The reality show star turned author and designer posted a photo of her new color-tipped hairdo on her style page “The Beauty Department.”

Conrad said she knew that dyeing the ends of her locks fuchsia, turquoise and green was a “little different.”

“I spent all yesterday trying to decide if I should take a chance and attempt this daring trend (temporarily of course),” she wrote. “I can’t help it… I’m obsessed!”

She then asked her readers to vote on whether she should keep her colorful new look or ditch it.

“Let me know if you think I should try these tie-dyed tips or I should leave this one to the rebelling teens,” she wrote.

Style watchers have been seeing feather extensions for the past few months, and it looks like tie-dyed tips are the next hippie-hair trend, according to Cheryl Kramer Kaye, the fashion and beauty director of Star magazine.

“I have to say, Lauren Conrad’s colorful streaks are pretty amazing. But the look is for true trend-setters only,” Kramer advised. “If you work at an office or were a hippie when the word was coined, you should skip the tie-dyed tips.”

Conrad has asked readers to vote on previous hairdos in the past.

Earlier this year, she left the choice of whether to ditch her dark hair or go back to blonde to a vote.

She went blonde.

The reality TV star- who debuted her LC by Lauren Conrad line in 2009 – is excited about the forthcoming event as it will be the first time she has sent her own creations down the runway in the city.

She said: “This upcoming New York fashion week I’m hoping to show. I’ve done LA before and never New York, so that’s exciting.”

The 24-year-old beauty loves attending fashion events, but she tries not to attend too many catwalk shows because the preparations are so extensive.

She explained in an interview with Young Hollywood Studios: “It’s fun, you can only do a few of the shows because it becomes work – you have to wear the designer and do all your hair and make-up beforehand, so they’re fun if you only do a few.”

Lauren recently debuted a new brunette look but she insists her transition from blonde has been a slow process that people have only just started to notice.

She said: “I’ve been changing my hair over the last six months, I’ve been slowly going darker and it’s only the last time people have noticed. I think it’s because I don’t do red carpets very often so no one noticed. I change my hair every two months.”

Reality TV star and fashionista, Lauren Conrad, opens up to Women’s Health magazine in the November issue about her post-TV life. She also spills the beans about her many new projects and how she squeezes in staying in shape.

Check out the interview highlights below:

On her post-TV life:
“A lot of the craziness is over. It’s the calm after the storm.”

On balancing her hectic lifestyle:
“When you are working really hard and you’re really focused on your career, a lot of other things suffer. It takes a lot of effort to have a successful career, have great relationships in your life and have a healthy lifestyle. It’s just about compromise.”

On staying grounded:
“One way to stay grounded in the entertainment industry is to surround yourself with very good people that will constantly remind you how uncool you are. It helps that I have an amazing family and I have really great friends that I’ve had since I was a little kid and they’re all still around me, reminding me how lame I am.”

On producing:
“You know, the next thing I’m probably going to do is getting into producing. For me it’s more about finding the time that I really have to dedicate to the beginning stages because I want the first project I do to be something really special.”

On her other upcoming projects:
“Right now, I’m working on putting together my next book series; working on the Kohl’s line…which has taken up a lot of time and has been really, really fun to do.”

On her success as a writer:
“A little bizarre but really cool.”

On taking on a dozen different projects and squeezing in workouts with her beau:
“It helps if your friends and boyfriend like to work out because then you can kill two birds with one stone.”

On her kickboxing sessions:
“Any way to make a workout feel like playtime is great,”
“The stress just melts away.”

Former “Hills” star Lauren Conrad is set to return to the MTV network that made her famous for a new reality project, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed exclusively.

Conrad, 24, will be the focus of a documentary-style reality series for MTV following the budding fashion designer as she creates a line of evening wear and builds a fashion house — from the ground up.

“I’m so excited to take on this new project that really focuses on my true passion,” Conrad tells THR. “I’m happy to be partnering with MTV because I have had such an amazing relationship with them and love being a part of the network.”

Berman Braun will be producing the new reality series.

“We are thrilled to be in business with a terrific young entrepreneur like Lauren,” Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun said in a statement to THR. “It will be a lot of fun to be exploring her new work adventure with her.”

“We are so excited to be working with Lauren again,” Tony DiSanto, president of programing at MTV, tells THR. “She is family we are very proud of her. When we shot the test tape for Laguna Beach she was 17 now she’s a mogul.”

With the third installment of her teen novel series due out next month, the N.Y. Times best-selling author has already established herself in the fashion world with the Lauren Conrad collection that debuted at L.A. Fashion Week in March 2008 and launched a line of casual wear with Kohl’s department stores in 2009.

ELLE’s October / 25th Anniversary issue profiles 25 women under 25 and there are four different covers which feature Lauren Conrad, Amanda Seyfried, Megan Fox, and Gabourey Sidibe.

Interview highlights:

Lauren Conrad:
Best part of being in her twenties: “It’s your time to be selfish; you still have freedom.”
Where she thought she’d be now: “I was never that girl who just wanted babies. I wanted a career before all of that.”

Amanda Seyfried
What are the best and worst things about turning 25? “The best thing is, I’m happy. The worst is that I’m scared; the scariest thing is that I know it can’t be easy—the years to come.”

Gabourey Sidibe
On celebrating her twenty-fifth birthday: “Part of me thought it would be weird if people knew I was a grown-up playing a teenager in Precious. So I had a twenty-first-birthday party. We had drinks and went to a strip club called Shotgun Willie’s.”

Megan Fox
On being married: “When I talk about my husband [Brian Austin Green], I feel as if people roll their eyes. It’s like when you’re 16 and order a martini, and the waiter says, ‘Do you think I’m stupid?’ They can’t grasp that I’m old enough to be married.”
