Laila Ali Has Baby Boy

Dancing with the Stars alum Laila Ali and her husband, former NFL star Curtis Conway, have welcomed a baby boy.
Weighing 6.8 lbs. and measuring 19 inches, Curtis Muhammad Conway Jr. was born August 26.
“Mama and baby are resting,” she writes on her Web site.
She announced her pregnancy in Essence magazine in May.
“I don’t know yet if we are having a boy or a girl, but I’m excited that I have a life inside me that my husband and I created,” she said.
“I am 100 percent undeniably happy,” she added. “I’ve never been able to say that before.”
In May, she told Usmagazine.com she planned on “doing a natural home birth with no medication” and was using a midwife.
The hardest part of being pregnant: Putting down the weights.
“My husband has got on me a couple of times saying, ‘You’re not supposed to be doing that with those weights!’” the fitness fanatic said. “I’m like, ‘Oh, OK.’”
Is her famous boxing father psyched to be a granddad?
“Of course,” she told Us, “but I think he’ll be more excited once the baby is actually here.”
This is the first child for Ali and the fourth for Conway, who has twin sons, Kelton and Cameron, and a daughter Leilani.
They tied the knot in 2007.

Break out the blue cigars: Laila Ali is having a boy!
The pregnant American Gladiator co-host, 30 (and daughter of boxing champ Muhammad Ali), revealed her baby news to Usmagazine.com at Saturday’s Celebrity Family Feud taping in Los Angeles.
“His name is going to be Curtis Jr. and Mohammed is the middle name,” she told Us. (Ali married her husband Curtis Conway in July 2007.)
Although she has “gained 20 pounds so far,” she said she hasn’t had any unusual pregnancy cravings.
“I feel great!” she said.
Due in “three months,” she said she plans on “doing a natural home birth with no medication.” (She’s also using a midwife!)
So the fitness fanatic has had to put down the weights.
“My husband has got on me a couple of times saying, ‘You’re not supposed to be doing that with those weights!’” she said. “I’m like, ‘Oh, OK.’”
(Still, the former DWTS contestant said she manages to do “an hour of cardio on the elliptical or spinning, but not such high impact. Then, I also do some plates and light weight training, but nothing very strenuous.”)
Is her famous boxing father psyched to be a granddad?
“Of course,” she told Us, “but I think he’ll be more excited once the baby is actually here.”

Laila Ali announces she and her husband Curtis Conway are expecting a baby

Laila Ali, cohost of NBC’s American Gladiator and the youngest daughter of Muhammad Ali, is expecting her first child with husband former NFL player Curtis Conway.
Speaking exclusively to ESSENCE magazine for the May issue, Ali says, “I don’t know yet if we are having a boy or a girl, but I’m excited that I have a life inside me that my husband and I created.” The baby is due this fall.
Ali, 30, married Conway, 36, last July in Marina Del Rey, California. The newlyweds met through a mutual friend two years ago and have been a couple ever since. Her first marriage to former boxer Johnny “Yahyah” McClain ended in 2005. Conway was also married before and has three children.
“Curtis is very calm and has a quiet confidence, and he wanted what I wanted—to be married and have a family,” says the former boxer, who retired undefeated as the women’s super middleweight champion.
“I am 100 percent undeniably happy,” Ali says. “I’ve never been able to say that before.”
