Kanye West made a surprise appearance with Jay Z at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in New York on Wednesday, four years after he cancelled a performance at the event due to his mother’s death.

The rapper had been booked to perform at the lingerie catwalk show in 2007, but he pulled out after the loss of his mother, Dr. Donda West, who died after suffering complications from cosmetic surgery.

West took to the stage for a surprise appearance at the 2011 show at Manhattan’s Lexington Avenue Armory and before bursting into a rendition of his hit track Stronger, he told the crowd, “In 2007, I was supposed to perform this song… then my mom passed away. She was my superhero – now she’s my super-angel.”

He was later joined on stage by his Watch The Throne collaborator Jay Z.

The night also included a performance by Nicki Minaj and Maroon 5′s Adam Levine, who sang Moves Like Jagger as he escorted his supermodel girlfriend Anne Vyalitsyna down the runway.

Orlando Bloom’s model wife Miranda Kerr was another star of the show as she took to the catwalk wearing a bra made from $2.5 million-worth of diamonds.

Kanye West invited the entire Mercer Hotel staff to the Izod Center in New Jersey for his Saturday “Watch the Throne” concert with Jay-Z.

Sources said the stars wanted to return the favor after they took over the second floor of the SoHo hotel to produce their album and were well looked-after, despite some noise and air-quality complaints from guests.

One staffer told us, “We were all provided with complimentary tickets, and Kanye personally thanked each team member for attending. The seats were amazing and he was such a gentleman.”

After their Monday gig at Madison Square Garden, Jay-Z partied with Irv Gotti (angling for a top job at Def Jam) and Maxwell at Catch.

It seems Kanye West hasn’t given up on signing “Shot Caller” rapper French Montana to his Def Jam label “G.O.O.D.”

Sources at Jay-Z and West’s “Watch the Throne” concert at New Jersey’s Izod Center Saturday say West was “all over” Montana backstage.

Since Montana left Akon’s Konvict Muzik, he’s been flirting with West and Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group.

Montana tweeted a photo with West backstage hinting that he’d signed with him. West was later spotted at the Darby Downstairs sitting near the DJ booth where Mick Boogie was spinning.

Hundreds of people have joined a popular campaign on Change.org calling on hip hop artist Kanye West, currently in Alabama preparing for a nationwide tour, to meet with civil rights leaders and speak out against the state’s controversial new immigration law.

William Anderson, a student at the University of Alabama Birmingham and a long-time fan of Kanye West, launched thecampaign on Change.org after learning that the famous musician was spending the month in Birmingham, Alabama, in preparation for his “Watch the Throne” tour with fellow hip hop artist Jay-Z.

“Like thousands of Kanye fans, I grew up listening to hip hop, and it was one of the things that shaped my consciousness about race and justice,” said William Anderson, who launched the campaign on Change.org. “Alabama’s new immigration law is an attack on the state’s citizens, documented and undocumented. In the spirit of the social justice and hip hop, I hope that Kanye listens to his fans and takes a few minutes to learn and educate others about the crisis that is happening in Alabama.”

The law in question, HB 56, has been called the nation’s most extreme immigration law by civil rights leaders in Alabama, who have likened the measure to Alabama’s Jim Crow laws from the previous century. Since HB 56 was signed into law, civil rights advocates have reported that crops are rotting in the fields without workers to pick them, schools have recorded above-average absence rates, and residents have begun to leave the state.

News of the growing momentum around Anderson’s online campaign is likely to put pressure on Kanye West to speak out against the immigration law. Within 24 hours of the campaign’s launch, William Anderson had recruited hundreds of supporters on Change.org, the world’s fastest growing platform for social change.

“What William Anderson has accomplished in just a few days is remarkable,” said Change.org Director of Organizing Jackie Mahendra. “A student with no budget – armed only with a laptop and determination – has managed to recruit more than 750 supporters who are asking Kanye West to comment on the most controversial civil rights issue in Alabama’s recent history while he’s there. Change.org is about empowering people to take action on the issues that matter to them, and it’s been incredible to watch William do just that.”

Kanye West will be in Alabama until October 28.

“Kanye was supposed to play it for me” at Rihanna’s July 19 concert at Nassau Coliseum, but “he never got a chance,” Cole said. “I heard it like everybody else, on iTunes.”

“They downed plenty of Pinot Grigio,” a spy said. West seems to have a roster of models on his “to do” list and has recently been cozying up to Victoria’s Secret models including Kate Upton, Candice Swanepoel and Selita Ebanks. Sources say the rappers — who call themselves The Throne and are releasing their expected blockbuster collaboration Aug. 8 on iTunes and four days later everywhere else — are barely speaking to each other as they iron out the details of their upcoming tour.

Live Nation’s presale event on Thursday was delayed, but tickets for the tour are slated to go on sale today, with shows at the IZOD Center Sept. 27 and 28.

The sources say West wants flashy concerts with “next-level production,” which would cost more than $400,000 per show. Jay-Z is said to be meticulous about costs and already has a larger, long-term advance from Live Nation that he has to pay back.

“Jay-Z can’t deal with Kanye,” an insider said. “Jay is a stone-cold businessman. He wants to recoup all of his money from Live Nation. But Kanye wants to upstage rock stars with a blowout show. He doesn’t care about costs. He has a lot less to gain from the shows.”

West is expected to agree to the conditions of the tour next week, but the business argument between the powerhouse artists might have affected their backstage relationship.

Industry insiders were shocked to see West and Jay-Z perform separately with Young Jeezy last Monday night at the Highline Ballroom. “We were expecting them to come out together to perform a track from the album,” a source said. “They didn’t even go out together after the show.”

“Jay-Z is fed up with West’s antics,” another source said. “He doesn’t even want to be around him.”

However, the two are expected to perform together at a listening party tonight at The Rose Planetarium in Central Park, according to The Post’s Dan Aquilante. A Live Nation rep said, “No comment.”

The hip-hop superstars sampled the late singer’s classic tune for their track ‘Otis’ on their The Throne project, but had to get permission from the late soul singer’s estate – looked after by daughter Karla Redding-Andrews and his wife, Zelma Redding – before using it.

Karla said: “When it was brought to us, it was quite interesting. We wanted to, first of all, see the lyrics and, secondly, hear the song. We couldn’t find anything negative as it relates to the association with Otis Redding.

“My mother has protected that legacy for so many years; therefore she gave them the approval to do it.”
Karla added her family are huge fans of Jay-Z and Kanye and are pleased the rap pair will bring Otis’ music to a new generation.

She added to MTV: “It really means a lot to me, particularly to a whole new generation of young legends, because that’s what Jay-Z and Kanye are.

“I just think it’s wonderful to tie an old legendary artist whose music history will never die to something that they have come up with. I just think the collaboration was certainly a tribute to him, and it’s really great.”

‘Sitting on the Dock of the Bay’ singer Otis died in a plane crash in 1967 when he was just 26. The Throne’s album ‘Watch the Throne’ is set for release on August 8.

On Thursday, after the single “Otis” had leaked, Jay and DJ Whoo Kid spun the track at Greenhouse. Whoo Kid tacked on a 30-minute set of Jay’s hits while Jigga stood back. “He hung out in a roped-off area all night, and admirers tried to get near him,” said a spy.
