her grief, Sharon is working on a memoir about her daughter and focusing on her charity work for the Brittany Murphy Foundation which funds arts programs for underprivileged children.

She said: “A portion of the proceeds that I receive from the book will be donated to charity.”

Brittany Murphy’s husband Simon Monjack died from pneumonia, the same illness that killed his actress wife months earlier, coroner’s officials said Wednesday.

Monjack, 40, had a slightly enlarged heart and some prescription medications were found in his body, but not at levels that contributed to his death, Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said.

Monjack was found dead May 23 at the Hollywood Hills home he shared with his actress wife and her mother. Officials initially suspected a heart attack and confirmed Wednesday that Monjack died of natural causes.

Winter said the deaths of British-born screenwriter and Murphy had been referred to county health officials since they died of pneumonia, but did not know if an investigation was ongoing. The health department declined comment.

A list of medications was not immediately available but would be included in a full report issued in about two weeks, Winter said.

Murphy, star of films such as “Clueless” and “8 Mile,” died in December and coroner’s officials determined she died of a combination of pneumonia and that anemia and prescription medications played a role.

Winter says both their deaths were likely preventable.

“In simple English – they didn’t take care of themselves,” Winter said. “They didn’t seek medical advice from a doctor. Brittany could have survived if she had gone to a hospital and Simon I think could have done the same.”

Simon Monjack’s death just got a little more mysterious.

It turns out Brittany Murphy’s husband, who was found dead on May 24 just five months after his wife, had two children from previous relationships.

The 39-year-old’s secret brood was discovered after Monjack’s family went through his computer.

Monjack’s mother, brother and therapist took the screenwriter’s laptop after staying with Murphy’s mom at his house last week.

They found emails from two women asking Monjack for child support.

According to website TMZ.com, the screenwriter had a daughter by one woman and a son by another.

Murphy reportedly filed a theft report with police after discovering her son-in-law’s property had gone AWOL.

Meanwhile, Monjack’s family has passed the computer on to investigators, who are now reviewing its contents.

Monjack was found dead in the same Los Angeles home where his wife, actress Brittany Murphy, had died. He appeared to have passed away from a heart attack after delaying surgery to repair a heart condition.

Coroner’s officials won’t be releasing Monjack’s official cause of death for weeks pending toxicology reports.

Murphy died on December 20 at the age of 32 from pneumonia complicated by iron deficiency, anemia and drug intoxication.

Upon his wishes, Monjack was laid to rest next to his wife at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills.

Brittany Murphy’s widower Simon Monjack was in need of a heart bypass when he suffered a fatal cardiac arrest on Sunday night.

The actress’ mother, Sharon, found Monjack unconscious in the master bedroom of the Hollywood Hills home he once shared with his late wife, and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Los Angeles police have launched an investigation into the 39-year-old Brit’s passing, but officials announced on Monday there were “no signs of foul play or any criminal activity involved”.

Medication prescribed to Monjack was found on the property but the Los Angeles County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter has refused to comment on reports suggesting the writer suffered a drug overdose until results from toxicology tests are returned.

However, Monjack’s spokesman, Roger Neal, doubts there is any truth to the overdose claims, because the Brit had been putting off heart surgery for some time.

Neal tells People.com, “I don’t believe he had an overdose… Simon needed a (heart) bypass.

“I was told he needed a bypass, and I said to him, ‘Simon, you have so much going on, let’s keep you healthy.’ I said, ‘You want to be healthy. Don’t you?’ He said yes, but he said, ‘The bypass can wait.’ I don’t know how much of an emergency it was. The doctors would have made him get it immediately if he needed it, but Sharon confirmed with me he did need a bypass.

“As far as empty (pill) bottles, I don’t know anything about that. If you have a heart condition you’re going to have prescription medication for yourself. You’re going to be on some kind of medicine.”

Neal insists Monjack never released details of his condition to the press because he didn’t want the extra media attention the news would attract.

The rep adds, “They didn’t make it public because he had so much going on.”

Clueless star Murphy died at the same Hollywood Hills property in December 2009.

Simon Monjack – who was left devastated when his actress wife died last December aged just 32 – was discovered unconscious by Brittany’s mother Sharon at his Los Angeles home last night at around 9.30pm.

She immediately dialled 911 but Simon, 39, was pronounced dead by paramedics after attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

It is believed he suffered a heart attack and his passing is being treated by Los Angeles police as unexplained.

A death investigation is now underway, according to website TMZ.

Following Brittany’s death on December 20, the British screenwriter – who was left out of her will – had spoken out about their life together saying they were planning to start a family.

He said: “She knew her career wasn’t in the best place. She was ready to kind of be a mother and that was what a lot of the talk was about.

