1. Your “American Me” and AM2 mixtape/album has crazy features from up and coming MC’s to Industry Legends. Is there any features missing that you really wanted but is not on the body of work?
Of course. Anthony Hamilton, is one of them. The Cataracts, and I would have to say Fabolous is someone I would certainly like to work with.
2. To my knowledge the tracks are all originals correct me if I’m wrong, who are some of the producers you have worked with on this mixtape/album?
Yeah man, all original music. S-1, Epik, The Olympiks, Bybe, zone beats are some of the producers I’ve worked with. It’s all original music, it’s just something I’m trying to create my awareness of what I like, and these producers have helped me create that type of lane. I get a lot of motivation and inspiration from S-1, we both have a great working relationship. I feel we haven’t reached the potential of music with my future projects and album.
3. Are you getting the response you wanted from “American Me” so far?
Yes, I think right now I’m very appreciative of the support I’m getting from AM2. It’s exceeding my personal expectations of what I’ve had with the response from the people. I think the more I continue to build relationships with blogs sites, and the people it will organically create more of a response to make it one of the best known mix tapes of the year.
4. You have been in the game for a minute doing your thing, how is it being from a place where music is not recognized on the mainstream level?
Honestly at this point it’s been one of the hardest obstacles I’m facing to overcome. At this particular point in my career I’ve very vocal about what I stand for and the city I represent. It’s been a challenge to get other known states to understand where I’m from, but with the releases of Death Certificate, Position of Power, AM & AM 2 I’m progressing and getting my state where it needs to be.
5. You released to ALBUMS for FREE back to back “American Me,” and “American Me 2: The Progression”. Was that apart of your marketing plan? Or you just have that many records in store you can drop a mix tape full of originals when you want?
It’s just a part of my plan. I want to release enough music for people to respond to, build a core fan base of supporters.
6. How do you feel about the Street Artist that is still selling mix tapes out the trunk VS. The Internet Blog artist?
Internet and viral are the new ways of spreading the music. But it comes down to getting hand to hand to establish a core fan base of people who are going to support you. A big part of why I call myself Juice McCain is about connecting with the people face to face and really having them be apart of what I am doing. You can’t create that online, but you can’t do one without the other.
7. On the “My Open Letter” track on AM2, you explained your relationship with The Game and touched on a couple other subjects such as being left off lists. Do you feel as though you are underrated and/or being overseen?
I feel I am one of the most underrated artists in the industry, I understand I’m not from a major market, but I do feel people are catching to my progression and will put me in the likes of others.
8.What fuels you to make the music that you do?
Music is my personal therapy. Life alone is hard, and situations are hard, and people need an outlet to connect to. They need balance, and music has been my love & savior. Life experiences play a vital part and it’s about connecting with the people. Progressing.
9. Since you keep releasing these FREE ALBUMS which is not done by artist nowadays, which actually made me more of a fan of your music everybody loves jacking beats, i have no choice but to respect the grind. When can we expect an actual album from Juice McCain?
I plan to drop another American Me project, then follow up with an official single to really build the buzz to where it needs to be. It’s all about the people, if they are connecting and responding to the music then there will be an album in the works. I’m still working toward building my fan base one day, one person at a time, but it will be there when the time is right.
