Katie Holmes has bounced back from the news her Kennedys mini-series has been axed by History Channel bosses by landing a leading fashion job.

The actress has signed on as the new face of Ann Taylor for the style company’s spring 2011 campaign.

USA Today reports top photographer Tom Munro shot the fashionable star modelling Taylor designs at a rented home in Los Angeles.

Heidi Klum and Naomi Watts have previously fronted campaigns for the American sportswear brand.

Holmes portrayal of Jackie Kennedy in the new mini-series about America’s most famous political clan was pulled from the History Channel’s line-up last week before it aired. Network bosses ruled the project wasn’t a good “fit”.

The Kennedys will now air overseas and producers are attempting to sell the project to other U.S. networks.

The 31-year-old actress is currently happy to devote all her attention to her four-year-old daughter Suri – her child with husband Tom Cruise – but admits she could change her mind in the near future because she thinks it is good to have a large age gap between siblings.

Asked if she was planning another baby, she said: “Maybe in a couple of years, but right now I want to make sure I’m really there for Suri.

“I’m the youngest in my family. My closest sister is five years older than me, and the next one is nine years ahead of me, so I was a bit of an only child, and I liked it! I liked having all of my mom’s attention, and sometimes I think I still do.”

The ‘Romantics’ actress – who has never spent more than 10 days away from her 48-year-old husband – also admitted she does her best to maintain normality for Suri, even when she and Tom have to travel for work.

She explained to America’s Marie Claire magazine: “We travel a lot, and so for me, it’s keeping a daily schedule for Suri that never changes. We wake up and we do the same thing. She does her chores.

“If she doesn’t get her chores done, I notice she’s not really herself. She has to make her bed, she has to take her dishes to the sink, she has to put her clothes in the laundry – you know, that basic stuff.”

Katie acknowledges she has an “amazing” life with Tom, and is adamant neither of them take their success for granted.

She added: “It’s really exciting. Tom’s as big at home as he is on the movie screen. He’s so passionate about everything, whatever he’s doing. When he’s being a dad, he’s right there; he’s giving it his all. It’s inspiring and it’s fun. It’s an amazing life, but we always remind ourselves of how incredibly lucky we are.”

The ‘Batman Begins’ actress – who is married to Tom Cruise – would play alongside Adam Sandler in the comedy movie, which tells the tale of a man who has issues with his twin sister.

Sandler is due to play both Jack and Jill in the movie, with Katie in talks to star as Jack’s wife.

Al Pacino is also due to star in the Dennis Dugan-directed movie as himself, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Katie’s career has seen a resurgence recently after she took time off following the birth of her first child Suri in 2006.

As well as currently filming TV series ‘The Kennedys’, where she plays iconic fashionista Jackie Kennedy, she will also appear in indie movie ‘The Romantics’ alongside Anna Paquin, Josh Duhamel and Candice Bergen.

She will next be seen in Guillermo del Toro-produced thriller ‘Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark’, which is due to hit cinemas in January 2011.

‘Jack and Jill’ enters production in October.

She’s the little girl that could have everything, but Suri Cruise prefers to design her own clothes.

In a rare interview, mom Katie Holmes gives a glimpse into domestic bliss at her household with Tom Cruise, describing how she lets her 4-year-old daughter pick out and craft her own outfits.

“I grew up the youngest of five, so there were a lot of hand-me-downs that I would sort of change up,” Holmes, 31, tells this week’s issue of New York magazine.

“And Suri and I do that now with her clothes. Or rather, she does it. She says, ‘I want this sleeve cut,’ and it’s like, ‘Okay, we’ll cut it.’ She picks out all of her own clothes and has since she was one-and-a-half.”

Suri is often described as one of the best-dressed celebrity kids, and the “Dawson’s Creek” star reveals that mom and daughter deserve all the credit.

“I started making clothes for Suri when she was born, designing dresses, and then having seamstresses sew them, because I don’t sew very well,” Holmes says. “As a child, I was always drawing clothes, and I’ve always loved fabrics, and when Suri was born, I wanted to have certain things be from me and created just by me for her.”

Suri’s style sense is rubbing off on mom, too.

“Tom and I went to the Met ball a couple of years ago, and I had this beautiful red gown and these royal-blue shoes that I wasn’t planning on wearing, but Suri made me put them on and so I was like, ‘Okay, I trust you.’”
