Do the words music, cocktails, and charity all tickle your fancy? Then you’re in luck with the latest Gilt City Los Angeles offering featuring all three!

Nearly 30 years ago, Hopefield Animal Sanctuary was founded to save horses abandoned in the freezing English countryside. Today, in addition to horses, the nonprofit animal organization has expanded to give more than 200 rabbits, pigs, cows, goats, cats and more a safe, warm and loving home. Acting as ambassador, spokesperson and trustee for the foundation is singer Leona Lewis, who rose to fame after she won “The X Factor” in 2006.

Lewis is currently leading a charge to help Hopefield raise urgent lifesaving funds by Christmas, and Gilt City members are invited to help by attending a West Hollywood cocktail soirée where Lewis, Natasha Bedingfield, Kelly Clarkson and other pro songbirds will be entertaining the crowd. One hundred percent of the evening’s proceeds will go to the Hopefield Animal Sanctuary.

Your general admission ticket includes cocktails, passed appetizers, access to the auction, complimentary parking and shuttle service to and from the event. High rollers can opt for a VIP experience that features a pre-reception with Lewis in addition to the general admission perks. Guests must be 21+. The event takes place at a private home in the Hollywood Hills from 7:30pm-11:00pm. A shuttle will pick guests up at 9255 Sunset Blvd. VIP ticket holders will be picked up from the same address at 6:30pm.

In pop star terms, X Factor winner Leona Lewis was once considered to be as dull as dishwater.

But lately the singer has decided to sex up her once rather tame image, and what better route than via a tried and tested method – a tattoo.

Leona unveiled her first – a Hebrew inking on her wrist – last year.

And last night at the glamorous charity fundraiser, the Love Ball, she showed off her second, a poetic inking and tribute to her favourite animal, the horse.

The tattoo which runs from the nape of her neck to her back reads: ‘Their beauty captures every eye, a gift from God for all mankind, they lend us wings so we may fly, to ride a horse is to ride the sky.’

It appears to be Leona’s second tattoo, although the undercover rebel may well be hiding more.

Leona has taken her cue from celebrities such as Victoria Beckham, and Christina Aguilera, who also have tattoos in the same area.

The diva from Hackney has of late been channelling a more high fashion look.

She arrived at charity event last night at the Roundhouse in North London in a bronze metallic one shouldered gown with corseted bodice.

And wearing her hair in a fashionable fat braided side-plait, a look hot off the catwalks.

Leona’s clothing choices appear to have got more daring after she slimmed down from a size 14 to a size 10 following a strict month-long detox regime.

The 24-year-old singer, who has always flown the flag for ‘normal’, curvy women, decided to change her diet after a lengthy spell in the recording studio.

She said: ‘I only did the detox for a little while, but it must have kick-started something in me because everyone keeps saying: “Wow, you’ve lost weight!” and I’m like: “Cool!”‘

‘Bleeding Love’ singer Leona Lewis was ”shaking life a leaf” and feared for her life after being caught up in the middle of a gun siege in the US.

Leona Lewis feared for her life after being caught up in the middle of gun-wielding criminals.

The ‘Bleeding Love’ singer was left “shaking like a leaf” after she stopped for coffee in Los Angeles with her manager Nicola Carson and entourage and ended up in the midst of a police chase and arrest.

She is quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as telling a friend: “It was really frightening. One minute we were stopping for drinks, the next there was police and guns everywhere. It came completely out of the blue and was absolutely terrifying.

“I really thought the guys might start shooting. I was shaking like a leaf afterwards.”

The 24-year-old star and her team had stopped to visit a Starbucks coffee shop whilst on their way to Los Angeles’ LAX Airport.

The group had just pulled over when a car – which had been involved in a high-speed chase with police – screeched to a halt next to them and two men with handguns came running past. Nicola had just climbed out the vehicle and Leona was close behind her.

As the drama unfolded, the singer’s security team quickly forced her back into the car for her own safety.

A source said: “Two men brandishing guns jumped out of their car, right next to Leona’s. Armed cops, who had been in hot pursuit, captured them. But in the chaos bystanders were also sent flying.

“Leona had been locked in her car by her security team and had to watch as her manager was thrown on to the floor.”

