Jessica Simpson may have looked happy hanging with girlfriends over the weekend, but her family is still worried about her.
The singer’s parents have been pushing her to go out and enjoy herself since her breakup from Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, People magazine reports.

But while she partied with some friends recently, Simpson may not be over her ex just yet.

“She feels she’s being judged by the world and opts to hide out at home,” a family friend revealed. “The family feels bad for Jessica. They worry for her a lot.”

It’s a role reversal for the older Simpson sister, whose sibling Ashlee seems to be happy with her life with husband Pete Wentz, and their baby boy Bronx Mowgli.

“The family used to have such faith in [Jessica] and they worried about Ashlee,” the family friend says. “Now they are fully confident in Ashlee’s choices and they worry most of their days about Jessica. It seems she just can’t catch a break.”
Before Romo reportedly ended things with Simpson the night before she turned 29, she suffered another rough patch concerning her fluctuating weight.

Simpson was slammed for wearing mom jeans onstage during a January concert, and was splashed across the covers of magazines for looking a chunky in them.

Despite the heartbreak, the singer isn’t diving into a tub of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. The singer, who is set to shoot her new VH1 reality show “The Price of Beauty,” was spotted leaving a personal training session yesterday in West Hollywood.

However since the split with Romo, Simpson’s been down, according to the family friend.

“She takes breakups really badly,” another Simpson source said. “She has a hard time letting go.”

Pop diva Jessica Simpson told Pop Tarts last year that she had the same dreams as “every normal person” to make records, babies and “hopefully get married soon.” But it looks like that won’t be happening any time soon with her now ex-boyfriend Tony Romo.

Simpson was undoubtedly suffering the 29th birthday blues on Friday having been dumped just the night before by longtime lover Romo, but a source close to Simpson told Tarts that the “sudden” split wasn’t so sudden after all.

“It was a long time coming, he hasn’t really been into her and the relationship for awhile, but stayed together because he didn’t want to look like a jerk for not having a better reason to break it off,” said our source. “And she’s trying to save face by saying that it’s because of their busy schedules.”

Another inside source said that Jessica’s manager/father Joe Simpson’s meddling ways most likely took its toll on the relationship, which is the reason why they split the first time fourteen months ago. We’re told Joe promised he’d take a step back when the couple reunited but he was still too involved in his daughter’s private life.

“At one point Joe was even giving Tony football advice which doesn’t go down well,” said an insider. “Tony was a football superstar before he got mixed up in Hollywood, this move will be probably be good at least for his career.”

And not to mention the pop princess/country crooner was eager to tie-the-knot again, something Romo apparently wasn’t ready to do.

So while Miss Simpson sought solace and spent the special birthday weekend with her folks, Romo partied like a rockstar at Hollywood hotspot MyHouse on Friday night with a pack of (mostly male) pals. According to an eyewitness, Romo and his entourage drank GreyGoose and took over the dance floor until the club closed and when some hot ladies approached their table Romo certainly didn’t shy away and happily chatted until the early hours.

Reps for Romo and Simpson declined to comment.

Jessica Simpson was excited to get all dolled up for her “Barbie and Ken”-themed birthday bash in L.A. on Friday night, but there was one problem: She had just lost her Ken.

The singer and her boyfriend of nearly two years, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, had split the night before her 29th birthday, causing a depressed Simpson to cancel her fete.

Jess didn’t make friends aware of the breakup and subsequent party cancellation until the afternoon of her big day – pal Emmy Rossum was still blithely tweeting at noon about her outfit for the shindig. Instead, the sad Simpson decided to spend the day not celebrating, but licking her wounds with her family and dogs.

“Jess was too heartbroken to have a big bash,” reveals a pal of the songbird. “She knows that she and Tony are broken up for good.”

It was Romo who called it quits, sources reveal. Although the couple looked happy just two weeks ago while attending a golf tournament in Bethesda, Md., the football stud was starting to get itchy about his freedom.

In fact, the night Romo was meant to be playing the perfect Ken, he was partying with a posse of guy friends at Hollywood hot spot MyHouse – and women were constantly stopping by his table. Says one clubgoer, “Tony was hanging out until 2 a.m. getting his flirt on. He was in great spirits and seemed very single.”

