The body of socialite and Johnson & Johnson heiress Casey Johnson will be flown east for a private funeral, a family spokesman said Wednesday.

Johnson, 30, will be laid to rest later this week in a service attended by immediate family, family spokesman Jesse Derris said. He declined to provide the location or any additional details.

Johnson, whose father is New York Jets owner Robert “Woody” Johnson, was found dead in her Los Angeles home on Monday. An autopsy conducted Tuesday was inconclusive and the cause of her death was deferred pending results of toxicology tests, which could take a month or more.

“The family asks for a measure of privacy over the next several days as they mourn their loss. No other information will be released at this time,” said a family statement released Tuesday.

Johnson had been an insulin-dependent diabetic since childhood but it was not immediately clear whether that contributed to her death. A memorial fund in her name was set up with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Johnson, dubbed the “baby-oil heiress” by the New York Post, lived her life on the tabloid pages. She partied with high school friend and fellow heiress Paris Hilton and announced last month that she was “engaged” to bisexual reality TV star Tila Tequila.

Johnson was charged last month with burglary and receiving stolen property for allegedly taking $22,000 in clothing, jewelry and other items from a friend’s home. She pleaded not guilty and faced a February hearing.

She is survived by her parents, two younger sisters, and an adopted child she named Ava-Monroe, after her idol, Marilyn Monroe.

“Woody is a buttoned-up guy, he maintains a tough exterior, but he’s devastated by this,” a family friend said.

Johnson, whose brother Keith died of a drug overdose in 1975, feared the same thing would happen to daughter Casey Johnson.

“He saw her as being out of control,” a friend of Casey’s aunt Elizabeth (Libet) Johnson told The News. Johnson and his ex-wife, Sale, tried some tough love on their wayward daughter, even cutting off her money.

“It’s hitting him hard,” the friend said. “He and Sale spent years trying to get her on track. But she’d walk out of rehab. They were finally at wit’s end.”

Casey, 30, reveled in being the black sheep of the family.

“Woody wanted only the best for Casey, but he didn’t approve of her antics,” said the friend. “The family wanted privacy; she sought the limelight. She did not fall in line, so to speak.”

Among other things, Johnson took a dim view of Casey’s announcing her engagement to reality-TV star Tila Tequila in an online video – while both were clad in bras and panties.

Club owner John Flanagan, a friend of Casey since age 5, told Access Hollywood she was “on the right path,” and planning to return to New York before meeting the 4-foot-11 Tequila, whom he called media hungry and a negative influence.

Casey was found dead in her bed Monday when her maid came to clean her West Hollywood home. Sources said she may have been there for days.

Her family “desperately tried to help her,” friend Jasmine Lennard told RadarOnline.com. “There was a car ready 24 hours a day to take her to the best rehab facility in the country.”

But after Lennard had Casey arrested in November for breaking into her Hollywood apartment, “she had nobody and was lost,” Lennard said.

Preliminary autopsy results showed no evidence of trauma, the county coroner reported.

The heiress was a diabetic – in addition to having a drinking and drug problem – and her family believes her condition must have played a role in her demise. Investigators are awaiting the results of toxicological tests before they announce the cause of death.

Chief investigator Craig Harvey said the probers found insulin syringes in Casey’s bedroom but have not pinpointed when she died.

A private funeral for Casey will be held later this week for immediate family, a spokesman said Tuesday night in a statement.

Tragic baby-shampoo heiress Casey Johnson spent the last months of her life in a suicidal drug haze, living in squalor, surrounded by hangers-on and cut off from her family fortune, those close to her said yesterday.

The 30-year-old Johnson & Johnson scion, who was found dead in LA on Monday, had gone from being in line to a multibillion-dollar fortune to living in a garbage-filled, rented house with no electricity, water or gas — but with rats in the pool — as she battled illness and emotional demons.

“She was very sick with diabetes and would often fail to take her insulin correctly, and was rushed to the hospital three or four times in the last six months,” a source close to Johnson said.

Still, while a family source acknowledged that Johnson “had two specific incidents in the last year where she was taken to intensive care with diabetic comas . . . it was nothing to do with not taking her insulin.”

“She had an insulin pump that delivered her medicine automatically,” the source insisted.

“Recently, her diabetes became brittle, or labile, which meant that the insulin was becoming less effective, and her body was developing a tolerance to it. She was always at risk for going into a diabetic coma,” the source said.

Johnson’s downward spiral began gaining speed late last year. There was an episode in which her former girlfriend Courtenay Semel allegedly set her hair on fire.

Johnson was also busted for grand theft for breaking into and swiping items from a friend’s home, and her adopted daughter was wrested away from her by her concerned mother.

