Reports have been running rampant that a “financially-strapped” Lindsay Lohan has been spending all of Samantha Ronson’s hard-earned dollars, but according to insiders Ronson only earns the big bucks she does because of her romance with the high-profile actress.

Tarts has been told that prior to her relationship with Lohan, Ronson was lucky to earn $5000 a night but since dating the starlet her rate has doubled and even gone up again a little more in recent times. But it gets better — apparently these days it is often written in to Ronson’s contract for certain bookings that if she brings her girlfriend to the gig she pulls around $25,000. So is Lohan the main reason Ronson is who she is and earns what she earns anyway?

“A few years ago it was the same thing with AM, he earned more when he brought (then-girlfriend) Nicole Richie,” said an insider. “But he’s a very talented DJ and has since built a career of his own.”

A rep for Ronson did not respond for comment.

So while Lind’s career in front of the camera may not exactly be running hot right now, the 22-year-old’s business ventures are going strong even despite the depressing economy and her well, occasional wild ways. According to West Hollywood boutique Kitson, her leggings line 6126 has been literally running out the door since its launch in July last year and that is with most consumers not even realizing LiLo is behind the brand.

We’ve also confirmed she’s already designing for the upcoming season — the party princess even gave up her Monday afternoon to give her showroom and buyers at Los Angeles Market Week a sneak peak as she desperately wants to make it big in the business world.

Miss Lohan also just inked an exclusive deal with cosmetics giant Sephora to release a tanning mist “Seven Nyne” which will hit the stores nationwide May 1st.

“Lindsay is determined to be on her best behavior and is working extra hard,” added a source close to the starlet. “She has been told if she steps out of line even a little her deals will be screwed and she obviously doesn’t want that to happen.”

HE most talked-about twosome in Hollywood are talking with a couples counselor to resolve their escalating problems, an insider told Page Six.

Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson “are fighting like cats and dogs,” according to our source. “They fight every day, screaming, crying and yelling at each other.

“Sam and Lindsay are still very much together and very much in love, but drama just seems to follow Lindsay, and Sam hates it. She deals with Lindsay every day. And every day for Sam means questioning, ‘Is this worth it?’ ”

Page Six spies saw Lohan and Ronson get into a spat outside of Citrine on West 21st Street recently, and the London Sun published details of a explosive argument this week outside Boujis in London, where Ronson was deejaying. The paper reported “all hell broke loose” and the the screaming match ended with Lohan “in tears.”

On Nov. 4, a video posted online showed Lohan, 22, snapping at Ronson, 31, to “pull the car up, Sam” in front of a slew of fotogs. “Lindsay is high-maintenance and a lot to deal with,” another insider divulged. “And Sam has always dealt with her. But it isn’t easy.”

Lohan – who insists she is not a lesbian despite her relationship with Ronson – “will go straight back to guys” if she and Ronson do split, said one source. Rumors of her flirting with Chase Crawford and her ex-boyfriend Calum Best add fuel to the combustible situation.

“The things they argue about have to do with their age difference,” said our insider. “But no matter what happens, at the end of the day, they are always fine.”

A rep for Lohan said only that she’s unaware of any therapy sessions.

Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson have hit a rocky patch in their relationship -just weeks after going public with their romance.

The Hollywood pair, who have been inseparable for months, are said to be drifting apart and bickering on a daily basis.

Insiders tell MailOnline DJ Ronson has made it clear to that she wants Lohan to step out of the limelight amid fears the actress may have lapsed back into her old partying ways.

The comparatively low-key Ronson is also said to feel ‘smothered’ by all the attention Lohan pays her and is anxious to step away from the media spotlight.

A source said: ‘Sam needs her space away from Lindsay and really needs to take a long look at what the future of this relationship can be.

‘Sam’s friends have been saying for a while that Lindsay still likes men as well as women. And for Lindsay’s part, she’s still caught up in her partying ways.

‘Samantha doesn’t need that in her life, not now, not ever. If these two are going to be together for the long term, Lindsay is the one who’s going to have to change, calm down, and get real. Sam’s made that very clear to her.’

The source continued: ‘Clearly, they were spending a little too much time together, and Samantha was the one who said Lindsay was getting in the way, and even acting obsessive at times.

‘Samantha DJ’ed three big parties around the Emmy weekend in Los Angeles, and Lindsay was practically on top of her for every minute of those gigs. Lindsay was behaving in a very smothering way.

‘For a man or a woman, it can be hard when your girlfriend insists on going to work with you every day.

‘The problem here is that Samantha is intent on being taken seriously as a DJ, and the Lindsay sideshow was starting to overwhelm that.’

Two weeks ago Lohan and Ronson looked blissfully happy together as they holidayed in Mexico.

But the break wasn’t simply a lovers’ getaway.

The source said: ‘The vacation was all about fixing their relationship, because things had gotten dicey in late August and early September as Lindsay and Sam were just getting so much attention – so much that they needed to get out of the country for a while.

‘But things didn’t go well in Mexico. Despite the photos of them playing on the beach, Sam said things were very tense between them when they got back.

‘She’s known for being shy, but what she’s less known for is being a very serious and thoughtful person, and there have always been these second thoughts about how she comes across being in this high profile ‘celebrity romance’.

‘It’s never been something Sam’s been willing to embrace the way Lindsay does. Going to Mexico kind of confirmed a lot of that stuff for Sam.’
