Sources said they’ve been chatting about TV projects since being introduced by friends in LA.
Despite a false report in a downmarket magazine that Reinhardt was dating new Miss USA Rima Fakih, Reinhardt has in fact been getting friendly with her predecessor, at least over the phone.
Dalton has dated “The Bachelorette” star Reid Rosenthal on and off for seven months. Rosenthal was at the Miss USA Pageant at Planet Hollywood last weekend to support her, with a Tiffany gift in hand.
The reality TV star revealed his 14-month relationship with the hotel heiress is over but insists the break-up is amicable.
He said: “Despite what many of the uninformed tabloid journalists are saying, Paris and I met at her house last night and have decided to split.
“It’s unfortunate that things are being said about us that are inaccurate. I continue to wish her only the best.”
It has been previously claimed that Paris dumped Doug earlier this month as she was worried he was just using her to help his career.
The blonde socialite was said to have been furious after it was revealed he was to become a producer on a reality TV show for his sister and wanted her to take part.
A source said: “Paris never had any plans to participate in the reality show, but Doug was pressuring her to be a part of it, and she flatly refused. Without her involvement, it’s a no-go.”
The socialite reportedly called time on their 14-month romance recently, despite speculation they are planning to marry.
A source said: “Obviously she broke up with him.”
Paris, 29, was seen partying in Las Vegas last weekend and Doug was reportedly planning to fly out to see her on his way back from a family holiday to Aspen, but decided not to at the last minute.
The source added to E! Online: “He was in Aspen with his dad this weekend and was considering stopping by Vegas on the drive back, but changed his mind.
“I’m pretty sure that’s why he went to Aspen… to hide out and try to get over her.”
Paris chose to spend time with her parents, Kathy and Richard, at the weekend and even went clubbing in Vegas with them.
She tweeted: “Just packing my bags, going on a trip with my parents for a few days. I love spending time with my family, we have the best time… After dinner with the family, we all stopped by Tao. Had a great time dancing to DJ Reach. My parents are so much fun to hang out with.”
News of a split is sure to disappoint the families of Paris and 24-year-old Doug.
Earlier this year, the couple spent a week with his mother Kelly and stepfather Duane Roberts at a luxury villa on the Caribbean island of Anguilla, where the former ‘Hills’ star’s family were referring to Paris as “daughter-in-law”.
A source said at the time: “Paris and Doug looked like they were on a honeymoon. They would be on the beach for hours, just staring into each other’s eyes, kissing and laughing.
“At dinner Doug’s mom was overheard referring to Paris as her, ‘daughter-in-law’ and it’s pretty clear that Paris’ family feels the same way about Doug.”
After a night out in February with Doug and her parents, Paris tweeted about how pleased she was at how well they got on.
She wrote: “What a fun night! My mom and Doug were so cute dancing together! I love how my parents love my love! We all had a blast! Great night! (sic)”

But Reinhardt and Hilton will also appear on it, and insiders tell us there are hopes for wedding bells, which could bring a ratings bonanza similar to the one for Khloe Kardashian’s nuptials with Lamar Odom, which pulled in 3.2 million viewers last November.
An insider said, “Doug and Paris will also appear on the show, and E! bosses hope that an engagement will happen in the next six months.”
Reps for E! didn’t get back to us, but Reinhardt’s agent, Greg Weiss, confirmed, “Doug is producing the show, which will star his sister and her friends. But he and Paris will also make appearances.”

The insider adds, “She and Doug were looking all romantic by the end of the night.”

Paris Hilton surprised boyfriend Doug Reinhardt by popping out of a cake in a hot pink costume and black diamond mask at his birthday party Saturday at her Beverly Hills mansion.
