It’s good to see that even celebrities aren’t immune from the tenacity of a jobsworth parking attendant.

And it was quite ingenious of Katy Perry to use the situation as an opportunity to show off her expensive new piece of bling.

The pop star found herself slapped with a fine after illegally parking her shiny black Audi on the street as she and fiance Russell Brand stopped for coffee in Los Angeles yesterday.

And as she whipped off the parking ticket from under her windscreen wiper, she couldn’t resist flashing her Cartier engagement ring for all the world to see.

The morning after their night out at a charity gala at the Beverly Hills Hilton on Saturday, Katy, 25, and Russell, 34, went for a caffeine fix at the Intelligentsia Cafe in the trendy Silver Lake district of the city yesterday.

And despite being one of the most talked-about couples at the moment, the pair didn’t abuse their celebrity status and queued for a table just like everyone else.

After staying for coffee, they bought some pastries to take away and went for a stroll around the neighbourhood, before returning to Katy’s car and the ominuous ticket.

But it will probably take more than a parking fine to dampen this the good mood of this couple, who have had loved-up smiles on their faces since they announced their engagement just after the New Year.

Katy showed off her betrothed to the Hollywood jet-set on Saturday night at the The Art of Elysium’s 3rd Annual Black Tie Charity Gala ‘Heaven’ where, at one stage, she sat on his lap for the cameras.

And it was revealed today that love was brewing in the air between them when they first met in 2008 on the set of his latest film Get Him To The Greek.

The movie, which is due for release this June, is the sequel to Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and sees Russell reprise his role as British rock star Aldous Snow.

Katy filmed a cameo scene as herself for the film in which she had to kiss Russell – who tricked her into thinking the cameras were rolling.

In September 2008, a year before they started dating, Russell interviewed Katy on his former Talksport show, which he presented with former Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher.

And he admitted to her that when they filmed their kissing scene, he told her a hidden camera crew were filming it when they weren’t.

But Katy, who was still dating Gym Class Heroes frontman Travis McCoy at the time, confessed in a later interview that kissing her future fiance left her feeling very happy.

She said: ‘My scene called for me to make out with him. And on the way down the stairs after the scene, I was hopping like a bunny. I hop like a bunny when I’m happy – I get a bit childlike.’

Katy Perry has sparked rumours she is pregnant after being seen looking at baby clothes.

The ‘I Kissed A Girl’ singer – who recently announced her engagement to British comic star Russell Brand – took a stroll around some children’s shops in Hampstead, London, on Sunday.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “Russell and Katy had a wander around Hampstead. They visited children’s shoe shop Cubs and had a lot of fun checking out all the little booties.

“They then went to Cafe Rouge for a bit of lunch. Katy ordered scrambled eggs and asked for the eggs to be ‘well done’. And when Russell asked for a portion of chips she loudly announced to the waiter, ‘Hold the mayo’.”

Pregnant women are not allowed to eat freshly made mayonnaise because the recipe contains uncooked eggs, which are considered a health risk to unborn babies.

Katy, 25, has further fuelled the rumours by posting several cryptic messages on her twitter page.

In a posting on New Year’s Day, she said: “It’s noon on Jan 1st here in the future, let me tell you 2010 is BUMPIN!”

She then wrote to Russell: “I heard ur prego-ed.”

She then messaged gossip blogger Perez Hilton, saying: “Boy do I have storrrrries!”

Russell Brand and Katy Perry are set to marry within months.

The couple – who have been dating since September and got engaged over New Year – have shocked friends by revealing their wedding plans are already well underway and have asked pals to keep dates free for the nuptials.

Russell, 34, has reportedly already asked his manager, Nik Linnen, to be his best man and told him to start preparing a speech.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “Russell caught everyone off guard with the engagement. They’ve decided they won’t be messing about and have already made plans for the big day.”

Katy’s strictly religious father Keith Hudson has also given former his blessing to the couple’s wedding plans, saying he is “happy” with the news.

Further details of Russell’s meticulously planned romantic proposal on New Year’s Eve in the Indian city of Jaipur – also known as the Pink City – have also been revealed.

