Her unfortunate ‘wardrobe malfunction’ at the Super Bowl half time show made headlines back in 2004, but Janet Jackson managed to keep her assets in check – well, only just – as she performed a concert in Taiwan on Friday.

The 44-year-old singer skin tight, extremely low cut rubber cat suit as she performed alongside an array of exotically clad dancers.

The futuristic shiny suit bought back memories of 2004 where the star infamously suffered a ‘wardrobe malfunction’ during her 2004 half time Super Bowl performance.

While singing alongside Justin Timberlake, she accidentally revealed her breast to 90 million viewers.

A spokesman for the star later explained that the incident ‘was not intentional. … He was supposed to pull away the bustier and leave the red-lace bra.’

Meanwhile, Janet is also promoting her book True You, which focuses on her self image and self esteem struggles.

There was a time when I was so down and felt so unattractive and it lasted for a very, very long time,’ she told Piers Morgan last week. ‘I used to bang my head against the wall.’

‘The person that I was with, my ex-husband at the time, I mean, he’d have to stop me,’ she added.

She also discussed her famous older brother Michael Jackson, calling him ‘very sweet, very gentle, incredibly smart, always about love.

‘He knew who he was,’ she said.

The city was chosen by fan votes as a start point for the ‘Janet Jackson Number Ones, Up Close and Personal’ tour on February 7, with the ‘Together Again’ hitmaker then moving on to Hong Kong for a performance on February 14.

She said in a statement: “It’s not about effects, it’s not an extravaganza, it’s not about being as big as in the past. This one is all about you and me. I love you Singapore. Let’s go!”

Janet will dedicate a song to each city she visits as part of the tour – which will see the songstress perform tracks exclusively from her ‘Number Ones’ album – and will also recognize 20 individuals from each city for enriching their communities.

According to the singer, the 35-date tour promises to be one of her most “intimate” to date.

She said: “The show will be more intimate and more personal than ever before.”

The ‘All For You’ singer is no longer interested in recording LPs as they no longer have the impact they once did and would rather make singles.

Her ex-boyfriend, producer Jermaine Dupri, said: “I can tell you that she’s not working on an album. We just did the one song ‘Nothing’ for the ‘Why Did I Get Married Too?’ soundtrack.

“Last time I heard she really didn’t want to do an album. She wanted to just do singles every once in a while. She’s looked at the marketplace -albums are not really doing what they usually do when you put all this budget out there. Janet is just trying to figure out her landscape.”

Janet is also concentrating on her acting career after recently starring in ‘Why Did I Get Married Too?’

Jermaine added in an interview with Vibe.com: “Janet’s cool. She has a lot of work going on that’s keeping her in the right direction. The movie came out, which is the biggest Tyler Perry movie he has had thus far. It looks like her star power as an actress is still there. And she’s about to do the other movie, ‘For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf’ with Mariah Carey, Kerry Washington and Whoopi Goldberg.”

Janet Jackson

Janet Jackson has agreed to take her late brother Michael’s place in the JACKSON 5 when the reformed sibling group embarks on a world tour later this year.

The singer was rumoured to be joining her brothers as a tribute to the King of Pop, who died last June, but has so far denied she will be taking part in the shows.

But now Janet is preparing to sing with the Jackson 5 on stage, according to her brother Jermaine.

He says, “We had a conference call and Janet has agreed to join us on tour.”

It’s filmed in black and white and she’s wearing futuristic clothing, so you would be forgiven for thinking you had seen Janet Jackson’s new music video before.

The way the three-minute movie for Make Me is shot is reminiscent of the Scream video the singer made with her late brother Michael in their 1995 collaboration.

It could be seen as a tribute to the King Of Pop, who was found dead in his Los Angeles home in June, aged 50.

Scream, which won a Grammy Award and was from Micheal’s album HIStory, was written by both siblings as a response to the media scrutiny he suffered from being accused of child sex abuse.

And, at $7million, it was the most expensive music video ever made.

In her latest effort, Janet, 43, returns to form with a fast-paced dance routine cut with shots of the youngest of the Jackson siblings in a white room, wearing a space-age white suit with metallic shoulder-pads.