The officers quickly arrested their suspects and the singer – after speaking to the police – continued on her way to the airport and made her flight.

A schizophrenic man who admitted punching British pop star Leona Lewis as she signed copies of her autobiography in a London bookstore was ordered by a court on Monday to be detained indefinitely under mental health regulations.

Peter Kowalczyk, 29, hit the singer, who won the British TV talent show “The X Factor” and whose single “Bleeding Love” was a worldwide hit, in October.

London’s City of Westminster magistrates’ court was told that Kowalczyk said “gotcha” as he landed the punch.

Prosecutor Melanie Lee said Lewis, whose debut album “Spirit” has sold more than 6.5 million copies worldwide, was left with redness and swelling to the face, and whiplash symptoms.

“I feel completely devastated by this attack,” Lewis said in a witness statement read to the court.

“Now I am very frightened about going out in public and I don’t know where the next attack will come from and if this will be more serious than what has just happened.”

Judge Howard Riddle ordered Kowalczyk, who suffers from schizophrenia and who pleaded guilty to assault, to remain in hospital for an indeterminate period.

“This is what happens when you don’t take your medication. A woman is now devastated,” the judge said.

She’s become one of the hottest properties on the planet thanks to her X Factor success, but that hasn’t given Leona Lewis a huge diva-sized ego.

In fact, the 24-year-old singer is still just as grounded as she was before the talent show launched her to the top of the charts.

And Leona even turned down the chance to kiss superhunk Chace Crawford for fear of making her boyfriend jealous.

Asked if partner Lou Al-Chamaa ever gets jealous of the boys in her videos the X Factor star told Sugar magazine: ‘I think he would if I was kissing them, but I’d never do that.

‘They wanted me and Chace [Crawford] to kiss in the I Will Be video. But I said no way.’

She added: ‘I’d just have been too embarrassed, he’s my friend! He’s so beautiful, I mean, look at him – he could be a girl. He’d be a really pretty girl. But I just don’t think of him like that. And it wouldn’t be fair to Lou to kiss other guys.’

The stunning singer took part in a photoshoot with the magazine ahead of the release of her new single Happy, which is released next month, followed by her album Echo.

Wearing a tight-fitting silk dress, she shows off her gorgeous figure, while she sports a pair of ripped jeans and a white vest couple with a lacy cardigan and a funky pair of black heels in another shot.

Talking about her collaboration with R&B superstar Justin Timberlake, Leona revealed that she had a crush on the former ‘N Sync singer, but soon lost it when she worked with him.

She said: ‘I know! I had a big thing for Justin [Timberlake] before I worked with him, but I lose my crush when I meet people.
Which is probably good news for Lou!’

The stars worked together on single Don’t Let Me Down, which appears on her new album.

The track was leaked on the internet several months before the LP’s release, prompting Simon Cowell to call in the police to track the hackers who obtained the track.

Leona was assaulted earlier this month during a book signing in London.

Her alleged attacker was arrested on the scene and charged.

Peter Kowalczyk, 29, was due to appear at a hearing at City of Westminster magistrates’ court after he had been sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

He was being examined by psychiatrists in secure accommodation at Lambeth hospital in south London.

District judge Daphne Wickham adjourned the case until November 23, pending the results of the Kowalczyk’s examination.

The 24-year-old former X Factor winner had been meeting members of the public at Waterstone’s Piccadilly in London for around an hour-and-a half on Wednesday afternoon when a man who had been waiting in the queue suddenly lashed out, he said.

Lewis was bruised, upset and shaken after the incident and was checked over by a doctor.

The singer’s spokesman, who witnessed the attack, said: “She was doing a signing to launch her new book. Hundreds of fans had been queuing since last night.”

He said she had been happily signing autographs for around an 90 minutes when “a guy came up and punched her to the side of the head”.

He did not hear the man say anything to Lewis during the “unprovoked” incident and security officers swooped.

Lewis sustained bruising to the side of the head and was left “shaken”, he said, adding that she had gone to see the doctor. “She is absolutely gutted she did not get the signings finished,” he said.

The spokesman said that to hit a woman was “beyond cowardly”.

The former X Factor winner was signing copies of her autobiography, Dreams.

Police said officers were called to Waterstone’s and a man has been arrested “following reports of an assault against a female”.