Friends said Johnson coped by self-medicating — popping copious amounts of OxyContin, Klonopin and Adderall, as well as drugs, such as marijuana, ecstasy and cocaine.

Her family persuaded her to go into rehab a few months ago, but she checked out early and refused to go back.

Things got so bad that in November, Johnson tried to commit suicide, sending a text message to her Semel, saying, “I’ve taken a lot of pills, and I’m going to sleep forever,” friends said.

Semel — whose father is former Yahoo! CEO Terry Semel — called an ambulance, and Johnson was in the intensive-care unit for three days.

Her desperate cry for help came not long after close pal Jasmine Lennard accused the hopped-up heiress of breaking into her Los Angeles home and stealing thousands of dollars worth of clothes and jewelry and leaving a vibrator in her bed.

When Johnson — daughter of New York Jet owner Woody Johnson — was arrested, her anxious mother, Sale Johnson, hoped the incident would drive her to get help, her friends said, but it was in vain.

“When Casey was arrested for grand theft, her family and her friends thought this would be the catalyst for her to finally get the help she really needed,” one pal said. “They wanted to get her into a psychiatric hospital. But she was bailed out by a friend and went back to her old ways.”

A friend added, “Her family were giving her tough love and said she was cut off unless she went into [rehab]. They did everything they could to help her, but she wouldn’t help herself.”

The notorious shopaholic returned to her rented LA home — where she lived without utilities because she was unable to pay her bills — and kept her Porsche hidden in the garage so it couldn’t be repossessed. All the while, the grounds were overrun by vermin.

“It was like ‘Grey Gardens,’ ” a source said last month. “There are dirty dishes everywhere and rotting food. There is graffiti on the walls. The pool looks like a swamp.”

As Johnson sank into a sickening world of drugs, she surrounded herself with an ominous group of lowlifes.

Neighbors said there was a revolving door of shady-looking characters at Johnson’s house — whose gate was inscribed with the name “Grumblenot.”

“I saw very trendy, rock-and-roll, seedy types coming in there at all hours of the night,” said a neighbor.

In her dark pit of drugs and despair, Johnson claimed she had found love — running into the arms of D-lister Tila Tequila.

The two announced last month that they were engaged to be married in a disturbing online video in which both lay in their underwear — Johnson in a noticeable state of stupefaction.

“[Tequila] was taking advantage of a sick girl. Casey would never have done that had she been in her right mind,” one friend said. “She looked totally out of it in the video.”

The last anyone heard from Johnson was in the early morning of Dec. 29, when she posted a tweet on Twitter: “Sweet dreams everyone.”

Her body was found six days later.

The Los Angeles Coroner’s Office said an initial autopsy was inconclusive, although there appeared to be no evidence of suicide or trauma to her body.

As for drugs in the home, there was “an insignificant” amount of prescription pills, law-enforcement sources told TMZ.

Toxicology tests could take up to six weeks.

Johnson’s New Jersey-based family yesterday said in a statement that it had arranged for “Casey to be flown back east to her final resting place.” There will be a private funeral service this week.

They have already set up a memorial fund in her honor with the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, and urged people to donate.

“Casey struggled throughout her life fighting this disease, and she would want to see all of us continue that fight on her behalf,” the statement said.

Troubled heiress Casey Johnson had lots of celebrity friends, but she died alone in bed and it was days before anybody noticed she was gone.

“Sweet dreams everyone,” the 30-year-old socialite Tweeted at 1:12 a.m. on Dec. 29. “I’m getting a new car.”

Seven days later, a maid let out a scream when she found Johnson’s body in her West Hollywood pad.

Johnson, whose father, Woody, owns the New York Jets, had been dead for several days, TMZ.com reported, citing Los Angeles law enforcement sources.

A diabetic with a drinking and drug problem who was twice hospitalized after falling into comas, Johnson’s apartment was littered with insulin syringes, TMZ.com reported.

The Los Angeles County corner’s office will do an autopsy to determine what killed Johnson, but it was a lonely end for a young woman who lived so much of her life chasing the spotlight.

A beautiful blonde lesbian, Johnson recently announced her engagement to bisexual reality TV star Tila Tequila, 28, in an online video.

Tequila, according to MTV.com and other reports, last saw Johnson on New Year Eve. She confirmed the death of “my Wifey Casey Johnson” in a Twitter message after Johnson’s body was found.

Paris Hilton, who was one of Johnson’s party pals, also Tweeted her grief, writing: “I feel like I’ve lost a sister.”

Johnson’s dad was savoring the Jets’ triumphant wild card berth in the NFL playoffs when he got the devastating news.

