After selling millions of albums and winning the hearts of fans worldwide as a member of The Jonas Brothers, 22-year-old Joe Jonas is ready to break out on his own. Jonas is set to release his solo debut album, FastLife, on Oct. 11.  Jonas recently talked to Parade.com about performing without his brothers, why he’s not afraid to open up about love and heartache on his new album and touring with Britney Spears. Here are some highlights:

On venturing out on his own…
“It’s been really awesome to see how many people have supported me on this solo project. I’ve been doing a lot of traveling and recording over the past year, trying to do everything I can to get in the studio and work with new producers and writers and try to see what I can come up with. I’ve been really lucky to find some incredible people to work with and I’m really happy with the album.”

On touring with Britney Spears…
“It is a dream come true. She’s the perfect headliner. I’ve always been a huge fan of her music. I can’t wait to go over to Europe. It’s going to be the greatest experience.”

What’s it like performing without his brothers?
“There are times when I miss them onstage, and I wish they could be with me and be able to experience the things I’m experiencing, but it’s good for them to have this time to themselves too and kind of relax. I’m really loving this experience. To be able to get on stage on my own and travel and perform is great.”

On sharing songs about past relationships with the world.
“Part of me is nervous about that. There are some songs that I definitely go, ‘Ok, I hope people don’t read into it too much.’ It’s a very honest state of mind to go into when you’re writing a record because you want to be completely honest. A lot of the songs are fun and just about having a good time, but there are songs in there that are deep and I get more into my personal life. I want to do my best to be as honest as possible.”

We bet Joe Jonas wants to “See No More” of Williamsburg.

The middle Jonas brother got a rough reception in Brooklyn’s hipster capital on Wednesday night when audience members at the Paper magazine party pelted him with mini-basketballs and greeted his performance with a mixture of derision and stony silence.

The 21-year-old Jo-Bro — who’s attempting to cultivate a more grownup, Timberlake-ian image with his first solo album, “Fast Life,” was definitely not living the dream when he opened for Swizz Beatz at the House of Vans in Billyburg.

Unless it was a nightmare.

Save for a group of adoring girls at the front of the crowd, Jonas did not encounter very much love from the hard-core Williamsburg crowd in their frayed jeans, acid-washed tanks, jean vests and oversize eyeglass frames.

The booing and jeering began as soon as the Disney TV star and his four backup singers took to the stage to perform five songs from Jonas’ new album and engage in a bit of awkward dancing.

And it lasted a lot longer than Jonas’ infamous 27-second break-up phone call with Taylor Swift.

Audience members were even targeting Jonas with green Nerf-style mini-basketballs that Corona beer, one of the night’s sponsors, had handed out to partygoers.

At one point in the performance, we watched two dudes standing in front of us peg Jonas in the face with their balls. They also nailed one of his backup singers, who wore a cobalt-colored blazer and a cheese-tastic cockatoo-like coif. (Given the outfit, we didn’t feel so bad for that guy.)

While a security guard pulled the troublemakers aside, Jonas, to his credit, ignored the air assault and soldiered on like a true pro.

Not that the crowd gave him any credit for sucking it up. They mostly just stared — and we cringed – when Jonas attempted to engage them by shrieking, “How you guys doing tonight? Let’s have fun! Lemme see them drinks in the air!”

The hostile hipsters didn’t even react when Jonas showed off his newly sculpted torso by taking off his blazer to reveal a tight tank top.

The teen idol seemed a little deflated by the time he and the backup singers wrapped up their part of the show by performing his current single, “See No More.” Jonas co-wrote the track with Chris Brown, who also performs backing vocals on the recording. Too bad Brown wasn’t in the house to lend some support on Wednesday night.

After his performance, Jonas remained backstage to watch Swizz Beatz’s show.

Beatz, by contrast, had the room jumping and singing along.

Joe Jonas appears on the April cover of DETAILS magazine in a photo shoot with Norman Jean Roy that took place in Los Angeles. The middle Jonas Brother has moved out of his parents’ house, started dating an older woman, and (for now) has left his brother behind to embark on a solo career of his own. “We’re not breaking up, we’re just taking a break,” Joe says. “I really have a hope for the fans that got older and went, ‘You know what, I’m really not into the Jonas Brothers anymore,’ that I’m able to catch their ear again with my project and they’re able to go like, ‘Hey, this is cool stuff, I’m happy listening to this, I’m not embarrassed listening to this.’” Is America ready to accept this former tween dream as a grown-up rock star?

Highlights from the article:
On going solo: “I’m growing up, the fans are growing up. I’ve gone through a lot of stuff in my life so far. There are stories I haven’t really been able to tell. When you’re writing with three people, you wind up with a sound that might be—not average—but, you know, expected.”

On his new music: “I wanted to do something you could hear in a club or something you could dance to, something’s that’s fun—something that’s me.”

“I think all artists have a right to write about what happens to them.” On his album, there will be songs about “different love scenarios that I’ve been through, breakups, hurts. Me hurting somebody and feeling bad about it. I think there’s a lot of scenarios where people might wanna hear my side of the story.”

On his relationship with Ashley: “It feels good. I think what works about it is she really puts my feelings first. She understands my busy schedule. She’ll fly out to my shows—she’s been to places in South America that I can’t even pronounce.”

The April issue of DETAILS is on sale in New York and LA on 3/22 and nationwide on 3/29

Next to fill Paula Abdul’s seat? Joe Jonas and “American Idol” Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson.

Sources tell Showtracker that the pair are nearing a deal to guest judge an audition round of the competition. They follow Victoria Beckham, Mary J. Blige, Shania Twain and the still-unscheduled Katy Perry.

Clarkson most recently appeared on “Idol” in March to perform “My Life Would Suck Without You” from her latest album, “All I Ever Wanted.” She is on tour through December to promote the album.

The Jonas Brothers are also on tour for their new disc, “Lines, Vines and Trying Times.” The trio last graced the “Idol” stage in May 2008 to perform at the Season 7 finale.

Young lovers Camilla Belle, 22, and Joe Jonas, 19, recently confirmed they broke up — but we hear the decision wasn’t mutual. “Camilla is the one who ended it with Joe,” said our insider. “The relationship was becoming too serious for her. Joe is still really upset and keeps calling her and leaving messages. He even got [brother] Kevin [Jonas] to call her.” Maybe she didn’t call back because a spy saw Jonas — after dinner with Disney darling Brenda Song at Katsyta in Hollywood Sunday — “trying to sneak out separately.” A rep for Jonas had no comment.

Looks like the lovebug has taken its last bite. At least when it comes to Joe Jonas and Camilla Belle.

With rumors running rampant around the Internet that the middle JoBro and his 10,000 B.C. babe had called it quits, Camilla’s rep tells E! News that she and Joe are, in fact, no longer making beautiful music together…

“Yes, it’s true, they have broken up,” says Brad Cafarelli. “There is no third party involved, and they care deeply about each other and will remain friends.”

The unfortunate news comes on the heels of older bro Kevin’s recent announcement that he’s engaged.