On Saturday, the player was again caught chatting up a bevy of ladies, this time poolside at the Roosevelt Hotel, also in L.A.
While Romo may already be moving on, the split is harder for Simpson.

“Jessica was ready to settle down, and Tony was not,” says a second source. “He travels a lot for his games, and having a full-time girlfriend is a big commitment.”

Agrees the first pal, “They were heading in different directions.” Reps for both Romo and Simpson declined to comment.

Despite her heartbreak, the blond beauty is trying to look on the bright side. “Barbie party didn’t happen, but I turned 29 and feel like I am on top of the world yelling, ‘I love getting older!” she tweeted on Saturday. The next day, she added, “Everyone needs to know that hope floats … grab the strings and pull it back to you.”

A source close to Simpson confirms they broke up the night before her 29th birthday July 10. She was supposed to celebrate with a Ken and Barbie-themed party. (On Simpson’s birthday, Romo spent the night at Los Angeles hot spot My House.)

“She canceled her party because of this,” the source said. “She’s doing OK.”

“Barbie party didn’t happen, but I turned 29 and feel like I am on top of the world yelling I LOVE GETTING OLDER!” she wrote on her Twitter page Saturday.

Later, she wrote: “Everyone needs to know that hope floats…grab the strings and pull it back to you… Falling asleep with my mom and the dogs. Please, Lord, give all of my beautiful fans, friends, enemies, and family rest. Bring all of us peace.”

A close friend of Romo’s talked about the split: “It’s been a long time coming.”

Still, another source said the volatile couple could always get back together. “They go from one fight right into another, without a second break,” the source said. “It’s always something with Jessica.”

Simpson’s rep had no comment.

Simpson – who turned 29 July 10 – began dating Romo, 29, in November 2007 — around the two-year anniversary of her split with Nick Lachey (who, incidentally, recently split with his girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo).

Simpson said she was watching a Cowboys game with her family when a segment on the quarterback aired, during which he said Simpson was his celebrity dream crush.

“My family was like, ‘Did you just hear that?’” Simpson told the June 2008 issue of Glamour. “His picture came up, and I’m like, ‘He’s really cute.’ Then I heard [that I was his crush], and I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh!’”

They later met after a pal introduced Romo to her dad, Joe. Simpson said she and Romo then began flirting “over e-mail and on the phone.”

On their first date, Simpson told Glamour, “I had butterflies that you would not imagine. I wanted to puke in the cup holder … It took me forever to put together an outfit!”

He tried to kiss her on their first date. “I was taken aback….

“The fact that this guy, on our first date, in the first 10 minutes of dinner, wanted to lean over the table and say, ‘This is my girl, and I want to kiss her’ — our first kiss in front of everybody — was awesome,” she recalled to Glamour.

During their relationship, Simpson credited Romo with helping her change as a person.

“He reintroduced me to myself,” Simpson told Glamour. “I thought that I had to be deeper, more profound and more artsy. You change with the guys you date.”

“Tony taught me that because he loves me [as me]. He made me feel comfortable [being myself] again,” she said.

(She even dedicated the tune “You’re My Sunday” to the football star while recently touring.)

Despite professing her love for Romo, their relationship underwent its share of scrutiny.

Last year Simpson was nicknamed “Yoko Romo” by Cowboys fans who thought she was bad luck to Romo’s football performance. Appearing on the Late Show With David Letterman, she even joked that she’ll never again wear her pink No.9 jersey to games.

Simpson – who the subject of much debate after she showed off a fuller figure earlier this year – told this June’s Vanity Fair that they didn’t let the criticism get to them.

“We don’t let it affect our relationship,” she said. “If we did, we wouldn’t be together, because it happened at the very beginning. Dating the Cowboys quarterback comes with hype, the fans, the bloggers, but I’ve never dated a guy that was more simple. I’m always there for him after a game, and he knows he has me to come home to.”

JESSICA Simpson (above) and Tony Romo are still on, despite recent tabloid reports that the Dallas Cowboys quarterback may have strayed. On Saturday, the couple spent a cozy evening together at the Great Dane Pub in Madison, Wis., following Simpson’s gig opening for Rascal Flatts. Security guards prevented onlookers from snapping photos, but a witness tells Page Six the two looked “very much together.” Simpson didn’t seem too concerned about her weight – our spy also reports she was drinking “lots of beer.”