“The Johnson family is mourning its tragic loss and asks for privacy during this very difficult time,” a spokesman for the heir to the Johnson & Johnson empire said.

Johnson’s death closed the book on the life of an upper East Side rich girl, who grew up in the lap of luxury and was pals of Paris and Nicky Hilton, the godmother of Johnson’s adopted daughter.

“I’ve known Casey since I was a baby,” Paris Hilton told Life & Style magazine. “She had a big heart and she was a good friend. I feel so sad, I don’t want to believe it. My condolences go out to her family and loved ones.”

Johnson moved to L.A. eight years ago and quickly became fodder for gossip columns as the hard-partying heiress to the Johnson & Johnson fortune.

In addition to battling addictions to drugs and alcohol that several trips to rehab failed to conquer, the heiress was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes as a little girl, a friend told the Daily News.

“Of course, the drinking and drug-taking didn’t help,” the friend said. “She was active in raising public awareness about juvenile diabetes, but she abused her own body.”

he friend said Johnson’s parents were at a loss as to how to help straighten her life out.

“They supported her lifestyle for a long time, but, lately, they’d been keeping their distance from her, trying to show some tough love,” the friend said. “I’m sure they’re devastated and racked with guilt.”

Johnson and her mother, Sale, were often at odds. When Sale Johnson married former NFL great Ahmad Rashad in 2007, her daughter didn’t show up for the wedding.

Still, in an interview that same year, Johnson sounded like she was turning her life around, announcing she had founded a skin care line called Journey.

She also discussed her adoption of a daughter, Ava, now 3, from Kazakhstan early in 2007.

Johnson told LXTV she was determined not to spoil her daughter like she was as a child.

“When she gets to be like 8, 9, 10, 11 years old, and she says, ‘Mommy, I want this,’ she’s not going to get everything she wants,” Johnson said. “I did growing up, and when it was my turn to handle my own money it became a problem. I’m used to going to Bergdorf’s and having a personal shopper, and buying whatever I want and charging it to my dad.”

A friend said Johnson’s life seemed to be spiraling out of control after her mother took custody of her daughter to “get her out of harm’s way.”

She came to New York recently to battle to get her daughter back, but was hampered by finances that were in shambles.

Her father recently cut off her trust fund because she couldn’t sober up, friends said.

“She was a lost little girl who just wanted to be loved,” AOL’s PopEater columnist Rob Shuter, who had lunch with Casey about eight months ago, told The News.

“She had a difficult relationship with her family’s huge wealth. She loved the life it gave her, but it also made everything she did feel worthless.

“She once described her family money as the ‘golden handcuffs.’ She was the ultimate little, lost rich girl.”

In November, Casey was arrested on grand theft charges, accused of breaking into the Hollywood apartment of her ex-girlfriend, fashion model Jasmine Lennard.

“I tried to get her off drugs and alcohol,” Lennard recently said in a published report. “I tried to get her into a 12-step program. I tried to help take care of her daughter. I’ve given her money.”

Friends and neighbors of Woody Johnson at his home on Columbus Circle expressed shock at the death of a young woman who seemingly had it all.

Family friend, Suzanne Webster, called Casey “a sweet but troubled girl.”

“Her family was concerned over her well-being the past year,” Webster said. “She had given them pause with her behavior, but I don’t think anyone expected this.”

Q-tip heiress Casey Johnson missed her flight from LA to New York last week, but she and fiancée Tila Tequila still plan to try reclaiming Casey’s daughter, Ava, from her mother, Sale.

The bisexual Tila made it to NYC and was spotted Friday night at Raoul’s on Prince Street as the date of an unidentified man.

Meanwhile, reports persist that Casey has cash flow problems. “I met with her about six months ago and was shocked by what she said,” said one publicist. Casey, who wants to be the new “It” girl, expressed her jealousy of Paris Hilton’s fame and fortune, and said she was mystified by the success of the low-class Kardashians. “The problem is she doesn’t have any money,” said our source. “She didn’t pick up the check even though she asked to meet.” Casey responded, “Untrue. No idea what this is about.”

Baby-powder heiress Casey Johnson has flown to New York with her “fiancée,” Tila Tequila, to try to reclaim her daughter, Ava, from the custody of her mother, Sale Johnson, and bring the toddler back to LA.

Casey adopted the girl from Kazakhstan two years ago over the objections of her aunt, Libet Johnson, who built an orphanage in Cambodia. But Sale took custody earlier this year out of concern for little Ava’s safety.

“Casey is intent on getting her daughter back,” an acquaintance from LA said. But friends are distancing themselves from the increasingly erratic heiress.

“When I went to her rented house on Mulholland Drive recently, it was like Grey Gardens,” our source said. “There are dirty dishes everywhere and rotting food. There is graffiti on the walls. The pool looks like a swamp.”

