On tonight’s JOY BEHAR SHOW (9 pm on HLN), actress/”Celebrity Rehab” star Mackenzie Phillips tells Joy that she is “re-framing” the word “consensual” in her account of the alleged incestuous relationship with her father, the late musician John Phillips:

Joy: In your book, you admitted to doing drugs and also having consensual sex with your dad. How has your world changed since you came out with all of those revelations?

MacKenzie Phillips: Well, first of all, I’d like to re-frame my word, “consensual.” I didn’t really, as I was writing the book, I thought, this word, it kept sitting wrong with me, but I used it for lack of a better word and since then I’ve been schooled by thousands of incest survivors all across the world that there really is no such thing as consensual incest due to the inherent power a parent has over a child and so I wouldn’t necessarily call it a consensual relationship at this time…

While most Americans spent Thanksgiving with family, Mackenzie Phillips had to find other ways to celebrate the holiday.

Two months after the publication of her memoir, “High on Arrival,” revealed the shocking claim that she had a consensual incestuous relationship with her father, late Mamas and Papas musician John Phillips, the actress said she was excluded from her famous family’s holiday gathering.

“I’ve been uninvited to the family Thanksgiving,” the actress said Wednesday on “Access Hollywood.”

The release of Phillips’ book, and her participation in the various media appearances that followed, is said to have caused a rift within the family.

“I can’t make them come back,” she said. “They have to come back on their own.”

Among those most upset at Phillips is her stepmother, Michelle Phillips, who has previously voiced support for her former husband, saying the incest accusations “should have been made while John was alive.”

“It’s just so strange that she thinks that I should have done it while he was alive,” Phillips said. “If I did, I’m sure she would have said I should have waited until he was dead. There’s never a right time for this family to hear this kind of stuff.”

Another family member who has turned her back on Phillips is half-sister Bijou Phillips.

“I have made attempts [to talk to Bijou]. She just says, ‘I want nothing to do with you,’ ” claimed Phillips.

But the actress says she can still count on half-sister Chynna, who was apparently upset Phillips wasn’t able to be at Thanksgiving with the family.

Despite getting the cold shoulder on turkey day, Phillips said she doesn’t hold hard feelings.

“It’s okay, it’s okay,” she said. “I love Michelle.”

Bijou Phillips is so embarrassed by “High on Arrival,” her half-sister Mackenzie’s book about incest with their late father, she is refusing to fly from Los Angeles to New York for the Dec. 1 premiere of “Made for Each Other.”

Bijou stars in the movie with brothers Danny and Chris Masterson. While she is engaged to Danny in real life, she is married to Chris’ character in the movie, and they have many sex scenes.

The casting was done a year before Mackenzie’s bombshell, but “she’s understandably skittish about answering embarrassing questions,” the movie’s executive producer, Sam Hamadeh, said. “We hope she ends up coming anyway.”

While you’re gossiping at the watercooler about Mackenzie Phillips’ revelation today that she had a 10-year affair with her father, musician John Phillips, you might also be saying, “Could it be true?”

In the new issue of Us Weekly (on newsstands now), Mackenzie’s half-sister Chynna Phillips, 41, says yes, she thinks it is.

Chynna, who is married to Billy Baldwin, tells Us she remembers getting the call from Mackenzie, 49, in 1997 — 11 years after the affair had ended — while she was between flights at LaGuardia Airport in New York City.

“She said, ‘I don’t know why, but I just really felt the need to call you and tell you something that I think you need to know,’” says Chynna. “And she went on to tell me that she had had an incestuous relationship with our dad for about 10 years.”

Chynna was in such shock, she says, that someone “could have dropped a piano on my head and I probably wouldn’t have felt it. But I knew it was true. I mean, who in their right mind would make such a claim if it wasn’t true?”

Mackenzie Phillips will reveal tomorrow on Oprah that her father, Mamas and Papas founder John Phillips, raped her, Gossip Cop has learned. The interview coincides with the release of her memoir, “High on Arrival.” Already it’s been revealed in promos for tomorrow’s program that her father introduced the “One Day at a Time” star to drugs. She recalls, “My father shot me up for the first time.” She also discusses Mick Jagger’s attempt to seduce her and other long-held secrets.