Say this for Jessica Simpson – she doesn’t hold back.

“I am so excited that I am going to see my boyfriend tonight!” the singer told a crowd of nearly 30,000 fans at Radio 99.9 Kiss Country’s annual Chili Cookoff Sunday at C. B. Smith Park in Pembroke Pines, Fla., where she shared the bill with Alan Jackson and other country stars.

Smiling, happy and hopping around the stage, Simpson, 28, performed a medley of her pop hit songs (“Angel,” “With You”) during her hour-long show, as well as delivered new songs from Do You Know, her first country album released last fall.

Simpson’s rendition of “You’re My Sunday,” from the country album, was dedicated to her boyfriend, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, who was waiting for her in Dallas.

“My boyfriend is a football player, and he takes up my Sundays and now my Mondays,” Simpson told the appreciative audience. “I am sooo happy!”

Posing with Fans
After the show, the songbird did a quick meet-and-greet for about 25 fans of all ages in a secret tent set up in the back of the park. As she entered the enclosure, she cracked, “My six inch heels are not working so well!”

But she sure was. Radiant, smiling and pouring on a warm charm to those who had won a contest to meet her, Simpson posed for photos with all the fans – even though she had to catch a 5:45 p.m. flight to Dallas to see Romo.

Looks like Jessica Simpson needs to nurse Tony Romo back to health!

The Dallas Cowboys quarterback collapsed in the shower following a 44 to 6 defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday, according to ESPN.com.

Team sources told the sports Web site that medical staff brought in a stretcher, but Romo walked out on his own. He still participated in a news conference shortly after, but had to be helped to the podium.

ESPN reports that Romo may have suffered a rib injury in the second half of the game — the Cowboys’ biggest loss ever — but Romo refused to answer questions about his health.

Jessica Simpson is on the rise when it comes to her professional life as she continues to make movies, music, apparel and the recent launch of her second fragrance “Fancy.” But ever since she hooked up with Dallas QB Tony Romo, it seems the pop princess-turned-country crooner has become more dedicated to nurturing her personal life.

“My personality is now more stay-at-home; right now I’m doing the Christmas tree and everything. I’m in Dallas and its fun, Tony (Romo) hasn’t had Christmas in 7 years because they have football every Christmas and he can’t go home,” Simpson told Tarts last week. “So I’m bringing Christmas to him this year and it’s been fun. I’ve been out ornament shopping and all kinds of stuff, so that’s more of who I am.”

And even though Ms. Simpson certainly has a sexy little bod, she insisted that she survives on sugary delights.

“Believe it or not, I like to bake pies,” she added. “Tony’s favorite is pumpkin pie and I haven’t mastered that yet. Maybe I’m more of a baker; I like to make cakes, more fattening. I make a good carrot cake.”

Hmmm, we don’t know how pleased Romo’s teammates will be with Simpson if their star player turns up to training a little too loved — or love-handled — up …

Looks like Jessica Simpson has a pet name for beau Tony Romo: Cowboy.

At Thursday night’s KJ.97 Randy Carroll’s Christmas Bash in San Antonio, Texas, Simpson, 27, sang three songs and repeatedly referred to “my cowboy.”

(It’s not a huge stretch: He’s the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys.)

Before belting out her tune, “Come on Over,” Simpson chatted with country singer Billy Carrington about her love life on stage.

“So, I see you really like doing the guitar playing thing, the hair, the cargo pants you’re wearing – everything I used to date,” she said. “But aren’t you a cowboy, too?”

Switching gears to talk about Romo, whom she never mentioned by name, Simpson said: “You know, I’ve got a cowboy, only my cowboy is a little bit different. I wrote this song for my cowboy – it’s called ‘Come On Over.’ I can’t help it. I want him all the time.”

(Simpson also wrote “Back in My Old Boots” for Romo.)

She also caught a little flack on behalf of Romo.

“Jessica, I hope your boyfriend throws a lot of touchdowns this weekend, cause we’re getting frustrated right now,” singer John Rich told her.