The best-selling artist, who has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, struts her stuff in trademark modern routines, flanked by her stylish dancers.

Janet is about to release a two-disc set of her greatest hits, which includes the new single.

She will be performing a melody of her hit songs at the American Music Awards tomorrow night, which will see Michael honored after he was nominated for five awards.

A&M Records is putting a lot of effort — and a ton of money — into the promotion of Janet Jackson’s new greatest hits album, and with good reason. A source tells us the label quietly signed the pop star to a new recording contract last month.

“A&M wants this CD to remind people how great Janet is,” says a snitch. “They’re hoping it’ll whet the public’s appetite for Janet and pave the way for her new music.”

It’s a homecoming of sorts for Jackson — and perhaps an attempt to reclaim her glory days: She began her career at A&M at 16 and had her biggest U.S. hit under their management: “Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814″ moved a whopping 8.5 million units in 1989.

Unfortunately, Miz Jackson didn’t have quite the same luck at Virgin Records. She moved to the label in 1991 and started off with a handful of successful CDs, but 2004′s “Damita Jo” and 2006′s “20 Y.O.” tanked. A move to Def Jam last year didn’t help — her “Discipline” album proved to be one of
the biggest flops of her career, barely mining gold.

Just last night, she did an ABC interview in which she admitted that she tried to stage an intervention with Michael in 2007 and again earlier this year. She’s also spoken to Rolling Stone and Harper’s Bazaar since the King of Pop’s death.

At least A&M exec Jimmy Iovine isn’t deterred. Our source says he tapped music producer Rodney Jerkins — who has worked with everyone from Michael Jackson to Beyoncé — to oversee production on Janet’s upcoming album. The CD, which is in the early stages of recording, is expected to drop in the second quarter of 2010.

“Jimmy has given the mandate to make this Janet record a success,” says the insider. “He believes that he has the right team in place to finally take Janet back to the top of the music charts. It’s a top priority for the label.”

Janet Jackson says she recognized her brother Michael’s drug problem, and tried to help him, but that he rebuffed those attempts to intervene. “You can’t make ‘em drink the water,” Jackson told ABC News in an interview airing Wednesday. When asked if her brother was in denial about his addiction, she replied, “Possibly.”

“I wish he could answer this question for you and not me,” she told ABC’s Robin Roberts. “I felt that he was in denial.”

She blames Dr. Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson’s personal physician, for his death June 25.

Prosecutors in Los Angeles are weighing charges against Murray, who told police he administered a powerful anesthetic to the singer shortly before he died.

During the interview, the 43-year-old Janet Jackson spoke of her upcoming diet book, “True You,” which chronicles her lifelong struggle to control her weight.

She has gained some mastery over her self-image, she said, after years of “just picking yourself apart all the time because you’re so used to being kind of picked apart.”

She said she hasn’t seen “This Is It,” the new documentary film spotlighting her late brother as he prepared for the concert tour that would’ve taken place last summer.

“I definitely won’t, not right now,” she said. “I don’t know if I will ever see it.”

That’s the way love goes.

Despite reports that Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri are still a couple, the singer confirmed breakup rumors when she recently referred to him as her “ex.”

During a radio interview with Atlanta’s “Bert Show,” Jackson reveals that she has a very short list of ex-boyfriends with whom she still communicates.

“I’m not the type of girl that stays in touch with your ex like that,” the singer, 43, said.

However, Jackson said that Dupri, 37, is an exception.

“Jermaine is one of my best friends,” she said. “I love him to death. We’re still connected. We’re still good friends. We still talk.”

Following the tragic death of her brother Michael in June, Jackson and Dupri broke off their seven-year relationship. According to Usmagazine.com, the couple temporarily reunited in September to celebrate Dupri’s birthday in Lake Como, Italy.

When asked if the singer would ever marry again, Jackson – who has been married twice, as a teen to James DeBarge and in her 20s to choreographer René Elizondo – is skeptical.

“I don’t know if I’ll get married again,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. “I’ll put it like this: If God wants me to, then I will. I’ve had people ask me out. I haven’t entertained any offers thus far, but I’m locking myself in my work right now.”

As for her relationship with Dupri, Jackson says, “We’re there for one another. I think it will remain that way for the rest of my life.”