Johnson’s father, New York Jet owner Woody Johnson, and the rest of the family recently restricted Casey’s access to funds because she repeatedly has refused to get the help they say she needs. She’s been in rehab several times but has never finished the programs.

“She can’t pay her bills, so the electricity was cut off. She can’t put gas in her car,” said our source. “She’s been keeping her Porsche in the garage because she’s afraid it will be repossessed.”

Tila and Casey announced their engagement this month with a video they posted online of themselves in bed wearing only bras and panties.

As Casey smiles in an apparent stupor, Tequila rants: “Look at this ring. Its 18-carat because my baby is ballin’. We are going to make love tonight for our honeymoon . . . She adopted a baby, Ava, and I love children. We already have a family. We are going to buy a house together and, once we get situated, throw an engagement party.”

Here come the brides!

Tila Tequila claims she is getting married to Johnson & Johnson heiress Casey Johnson.

Donning black lingerie, the bisexual MTV reality star sat alongside her fiancée Wednesday morning as she announced the news to her fans on a USTREAM video.

“Are you ready for this big announcement that’s going to change our lives?” Tequila, 27, asked. “This is exclusive and going to be all over the news tomorrow, but because I love you guys so much, we are giving you the exclusive first tonight. My girlfriend has asked me to marry her!”

The busty brunette then flashed her engagement finger, which held a “17-carat diamond ring from my baby,” she said.

“It’s so fat you can’t even see it!” Tequila (whose real name is Tila Nguyen) boasted. “My baby takes care of me. Beat that, J.Lo! Beat that, Khloe and Lamar!

“Casey Johnson and Miss Tila Tequila are now officially engaged. Woo!” she added.

Before skeptics can scoff, Tequila insisted her new bling is “not fake” because “ my baby is a f—— baller. She’s a bagil-gazillionaire! She is the heiress of Johnson & Johnson.”

Acknowledging that they have “a lot of work to do” to plan their nuptials, Tequila also dished about their growing family.

“We already have a family,” Tequila said of Johnson, who adopted a baby girl from Kazakhstan in 2007. “I love children. She has a daughter named Ava. I have a dog named Onyx. The next thing we are going to do is buy a house together, and once we get situated, we’re going to throw an engagement party.”

Tequila’s happy news comes after her drama with her ex-boyfriend, San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman, who she claims allegedly choked and unlawfully restrained her at his home. San Diego County District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis later dismissed her claims because of insufficient evidence.

Baby-oil heiress Casey Johnson is in such a state, her mother has taken Casey’s daughter and restricted Casey’s access to the family fortune, a former close friend of Johnson’s said.

The troubled heiress to the Johnson & Johnson fortune — and daughter of Jets owner Woody Johnson — is “too crazy” to care for her adopted daughter, Ava, who has been taken by Casey’s mother, Sale Johnson, according to her ex-best friend, British model Jasmine Lennard.

The “Make Me a Supermodel” star claimed a heartbroken Sale has cut Casey off until she goes into rehab. Lennard, who has accused Casey of burgling her apartment, said: “I had been caring for Ava for several months. Casey fired her nanny, then realized it was Nicky Hilton’s birthday party and had nobody to look after her. She asked if I could have Ava for the night, then didn’t come back for 10 days.

“Basically, she got bored of buying herself bags and shoes and bought herself a daughter from Kazakhstan in 2007, but was too crazy to look after her. Her mother, Sale, took Ava and brought her to New York, which is the best place for her.

“Casey basically needs to go into rehab for a long time. She has walked out [of treatment programs] twice against her parents’ wishes, so they told her no more money. The last time she left early a few months ago and wrote at the bottom of her exit form: ‘[Bleep] you — keep the money.’

“Her house on Mulholland Drive is a mess. The electricity is off, there are rats, the pool is green. She was supposed to be evicted and her Porsche is being repossessed.”

Casey was arrested Monday in Los Angeles on grand theft charges for allegedly stealing clothes, jewelry, shoes and legal documents from Lennard.

A Johnson family source said, “Casey is dealing with some serious medical and psychological issues. It’s a situation where she has to just take care of herself.” Casey and Sale didn’t respond to calls and e-mails.

Courtenay, daughter of ex-Yahoo boss Terry Semel, split with the Johnson & Johnson heiress recently after a series of explosive fights.

A source told us, “They love each other like crazy, but they drove each other crazy. It was too intense for both of them. They are both from powerful families, and both are used to getting what they wanted at all times, and it was very destructive.

After so many fights, Courtenay had to end it.” James Vituscka, a rep for Semel, said, “We are not going to comment.”
