The former ‘Baywatch’ actress is keen to put her fame and power to good use by joining the United Nations to help those less fortunate than her as she always does her best to highlight social problems.

The keen animal rights activist said: “An aspiration of mine since I started in this business is to one day fulfil the role of goodwill ambassador to the UN. I’ve always thought this was a romantic, interesting element of stardom, back to the days of Audrey Hepburn.

“I’ve always included social issues as well as animal issues in whatever country I’m visiting – no matter how trivial the job may seem. I use the possibilities and opportunities I’m blessed with to bring awareness, which makes me feel great. It brings meaning to my career in a unique way.”

Pamela says she has a lot of views and opinions on the world and is disappointed she never gets asked them.
She said: “If I could interview myself, I’d ask the questions I never get asked – my political views, views on art, culture, the world. Poignant writers. Global issues that I have strong opinions about. We’ll get there.”

The former ‘Baywatch’ star was followed along a platform by the young man at Liverpool Lime Street station, England, after a stint in the city taking part in a pantomime – a traditional British Christmas theatre show.

The unidentified male followed the 43-year-old beauty along cars of the train, but police managed to stop him from getting too close to her by halting him with pepper spray.

A statement from British Transport Police read: “The man became verbally abusive to rail staff when he was asked to produce a ticket. British Transport Police attended and the man became violent and assaulted an officer and was arrested.

“Officers were forced to use capture spray as the man resisted arrest.”

Pamela – who was playing the Genie in the pantomime version of ‘Aladdin’ at Liverpool’s Empire Theatre, and was heading back to London – was said to be “shaken” by the incident.

A source on the 8.48pm train to London Euston said: “A load of them jumped on him and spayed him before hauling him off by his arms and legs.

“She was shaken up, but glad he was taken away before anything happened.”

Pamela Anderson spread some Christmas cheer over the festive season – she visited two charities in Britain to lend her support to their cause.

The former Baywatch star spent the holidays in the U.K., where she is appearing in a pantomime stage production in Liverpool, England.

And she took a break from traditional celebrations on Christmas Day to visit an animal shelter and a home for victims of domestic violence.

In a series of posts on her Twitter.com page, she writes, “On Christmas Day I visited the Liverpool RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). There were 120 beautiful dogs… And 20-30 gorgeous cats and kittens… I brought treats and toys… but truly they all need wonderful homes… Please rescue animals from shelter… pet stores are not the way to go.”

She later posted a link to a domestic violence helpline, adding, “On Christmas Day I also discreetly visited a home for families that have been victims of domestic abuse…”

Pamela Anderson is urging anyone who suspects they have hepatitis to get tested – because there is no reason to “feel embarrassed” about the condition.

The former Baywatch star was diagnosed with a strain of the liver disorder back in 2001 after contracting it through a shared tattoo needle.

Anderson controls the condition with medical help, and she wants to raise awareness to make sure other hepatitis victims don’t suffer in silence.

She tells Britain’s The People, “I’ve had liver biopsies. I get checked every single year, my doctor told me just keep doing what you’re doing. I also have the kind that’s easiest to control. There is no cure for it, so the important thing is to encourage people to get tested and not be ashamed. People get embarrassed as you get it from blood-to-blood contact, but it’s not just junkies who have it.”

She’s no stranger to posing in her underwear, but Pamela Anderson stripped for a different sort of photoshoot today as she launched a new competition for phone company Nokia.

Wearing a variety of sexy outfits, Pamela, who became infamous for the notorious sex tape she filmed with her then husband Tommy Lee in the 1990s, reclines on a bed in a hotel room.

The photographs have been released after it was announced Pamela, 43, will be filming a bedroom scene with a complete stranger for a short film called The Commuter.

Her co-star will be organized by Nokia through the new competition, and the film will be shot on the company’s soon-to-launch N8 handset.
It will also have a London premiere, to which winners will be invited.

In addition, there is also the chance for fans to win the chance to appear alongside Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick in another scene, shot in a lift, for the movie.

John Nichols, head of marketing at Nokia UK, said: ‘We wanted to create something very special for the launch of the Nokia N8 that showcases the Hollywood quality of its camera.’

Details will be available at www.starwithpam.com and www.starwithed.com.

The former ‘Baywatch’ babe prefers to take part in pantomime productions – a type of British comedy musical theatre show traditionally shown around Christmas time – rather than wearing skimpy outfits for TV roles.

Pamela,43, enjoyed starring in ‘Aladdin’ last year, she is set to take part in another staging of the show later this year.

She said: “My agent came to me and just said, ‘This is something you probably don’t want to do but how about pantomime?’

“He explained it was a kind of theatre and I thought it would be fun. He told me that it was funny and light-hearted and I thought it would be perfect because it’s funny that I’m on stage at all!

“I have two homes in Malibu and I just love pouring my heart out in pantomime. I feel that this is where I should be headed, moreso than wearing bikinis.”

The 43-year-old beauty is set to play the Genie in the magic lamp when the comedic adaptation of the legendary story hits the stage in Liverpool, North West England, later this year, and Pamela admits the role is a dream come true.

She said: “Flying on stage wearing my cape and singing ‘Genie In A Bottle’ with fireworks going off? You can’t get any better than that.”

The former Baywatch pin-up, who is in the U.K. to promote her upcoming role in traditional Christmas pantomime Aladdin, thrilled clubbers at Funky Mojoes in Essex when she showed up for the nightspot’s two year anniversary celebrations.

According to Britain’s The People newspaper, Anderson took home a whopping $18,000 for simply sipping booze in the VIP room and posing for snaps with revellers.
