There’s nothing like an eye catching campaign to highlight a worthy cause.

And designer Marc Jacobs has certainly managed it with this new revealing photograph of Victoria’s Secret model Marisa Miller.

The model wears nothing except a pair of baseball boots in the image, designed to create awareness for Jacobs’ skin cancer awareness campaign ‘Protect The Skin You’re In.’

The image of the 32-year-old Miller will appear on T-shirts which will be available at Marc Jacobs boutiques, with all proceeds benefiting the NYU Cancer Institute.

And it’s a cause close to the model’s heart.

‘Make up artists have told me that my skin looks better now than when I was 24,’ she said earlier this year.

‘We have so many great products now that there’s no reason to put yourself at risk for a tan.’

But Miller, who came third in this year’s FHM magazine’s Sexiest Women In The World poll, isn’t the first to have stripped down to their birthday suit for the designer’s campaign.

It has also featured the likes of Heidi Klum, Helena Christensen, Dita Von Teese, Naomi Campbell and Victoria Beckham all baring all for the cause.

‘Since we moved to California I have realised how important it is to practise safe sun for myself and to keep my three boys’ skin well protected as well. Skin cancer is a huge problem and I really wanted to help raise awareness by taking part in Marc’s initiative,’ Victoria has said of her decision to take part.

Marc Jacobs is hairier than ever.

The bearded fashion designer underwent hair-transplant surgery in May.

“Wincing at how much the procedure hurt, he says, ‘I couldn’t sleep on my side, and I couldn’t put my head back,’ ” Details magazine reports. The ordeal was even more painful than being tattooed. “I didn’t cry over those,” Jacobs said.

The accompanying photo shows a luxuriant black mop atop his scalp.

Marc Jacobs’ “The Whole Equals the Sum of Its Parts” speech at the CFDA Awards Monday night isn’t the only thing that has fashionistas wondering if the hunky designer and his Brazilian fiancé, Lorenzo Martone, are whole or apart.

Martone, the head of ARC PR and a newly minted swimsuit designer, according to WWD, was nowhere to be found at the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s equivalent of the Oscars – or in Jacobs’ acceptance speech. Some eagle-eyed nightlifers are wondering if Martone’s make-out session with another man late last week had anything to do with his conspicuous absence.

After winning the CFDA’s Womenswear Designer of the Year award at Alice Tully Hall, Jacobs told the crowd that the maxim he’d learned in math class – “the whole equals the sum of its parts” – also applied “to putting on a show and getting out a collection.” When Jacobs proceeded to thank the people who had paved his way to the podium – “my parts” – audience members expected some kind of acknowledgement of the dashing Martone, to whom Jacobs became “engaged” in March 2009 after the two had dated for a year.

But Jacobs never mentioned his beau, giving credence to longstanding rumors that things had cooled between the revered fashion designer and the former model. Oddly enough, the studly duo seemed quite together at last Thursday’s amfAR Inspiration Gala at the New York Public Library.

“They were holding hands during Cyndi Lauper’s finale, ‘True Colors,’” says a spy who attended the benefit. “Lorenzo gave Marc his hand, and Marc put it in his lap. It totally looked like they were a couple, to everyone who was watching.”

The pair left the amfAR party with pop singers Ricky Martin and Lance Bass and headed to The Park restaurant on 10th Ave. in Chelsea to celebrate Wilhelmina Models CEO Sean Patterson’s birthday. When Patterson invited a group of friends to continue the celebration at his SoHo apartment on Wooster St., Martone accepted the invitation, but Jacobs didn’t. And that’s where Martone might have gotten into hot water with Jacobs.

Insiders tell Gatecrasher that one of the male guests at Patterson’s home caught the eye of Martone. To complicate matters, the guest had arrived with his girlfriend. One thing led to another, and the sources say the woman caught her boyfriend in a lengthy liplock with Martone and freaked out. A messy argument erupted, with “lots of yelling,” one source says, and the situation only got uglier from there. Was it so messy that Jacobs got wind of it?

The designer could not be reached for comment by deadline, and when Gatecrasher ran our story by Martone, he declined to comment. Stay tuned.

“They’ve both been telling people that they broke up,” friends said.

Martone shot down rumors this month that he’d moved out of the Chelsea Merchantile apartment he shared with Jacobs, but sources say he’s planning to go soon. Martone wasn’t with Jacobs in Provincetown last week for the wedding of Jacobs’ business partner, Robert Duffy. Jacobs served as best man.

A rep for Jacobs said, “We don’t comment on Marc’s personal life.” Martone also declined to comment.

Duffy (who has amassed 6,700 followers on the social networking site) has spilled the beans the past week about almost everything relating to Marc’s highly anticipated show Monday, including pictures of some of the collection and the set, and specific instances of “model drama.”

But the prez of Jacobs’ company may have crossed the line when he snapped a pic of a very naked man who looked like he was pole dancing at Jacobs’ after-party on the 18th floor of the Standard Hotel Monday night.

The tweet, which has since been deleted from his page, was replaced by one yesterday morning in which Duffy apologizes: “The pic of the guy from the party was taken down because Fr-d didn’t want it up anymore. I thought it harmless. His wife didn’t. Sorry.”

Duffy wasn’t alone in enjoying the goings-on: We hear that Rachel Zoe, Bee Shaffer and Jacobs’ hubby Lorenzo Martone were enjoying the, err, festivities as well.

While that incriminating pic (who we assume was of an entertainer named Fred) was removed, Duffy posted other party pics on his page, including a not-so-flattering shot of him and Jacobs at the bash.

After several of Duffy’s followers commented that Jacobs, who had his eyes closed in the picture, looked inebriated, Duffy took to his page once again.

“NO [Marc] wasn’t drunk in that picture,” he tweeted. “He was happy and giving me a kiss. Be nice please.”

Given his affinity for TMI, perhaps it’s better that Duffy didn’t join Jacobs the rest of the evening. As the businessman tweeted a goodnight to fans, we hear the designer kept the party going.

Spies at hot spot Avenue say Jacobs joined Julie Henderson at the Supermodels Doing Good event around 2 a.m., where the likes of Kellan Lutz and AnnaLynne McCord (who came and left separately) and Russell Simmons continued to fete the fashionisto.

Marc Jacobs’ fashion show is always the hottest ticket in town — but Jacobs doesn’t want it that way this year.

“I’m not into the celebrity thing . . . like we used to,” he tells Style.com. “That’s boring . . . We’re not going to have celebrities. Last season, we had two celebrities . . . one because Lady Gaga was doing our party, and she didn’t even make it to her seat because we started the show be fore she got there. And one was Madonna. She came backstage, and I was like, ‘What do you do with her now?’ Because it’s not like she was invited. She just called and said she was coming, and we weren’t holding the show for her. She just came, and that was it. There are certain things I can’t control.”

Jacobs adds, “We used to have all the celebrities and people there, and I think that at that moment in time, that’s what people loved. It generated so much press and at a cer tain point it was like, ‘Did anybody actu ally watch the show?’ ”

Although photos of the designer and his Brazilian boyfriend posing in front of what looked like a wedding cake while on vacation in St. Barts were posted online.

Monday, Jacobs’ rep, Kate Waters, said: “Someone just threw them a party. They’re still happily engaged, but not married.”

Back in November, Martone told us the couple were planning on getting married, but were just “waiting for the holidays.”