“We were discussing children the night before she passed. We were discussing baby names. A boy would have been Oliver and a girl would have been Sophie. That was the plan, to move to New York and to start a family.”

He also revealed how he felt “vindicated” by her autopsy report after the enquiry into her death showed she had no history of drug abuse.

He said: “Although Brittany’s autopsy report was incredibly shocking and sad to the family – her mother Sharon Murphy and I both shed tears – we are vindicated in that we always said Brittany never did any kind of illegal substances and that the medication she was taking was the medication found in her system. We hope now that people will understand the legacy of Brittany Murphy and the incredible body of work of Brittany Murphy.

“I am so sad that we are living in a culture of rumor and I just wish that people would understand that sometimes out of every tragedy can come some good.”

Actress reportedly filled prescription for 120 Vicodin pills days before her death, and only 11 were left when she was found collapsed in her home.

Troubled starlet Brittany Murphy filled a prescription for the painkiller Vicodin just 11 days before her death late last year but 109 pills were missing when she was found collapsed in her home Dec. 20, The New York Post reported Saturday, citing a coroner’s office report.

The official cause of death has been ruled pneumonia and drug intoxication. The report says the 32-year-old “8 Mile” actress was issued 120 pills of Vicodin on Dec. 9, and only 11 were left in the bottle when she suddenly died at her Los Angeles home.

The gossip Web site TMZ is also reporting Saturday that the LA coroner’s office can’t locate the doctor who issued the prescription.

It isn’t clear why Murphy was prescribed the painkiller. Vicodin is supposed to be taken no more than four times daily, the site reported, making the max she should have taken in that time would be 44 instead of 109.

The coroner’s office has Murphy’s death an accident, and said she died of pneumonia and drug intoxication. “Iron deficiency anemia” was also cited as a cause.

TMZ is also reporting that coroner’s officials have reached out to Murphy’s husband, Simon Monjack, to help locate the missing doctor, but came away empty handed.

Severe anemia left actress Brittany Murphy weakened and vulnerable to pneumonia and the prescription medications she was using to treat it, according to an autopsy report released Thursday.

The report stated Murphy’s menstrual period contributed to her anemia and left her in a weakened state and vulnerable to infection. It also contributed the effects that a host of drugs, including hydrocodone and acetaminophen, had on the 32-year-old actress, according to the report.

Coroner’s officials had already concluded Murphy’s death was accidental, but likely preventable. She died after collapsing in her Hollywood Hills home on Dec. 20.

The report notes that the medications found in Murphy’s system were consistent with treatment of a cold or respiratory infection. Murphy’s mother and husband had reported the actress was ill with flu-like symptoms in the days before her death.

An autopsy found no evidence that Murphy abused drugs. Investigators found numerous prescription medications in the actress’ home, which she shared with her mother, Sharon, and husband, Simon Monjack.

The actress was taking anti-seizure medications and hydrocodone, the report said.

Murphy had been complaining of severe abdominal pain for seven to 10 days before her death. The report states her family thought it was a result of her menstrual period, which they told investigators was often severe.

The “Clueless” and “8 Mile” star had a doctor’s appointment scheduled, but died before her appointment, Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter has said.

Attempts to reach Monjack or Sharon Murphy on Thursday were unsuccessful.

The autopsy report noted Murphy suffered from diabetes and had to go to the hospital for treatment in Oregon in April 2009. The report found her to be otherwise healthy.

Monjack said in an interview in January that he and Murphy were planning a family and contemplating a move to New York before her death. He said his wife had been taking anti-seizure medications after a health episode she experienced while filming “8 Mile.”

Her big screen roles diminished after 2005′s “Sin City,” but Murphy had been juggling several movie projects in the months before her death.

Officials at the foundation set up in Brittany Murphy’s name following her death in December 2009 have vowed to hand back all donations – after reporters discovered it is not registered as an official charity.

The Clueless star’s husband Simon Monjack created The Brittany Murphy Foundation in honour of the actress – who died of a cardiac arrest aged 32 – in a bid to raise funds for art education.

But TMZ.com reports that the foundation is in name only – as it has not legally registered as a charity with the state of California.

Following requests for comment by TMZ.com, the website was suspended on Friday before going back online – carrying the additional message, “(The foundation) is a private foundation. And is currently awaiting its non-profit status.

“Until we have our non-profit status approved before proceeding to insure that we can truly honor Brittany’s charitable desires… any donations made up until this point will be returned until we have all our paperwork solidified.”

Monjack had planned a charity gala for the launch of the Foundation earlier this month, charging $1,000 per individual and $10,000 for corporations to attend the event, but cancelled the bash at the last minute.
