The 35-year-old funnyman – who has previously battled heroin addiction and been arrested 12 times for offences including criminal damage and indecent exposure – flew into Tokyo’s Narita Airport with his wife Katy Perry, who is touring the country, but was denied entry by immigration officials because of his criminal past.

The ‘Firework’ hitmaker broke the news on her twitter page, admitting she was distraught not to be able to show her spouse her “favourite place”.

She tweeted: “So…my husband just got deported from Japan. I am so. sad. I brought him all this way to show him my favorite place. tokyodreamscrushed

“…But of COURSE I heart my Japanese fans & the show #MUSTGOONno matter the daily aftershocks or husband kidnappings! it’snotrightbutit’sokay”

While Katy was upset by Russell’s deportation, the British comic saw the funny side when being questioned by officials and revealed he was planning to escape.

He tweeted: “Planning escape from Japanese custody. It’s bloody hard to dig a tunnel with a chopstick

“Stockholm syndrome kicking in. Just asked my guard out for (vegetarian) sushi. He giggled. (sic)”
When the officials had finished questioning him he tweeted: “Alcatraz! Shawshank Redemption! And now this! Ah, sweet blue bird of freedom!”

Will the real Russell Brand please stand up? The star of the new Arthur reboot, husband of Katy Perry, and recovering drug-and-sex addict may be hard to take seriously. But the lanky, wild-haired Brit might just be the comic genius of our time.

On his marriage to Katy: “at once the most mundane and spectacular thing in the world.” “There are a lot of areas where I’ve simply relinquished decision-making. It really does make my mates laugh, though.”

On being cast in Forgetting Sarah Marshall: Aldous Snow was initially written as a proper English chap, a writer. “We were convinced the casting director had played a gag on us,” says director Nicholas Stoller. “The hair, makeup, clothes—I think he had 18 belts on? Jason [Segel, the film’s star and screenwriter] asked Brand about the role, and he said he’d ‘had a cursory glance’—what a thing to say to a director and writer. Asked about improv, it was as if he’d never heard of that either. Then he started in. When he left, Jason got up and did a jig.” The part was rewritten.

On his tabloid-fueled rocker-sex-god persona: “Well, it seems obvious that to turn myself into a character—incredibly theatrical and rock-and-roll and languid and sexualized—was to emphasize areas where I was confident, to draw the eye from the obvious deficit of a man only just getting over being a junkie. I’ve very confident in the physical manifestation of a rocker. And there are aphorisms I still deem tight: the carnal self is the true self. In that barbaric, marauding period of promiscuity, there was a type of Aleister Crowley ‘Do what thou wilt’ as the sum of the law. That voice you use when you come? I was using it to perform. Not some distant, attic-dwelling emotion brought out occasionally, like a front room you never use except when the vicar visits. I was in there fucking all the time.”

On coping with addiction: “The only way to cope is with a program. If you stop doing recovery, even eating too much chocolate, something will flare up, and I know where that leads, because I’ve been there before. To me, gravity is heroin, and then death.”

The comic actor and his wife Katy Perry own three pussies Kitty Purry, Morrissey – who gets his moniker from the former Smiths frontman – and Krusty – which is a combination of the pop star’s name and the comedian’s nickname Rusty – and intend to spoil them over the festive period.

And the ‘Get Him to the Greek’ star is looking forward to having some down town over the holidays with his equally busy spouse.

He told Big Issue magazine: “I like doing normal things for Christmas – watch the TV , sit down, relax, look out the window, play with the cats, give presents to the cats, expecting that they’ll somehow understand he concept of nativity, that sort of thing.”

The 35-year-old star intends to spend some of the festive season with his mother Barbara and his family in Essex, East England, and some time with Katy’s parents Mary and Keith at their home in California but isn’t sure where the couple will be on the big day itself.

He added: “I’m going to spend the holidays with my family and my wife’s family. We’ll certainly be together, but I don’t know where yet.”

Newlyweds Katy Perry and Russell Brand rejected a string of lucrative offers to sell their wedding photos to the press, because they feared it would only lead to further media intrusion into their lives.

The I Kissed a Girl hitmaker wed the outlandish Brit in a lavish ceremony in India last month and hired burly security guards to keep the paparazzi out.

Brand reveals they were inundated with picture deals from top magazines, but ultimately decided against sharing one of their most intimate moments with the world.

The comedian tells U.S. newsman Larry King, “They offered us money to sell the photos, but once you’ve sold the photos to the wedding, how can you go, ‘Oh, give us privacy!’ We kept them private and normal.”

City prosecutors have met with Russell Brand and say they don’t anticipate filing charges against the comedian for a scuffle with a photographer at Los Angeles International Airport.