But the most stunning revelation is that John had sex with a drugged-out 19-year-old Mackenzie as she faded in and out of consciousness on the eve of her wedding to Jeff Sessler in 1979. According to a leaked copy of the book, when she later confronted him about it, she said, “We have to talk about how you raped me,” to which he responded, “You mean when we made love?” The two had a long-term incestuous relationship, the memoir reveals.

“My father showed up, determined to stop [the wedding,]” Phillips writes. “I had tons of pills, and Dad had tons of everything too. Eventually I passed out on Dad’s bed.”

“He was full of love, and he was sick with drugs. I woke up that night from a blackout to find myself having sex with my own father,” she explains.

“Had this happened before? I didn’t know. All I can say is it was the first time I was aware of it. For a moment I was in my body, in that horrible truth, and then I slid back into a blackout,” Phillips adds.

The sexual relationship eventually became consensual. “One night Dad said, ‘We could just run away to a country where no one would look down on us. There are countries where this is an accepted practice. Maybe Fiji.’

“He was completely delusional. No, I thought, we’re going to hell for this.”

Earlier this afternoon Oprah tweeted, “Interviewed One Day at a Time’s Mackenzie Phillips. Thought I’d heard it all … beyond shocking! We’re airing it Wednesday.”

Dear Lord ….

Tamerlane Phillips doesn’t sound proud to be the son of Mamas and Papas founder John Phillips and the brother of Bijou Phillips. Upon learning that his half-sister Mackenzie Phillips will appear this week on Oprah Winfrey’s show to promote “High on Arrival” — her book about her troubled childhood and her drug habit — Tamerlane, 38, said:

“My family is and always will be a decrepit bowl of dog urine compared to Nityananda of Ganeshpuri. That is how great Nityananda is.” The In dian yogi died in 1961. “Wor ship Nityananda, not the Phillips family. Nityananda can protect you,” said Tamerlane.

MacKenzie Phillips has entered rehab, her attorney Blair Berk confirmed Wednesday.

Phillips is seeking treatment following her arrest on Aug. 27 for alleged drug possession at Los Angeles International Airport. She was found “carrying what appeared to be heroin and cocaine in baggies and balloons,” airport police said.

Since then, the former One Day at a Time star has been formally charged with two felonies, for possession of heroin and cocaine, as well as a misdemeanor charge of unauthorized possession of a hypodermic needle or syringe.

If convicted of all charges, Phillips faces three years and eight months in prison for the two felonies, and six months in jail for the misdemeanor, prosecutors said. Phillips’s arraignment is set for Oct. 3.

The actress, 48, has long struggled with drug addiction – making multiple trips to rehab – stemming back to her youth while starring on the ’70s sitcom.

Actress MacKenzie Phillips was arrested on suspicion of possession of cocaine and heroin by Los Angeles airport police this morning after the narcotics were discovered during a screening by federal security staff, authorities said.

“During a secondary screening process she was found in possession of what appeared to be a small amount of heroin and cocaine,” said Los Angeles Airport Police Sgt. Jim Holcomb. “She was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and transported to the airport station.”

Phillips, 48, was arrested about 10 a.m. during a baggage screening by Transportation Security Administration officials in Terminal 4 of LAX, Holcomb said.

Authorities did not immediately say where Phillips was planning to travel or whether she was alone at the time.

The alleged narcotics were in balloons and baggies typically used for heroin and cocaine, officials said.

Phillips was formally booked at the LAPD’s Van Nuys jail facility shortly before 1 p.m., where she remained in custody this afternoon, jail records show.

Her bail has been set at $10,000.

Phillips, who has spoken publicly about her struggles with drugs, first gained attention for her role in the movie “American Graffiti,” which was released in 1973. She went on to star in the television comedy series “One Day at a Time,” but had well-publicized problems with substance abuse during the show’s run and left the production at least twice.

In a return to TV in the 1990s, she played a high school drug counselor on the Fox show “Beverly Hills, 90210.” She has had stints in Broadway productions and has worked regularly in the entertainment business.

Her last public problems with drugs date back well over a decade.

Phillips is the daughter of the late John Phillips of The Mamas & The Papas and the half-sister of singer Chynna Phillips and actress Bijou Phillips.
