Sources said Richie, who founded clothing and accessories lines Winter Kate and House of Harlow 1960, will join show mentor Jessica Simpson and host Elle Macpherson on the program, where aspiring designers compete for a multimillion-dollar contract for their line to be carried at major retailers. The show, created by former NBC exec Ben Silverman’s development company, Electus, doesn’t have an air date yet.
An NBC rep had no comment.

The 29-year-old star stunned Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden when he received their credit card bill, which revealed her extravagant purchase.
Joel wrote on twitter: “Do you ever look at your credit card bill and ask your wife how the hell she could spend 3 thousand dollars on pillows? I do. PILLOWS.
“I mean, can’t we just go to Target and get our pillows??? [Shaking My Head]‘
“i was thinking they must be made from unicorn manes or some s**t.”
However, Nicole – who has a daughter Harlow, three, and son Sparrow, 19 months with Joel – seemed unfazed by her husband’s tirade, simply retorting: “That’s why I ignore your calls.”
Despite Nicole’s apparent indifference to her husband’s rage, Joel, 31, later revealed he had insisted the pillows were returned to the store and replaced by some from discount retail store Target.
He tweeted: “Needless to say, the pillows are going back to the expensive ass pillow store. Hope she likes the Target pillows I’m putting in their place!…Trust me the pillows were gone before i even tweeted!”
Despite Nicole Richie being a busy mom and fashion designer, but she still found the time to stun in the pages of March’s Russian Harper’s Bazaar.

Nicole Richie is no longer on probation for a 2006 drunken-driving case.
A spokeswoman for the reality star-turned-fashion designer says a judge ended Richie’s probation Wednesday after receiving proof that the 29-year-old had satisfied its terms.
Publicist Nicole Perna says Richie was to remain on probation until February, but the judge agreed to end probation early because Richie completed its requirements, including attending an 18-month alcohol-education program.
Richie wed her her longtime boyfriend, rocker Joel Madden, this month. They have two children together.
A representative for Nicole Richie has dismissed reports the star has signed a $100,000 deal with a U.S. magazine to publish snaps of her wedding to Joel Madden.
The couple married in front of friends and family during a romantic ceremony at Richie’s father Lionel’s Beverly Hills estate on Saturday.
Madden’s twin brother and Good Charlotte bandmate Benji served as best man while the socialite’s pal Samantha Ronson was among the bridesmaids. Other guests included Gwen Stefani, Ashlee Simpson and Kris Jenner.
The happy couple’s children, Harlow, two, and 15-month-old Sparrow, were also at the ceremony.
Weekend reports suggested the couple’s representatives were negotiating an exclusive magazine deal ahead of the big day, with aims to land a whopping $100,000 for the snaps, which the socialite reportedly planned to donate to charity.
However, Richie’s rep has denied the claims, telling the New York Post: “Your information is incorrect.”
There was an elephant in the room of Nicole Richie’s and Joel Madden’s wedding this weekend — literally.
The couple of four years — who have two children together, Harlow, 2, and Sparrow, 15 months — tied the knot in front of approximately 130 guests on Saturday at Lionel Richie’s Los Angeles home, people.com reported.
A trained elephant was also reportedly seen being led onto the estate of the 29-year-old bride’s father.
Richie and Madden, 31, exchanged Neil Lane rings during the winter-themed ceremony as their daughter, Harlow, 2, played flower girl, according to usmagazine.com.
Masha Gordon, an old friend of Richie’s, reportedly served as maid of honor and Madden’s twin brother, Good Charlotte band mate Benji, was best man.
The musician’s older brother, DJ Josh Madden, took to Twitter to commemorate the event.
“The stuff of which memories are made,” he tweeted.
Gwen Stefani, Ashlee Simpson and Samantha Ronson also reportedly attended the wedding, along with Khloe Kardashian, who tweeted, “I love weddings!” from the ceremony.
Richie wore a custom-made Marchesa gown and celeb stylist Byron Williams of Byron & Tracey in Beverly Hills tamed her locks, eonline.com reported.
The couple, who announced their engagement in February, are not the first in Hollywood to include an elephant at their wedding. In October, Katy Perry and Russell Brand invited two elephants to their nuptials in India.