City attorney’s spokesman Frank Mateljan says Brand met with prosecutors Wednesday and it is unlikely he will face any charges.

The British actor-comedian was arrested in September at the airport after an alleged attack involving a paparazzo, who placed him under citizen’s arrest.

The incident happened while Brand was traveling with singer Katy Perry, whom he married at a lavish ceremony in India last month.

Mateljan says the photographer, who has not been identified, will meet with a prosecutor on Friday.

The couple married in a lavish ceremony on Saturday at the luxury Aman-i-Khas resort in Rajasthan, India, before jetting off on their honeymoon yesterday, and Russell hopes the couple will be able to make their way through the ancient Indian sex guide.

The comedian joked he would spend the next few days “taking Katy through the Kama Sutra”.

After posting identical messages on their twitter saying: “WE DID!” the newlyweds boarded a private jet at Jaipur airport on Katy’s 26th birthday yesterday and were believed to be en route to the Maldives.

A spokeswoman for Russell said: “They have gone off on their own. This is a special time for them now.”

A friend of the pair added: “Where they’re going is out of the way and they can just relax on the beach, enjoy each other’s company and get massages with no other distractions.”

Meanwhile, it has been reported the couple have run into trouble over their exit from the Aman-i-Khas resort after they reportedly left on a helicopter booked for airlifting a patient.

But Ravi Kumar, District Collector for the region of Sawai Madhopur, rubbished the claims, saying: “I gave permission for special landing of the helicopter to the hotel administration as they need to shift a patient to Jaipur. I am not concerned about who was travelling with the patient.”

A complaint was also filed against six people including Katy and Russell for violating the Wildlife Protection Act through sound pollution caused by fire crackers and loud music during the marriage ceremony.

The couple – who married in a lavish ceremony on Saturday at the luxury Aman-i-Khas resort in Rajasthan, India – and their 85 guests were joined by armed guards, who stepped in to protect the party from the man-eating beast after it was discovered just 50ft away from the celebrations after being attracted to the lights and music of the festivities.

An official told The Sun newspaper: “This particular tiger has killed before. It came into the compound at 11pm, with the party at its peak, and caused pandemonium among staff.”

Meanwhile, Russell, 35, bought his new bride, 26, a female Bengal tiger named Machli, who lives in the Ranthambore National Park near where they tied the knot, as a wedding gift after hearing the big cat was known as the “epitome of beauty” by park rangers.

The creature will stay in its home, with the money the British funnyman paid for the animal going towards its welfare and upkeep at the park.

While the tiger was an unwanted guest at the wedding, one animal the couple were glad to have in attendance was a fortune-telling parrot.

The bird picked out cards in response to guests’ questions and predicted Russell and Katy will have a long life, long marriage and long and successful careers.

British comedian Russell Brand and pop singer Katy Perry married on Saturday in a closely guarded traditional Hindu ceremony at an exclusive hotel resort in India’s Rajasthan.

While the festivities commenced on the grounds of the Amaan-i-Khas resort in the deeply wooded Ranthambore National Park, a tiger reserve some 100 kilometers south of the fort city of Jaipur, the world’s media strained to catch a glimpse.

As the sounds of traditional Rajasthani music drifted from the dozen specially erected tents across the moonlit resort, over 80 international journalists, including 15 British photographers, jostled for space with their telephoto lenses at the gates of the complex, more than 150 meters away.

Private security guards, black screens and a mobile phone ban ensured a veil of secrecy over the wedding after exclusive publicity rights were sold to a London magazine.

“The wedding rituals began around 7 p.m. (9:30 a.m. EDT) and have now (been) completed,” Kajod Mal, a local police officer, told Reuters by telephone from Kotwali town, close to the wedding venue. “We sent some of our men there for security.”

Brand, who has been seen with henna patterns on his hands, arrived on a decorated horse for the wedding, flanked by camels and elephants, the Press Trust of India news agency reported.

Other reports said Barbadian pop star Rihanna played the maid of honor as a priest chanted Hindu hymns around a sacred fire.

As the sun set through the early evening, the guests, who are staying at two nearby resorts, arrived in cars with blacked-out windows. British singer-songwriter Noel Gallagher was reported to be attending the ceremony, as well as Brand’s close friend television presenter Jonathan Ross.

The couple, who landed in Mumbai on Thursday, reportedly chose the resort for their wedding after Brand proposed to Perry at the same location last December. Perry wore an Indian bridal nose ring as she passed through the airport.

On Friday, a Reuters witness said four photographers were attacked by a member of Brand’s security detail while trying to take pictures of the groom-to-be on a safari trip.

One of the actor’s bodyguards smashed camera equipment and injured one of the photographers before taking the keys to their vehicle, leaving them stranded in the tiger reserve.
