Pamela Anderson has denied she is nearly penniless following a string of financial blows, insisting she owns a number of properties in the U.S. and Canada.

The California Franchise Tax Board released its annual list of delinquent tax payers earlier this month and named the Baywatch beauty as one of the main culprits, citing a $500,000 debt.

But the star is adamant she is far from being poor – because she snapped up several houses when she was making millions.

She tells Britain’s Daily Mirror, “I have a beautiful home in Canada, nine little cabins on the dock that I’m building on Vancouver Island and a store in the front. That’s going to be kind of my sanctuary. I think eventually I’ll be out of LA. I have been building my place in Malibu for four years; it’s not finished yet.”

And she blames the economic crisis for her ailing bank account – because people who hired her couldn’t afford to pay up.

She adds, “Everyone went through a lot in the last couple of years. The economic situation caused a lot of stress. People didn’t pay me, but it’s all sorted out now.”

California officials say former “Baywatch” star Pamela Anderson has failed to pay $493,000 in personal income tax. Anderson is on the annual list of delinquent taxpayers released Monday by the California Franchise Tax Board.

The 42-year-old actress is currently competing on the television show “Dancing With the Stars.”

Anderson is among 250 individual and business taxpayers that owe more than $100,000 in back taxes. State records show a tax lien for $493,144 was filed against Anderson in April 2009.

Her attorney, Robert T. Leonard of Woodland Hills, says he is representing Anderson in the matter but declined to comment further.

Yesterday, nymag.com’s Vulture blog talks to Pamela Anderson’s 85-year-old Auntie Vie about Pam’s first night on Dancing With the Stars:

Pamela said she was doing the show partly for you. How did that feel?
She’s very close to me. I had Pamela stay with me for a while after she graduated from high school, before she went to Hollywood. I’ve had all my nieces and nephews at one time stay with me. So that’s how it came about, sweetheart.

How did you think Pamela did on Monday night?
I think she did wonderful. It was very sexy and very beautiful. I just loved her dancing, I could watch it all the time. That middle judge [Len Goodman], he is so mean. She worked so hard, her little feet were so swollen. You’d think that he could say something pleasant when she worked so hard. But the other judges, they were very nice, especially the girl.

Pamela Anderson donned a barely- there swimsuit on a catwalk to promote her new fashion line this week — but she doesn’t really think much of her body.

The busty former “Baywatch” babe — who joined designer Richie Rich to launch new line A*Muse — said that despite years of baring her famous flesh, she still doesn’t think she looks that good. Right after taking to the catwalk in a revealing metallic bathing suit for their show Wednesday night at Amnesia, she said, “I never feel confident. I really don’t love my body.”

But Anderson, who’s single again after splitting with electrician boyfriend Jamie Padgett, says she’ll star in the next season of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” starting March 22.

With a new fashion line to plug, Pamela Anderson was hoping to get as much publicity as possible.

But despite showcasing the designs herself in the tiniest of little black dresses in a chic Miami nightclub, her fashion show failed to bring in the crowds last night.

The former Baywatch star, 41, was left red-faced when only 20 people were there to greet her as she turned up to the Play venue to watch her A*Muse fashion show.

Anderson arrived wearing a black mini-dress with plunging neckline and asymmetrical hemline.

The $25-a-head event had been advertised as a club night and fashion show co-hosted by Anderson and her designer pal Richie Rich.

Fans willing to pay between $20,000 and $50,000 for the ‘Penthouse package’ hire of the VIP Penthouse Room at the club were offered the chance to party with Anderson after the show.

The disappointing turnout marked the latest event in Anderson and Rich’s nightclub tour of the U.S., promoting their A*Muse line.

Anderson has thrown herself behind the project after splitting from electrician boyfriend Jamie Padgett a few weeks ago. The couple had dated for just over a year.

A source told the American edition of OK! magazine: ‘Pam made it pretty clear she is no longer dating Jamie and that she was looking for a new love interest.

‘She didn’t have anything bad to say about him and described him as a “sweet guy” and that she hoped they would remain friends.’

Anderson and Padgett started dating last year after meeting at Malibu’s Cove Trailer Park, where the star moved after building work forced her out of her home.

But after three failed marriages behind her, it’s unlikely Anderson will be moping about after the split.

In a recent interview, she admitted she’s made some mistakes, but would keep on trying.

She told Marie Claire: ‘I’ve had lots of things that didn’t work out, like TV shows. You learn a lot through mistakes – I learned that you have to be the captain of your ship. Actually, I own my ship.

‘People always tell me, “Reinvent yourself, re-this, re-whatever.” I haven’t reinvented myself.

‘It’s an honest evolution. I’ve always been authentic. Except for the boobs.’
