Rihanna, internationally successful recording artist, had to cut short a show in Dallas last night after fire broke out on the stage at the American Airlines Center. A video posted on Youtube shows a fire burning from the top of the stage, with some sparks falling to the ground.

Rihanna posted on Twitter shortly after the event “Dallas!!! We set the stage on FYAH tonight!!! LITERALLY!!!…I was havin so much fun wit yall too!!! I gotta come back man!!” She later continued, “Dallas yall CRAY!!! Love this f***n place! Glad u guys are safe!!! I promise I’ll be back!!! Heading into a production meeting to find out exactly what happened!!! Keep u posted.”

The fire was thought to have started as a result of a faulty row of lights in the rigging above the stage. The arena was evacuated and the fire brigade called in but the blaze was extinguished before they arrived. Some of the fans are asking for a refund, but it’s thought that it is more likely she will perform the show from scratch again at a later date.

The S&M superstar recently spoke to Cosmopolitan magazine on love and finding it again, “Men are like hunters, they like the chase, so you have to keep ‘em guessing,” Rihanna said. “I’m like that too. I get bored fast. So if someone can make me laugh, that’s the best.”

Rihanna likes her men “hot and hung”.

The’S&M’ singer – who has previously dated singer Chris Brown and been linked to Irish heartthrob Colin Farrell -revealed a large package is her main criteria in a man but says she is quite “spontaneous” in how she chooses a new love.

Asked by Cosmopolitan magazine how she likes her men, Rihanna replied: “Hot and hung, but sweet will do!

“I’m turned on to a guy by different things. It could be the way he looks. It could be his intelligence. It’s really a spontaneous thing.

Rihanna also revealed she has a male attitude to dating, explaining she loves the thrill of the chase but gets bored easily.

She added: “I’m open to love but guys should have to earn it because the minute they get it, they want something else. Men are like hunters; they like the chase. So you have to keep them guessing.

“Actually, I’m like that too. I get bored very quickly. So if someone can make me laugh, that’s the best.”

Angry activists at a TV parents group have branded Britney Spears and Rihanna’s risque performance at the Billboard Music Awards a “profanity-laced sex show”.

The two pop stars teamed up to duet on Rihanna’s track S&M at the Las Vegas ceremony on Sunday, pole-dancing onstage in matching leather bodices with their hands clamped with handcuffs.

The performance, which opened the Billboard ceremony, has infuriated officials at the Parents Television Council.

A statement from PTC President Tim Winter reads, “The song title alone reeks of the adult entertainment industry and last night’s performance wasn’t far from it. What happened in Vegas should have stayed in Vegas, as the saying goes. It certainly has no place at 8pm on the publicly-owned broadcast airwaves.

“I cannot imagine what would possibly lead the ABC television network to air a profanity-laced, S&M sex show on primetime broadcast television.

“The overtly sexualized performance by Rihanna and Britney Spears was no accident or mishap, but a deliberate effort to target teens with images and lyrics that that glamorize whips, chains and other sexual fetishes.”

Rihanna hit the East Village’s La Vie Lounge with Power 105.1′s DJ Prostyle Tuesday night, and the duo was seen grinding “till the lights came up at 4 a.m.,” said a source.

They even declined a VIP table to be on the dance floor, says our spy, who added: “They looked pretty cozy and left together.” Posting a picture of himself and Rihanna, he tweeted, “Me and my girl @Rihanna in the club chilling,” later adding, “Still toasting with my girl Ri Ri @rihanna !!”

The Umbrella hitmaker, real name Robyn Rihanna Fenty, has two younger brothers from Ronald’s 14-year marriage to her mum Monica.

But now Ronald has confirmed that Rihanna is both a younger sister and an auntie after going public with his three other children, each by different mothers.

Rihanna’s eldest half-sister is 32-year-old Kandy, who first met the singer when she was just 15.

Kandy, who works as a pharmacy assistant in Rihanna’s native Barbados, insists her daughters Brandy, 14, and 11-year-old Crystal, are very proud of their aunt.

She tells Britain’s The Sun newspaper, “My girls thought she was great fun and now, of course, they love the fact their auntie is one of the most famous singers in the world. They love her music and are always singing her songs at the top of their voices.”

Ronald also reveals that Rihanna has a 30-year-old half-sister, Samantha, as well as a 27-year-old half-brother Jamie.

The Umbrella singer leads Eminem and Lady Gaga for the most nods, while Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber were also handed double-figure nominations at a ceremony on Wednesday in Las Vegas.

Rihanna is up for Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Female Artist, Top R&B Artist and Top Dance/Electronic Artist, while her Love the Way You Lie duet with Eminem, places her as a contender in six song categories.

Eminem is a finalist in 16 award categories, including Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Artist, Top Male Artist and Top Rap Artist, and Lady Gaga follows as a finalist in 12 categories.

Mars and Bieber are up for 11 awards each.

The Billboard Music Awards will take place in Las Vegas on May 22, 2011.

‘Hold It Against Me’ hitmaker Britney appears on a remix of Rihanna’s recent raunchy single ‘S&M’, with the Barbadian singer promising the results are “sexy”.

She tweeted: “I got a #SEXY collabo comin your way supa dupa soon!!!! OH YEAH!!! By popular demand… Its BRITNEY BITCH!!!!”

Britney responded, tweeting back: “You’re such a tease! I like it, like it. You think they’re ready Ri Ri?”

Britney returned the compliment, writing: “You ain’t so bad yourself honey.”

‘S&M’ caused controversy when it was released in January, with its raunchy video – which sees Rihanna simulating sex with a blow up doll – reportedly banned in 11 countries, mainly in South East Asia.

It was also edited for commercial radio in the UK, with certain words including “sex”, “whips” and “chains” omitted.

A release date for the remix has yet to be given.
