Pete Wentz and his new girlfriend, model Meagan Camper are heating up their romance as they just returned from spending few nights together at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

The happy couple dined at the hotel’s newly opened 35 Steaks + Martinis restaurant where Pete dined on Spicy Tuna and asparagus while sipping a Diet Coke. Meagan chose a Caesar Salad for dinner. They were joined by Desperate Housewife’s actor Shawn Pyfrom and several other friends. All the guys in the party celebrated being in Vegas with shots of Don Julio Silver while Pete and Meagan shared the signature King of Desserts at the end of their late night meal. After the dinner the group headed to Vanity Nightclub where they danced until wee hours.

The Fall Out Boy bassist – who is divorcing Ashlee Simpson after almost three years of marriage – says he is glad that the troubled ‘Two and a Half Men’ actor is dominating recent headlines because he thinks it distracts the media from speculating about him and his family.

He said: “I think that one of the things, the hardest thing, is that when you’re a public profile it’s hard to maintain your private life, and you wanna do it especially when there’s a kid involved.

“It’s like the one time on earth I’m like, ‘Thank God, Charlie Sheen exists.’”

Pete – who filed a divorce response last week asking Ashlee for joint custody of their son, two-year-old Bronx Mowgli – also revealed that despite the split he and his estranged wife are still “best friends”.

He explained on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM radio show: “Ashlee’s been my best friend for five years; she’s the mother of my child. I have nothing but love and respect for her and going through something like this isn’t easy, but we’re friends and the most important thing is to put our son first.”

The 31-year-old musician also opened up about Bronx, saying despite his parent’s separation the little boy is doing “awesome”.

He said: “Bronx is doing awesome. It’s something new every day. Everything’s a new discovery for him. He’s opening doors and he wants to paint. He hides cell phones and credit cards.”

Ashlee Simpson looks to be heading for a child custody battle after her husband Pete Wentz submitted legal papers asking for joint primary and legal custody of the couple’s son Bronx.

Ashlee Simpson, the American singer-songwriter who recently split from husband Pete Wentz, appears to be caught up in a child custody battle after the pair filed differing court requests concerning their son Bronx, reports Tmz.com.

Wentz has submitted legal papers in Los Angeles where he asks for joint primary and legal custody, but 26-year-old Ashlee has sought primary physical custody and joint legal custody. Another discrepancy in the couple’s requests is that Wentz is seeking each party to pay their own legal fees, while Simpson is looking for the Fall Out Boy star to pay both.

The couple married back in 2008 when Ashlee was three months pregnant with their little-boy Bronx. It is currently unclear why the pair decided to separate but a statement released after their divorce announcement noted, “We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our number one priority”.

Ashlee Simpson released her last album, ‘Bittersweet World’ in 2008. The record, produced by Timbaland, Chad Hugo and Kenna, peaked at number four on the US Billboard 200.

Simpson filed for divorce from the Fall Out Boy bassist on Wednesday in Los Angeles, citing irreconcilable differences, court records show. The singer and actress is seeking physical custody of their 2-year-old son.

“After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce,” the former couple said in a joint statement. “We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our No. 1 priority.”

Simpson married Wentz in May 2008 and her court filing does not indicate when the couple broke up.

She is the sister of performer Jessica Simpson and has released three albums and appeared in the reboot of the television series “Melrose Place.”

Wentz’s band, Fall Out Boy, said in early 2010 that is was taking a break, although the 31-year-old said at the time that the group’s breakup had been blown out of proportion.

The musician wants the couple’s 15-month-old son Bronx Mowgli to have a brother or sister and can’t wait to start trying.

He said: “We are very lucky and hope to have another child at some point. We also like doing what you have to do to have a baby!”

Pete – whose band Fall Out Boy are believed to have split up – insists fatherhood is the best thing that ever happened to him and he has learnt a lot from raising Bronx.

Speaking at Hard Rock International’s Rock and Soul Party in Miami, he added: “My child has taught me selflessness, patience and how to give this unexplained kind of love. I can’t explain this kind of love, but Ashlee – who is just an awesome mom – shares this feeling with me.”