First the comedian prepared by taking Katy, 25, to one of the city’s ancient forts, where he bought her a £600 traditional Indian dress to wear, before they headed back to the luxurious Taj Rambagh palace hotel, where he had further surprises in store.

As source at the hotel explained: “He had organised a special dining experience. We set a table in a garden with candles everywhere. They arrived in a horse and carriage with a glass of champagne and we served them dinner.

“At midnight they enjoyed fireworks while sitting on an elephant, which Mr. Brand specially requested. Then they were taken to the Mughal Garden – which was decorated by flowers and candlelight.

“Mr. Brand had given his butler the diamond ring to hide among the flowers. Miss Perry found it, he proposed, and she immediately said ‘Yes’.

“After that they requested 45 minutes’ privacy. They looked like they were beautifully in love.”

The couple were in India for a Christmas holiday, a present from Russell to Katy, and they have since moved on to Thailand to celebrate their engagement.

Russell Brand and Katy Perry have again been spotted getting amorous – this time, at a party yesterday afternoon.

The photogenic pair – Russell in his trademark black, with Katy in a cute tea dress – ducked out to the balcony for some quality time together.

The pair were reunited in LA on Friday, and showed their affection by locking lips in the car before driving away from the airport.

It was the the first time the pair, who have been dating for a month, have been seen kissing in public – but it certainly doesn’t look like it’ll be the last.

The couple have so far failed to give off any signs of their happiness, looking rather morose in all their recent pics.

Russell and Katy have been dating since spending a romantic holiday in Thailand together last month.

They went public just a few weeks ago, after news of their holiday made headlines around the world.

And no sooner had they got together than funnyman Brand was professing his love for his pop star girlfriend.

In the few weeks they’ve been together, the couple have been pictured holding hands and enjoying romantic trips together.

The latest of which saw them travel to Paris for Fashion Week, taking in Jim Morrison’s final resting place as part of the trip.

But, will the I Kissed A Girl singer be able to keep notorious womaniser Russell satisfied and under control?

Fellow Brit Georgina Baillie told Life & Style: “Everyone knows you don’t date Russell Brand seriously.”

They were an item after Brand got his hands on Perry after the VMA Awards, and they’ve been looking loved-up ever since. Baillie said, “Russell likes the idea of having a serious relationship, but when you’ve got all these different flavors of ice cream offered to you on a plate, you’re not going to stick with vanilla, are you? His romances rarely last beyond 24 hours, but it seems Russell Brand’s womanising ways have finally been tamed by one Miss Katy Perry.

The smitten comedian followed the brunette singer to Paris, where she has been attending the city’s fashion week.

They arrived together at a party hosted by Fendi last night, with the I Kissed A Girl star turning heads in a bright blue mini-dress and suspenders.

His decision to chase after the 24-year-old comes just a day after he confessed: ‘I think I’m in love.’

And today he tweeted: ‘I’m in “Gay Paris”- I swear as an Englishman that by the time I leave tomorrow it’ll be known as “Hetero Paris”. Or at least “Bi Paris”. X’

While both have been seen enjoying the company of other people this week, the reconnection last night suggests the relationship may well be getting serious.

The pair are believed to have hooked up earlier this month after weeks of phone flirting.

Russell then sent Katy a poem he had written – in response she sent him a photo of her cleavage sporting the word poem.

A delighted Russell then invited Katy to join him in Thailand.

While Katy declined to name who she was spending her holiday with, she hinted at a ’secret’ on her Twitter micro-blogging page.

She wrote: ‘After a week in magical Thailand I’m ready to face the real world again. Been schooled on Morrissey, Oscar Wilde & Peter Sellers… inspired.’

Russell is well known for his love of the three men and has even named his cat after Morrissey.

Katy has already confessed that she’s a big fan of the star.

During an interview with Scott Mills on Radio 1 last year, Katy recalled their first meeting and said: ‘I met Russell Brand who I’m in love with.

‘I love him. He’s so great. He’s got the worst sense of humour in the best sense of the way.’

The MTV Video Music Awards host was spotted making out with Perry at Lady Gaga’s after-party at Avenue — after joking onstage that he had the hots for her.

The voracious womanizer was seen admiring Perry’s cleavage before kissing her as they sat on a banquette. An onlooker at the Meatpacking District hot spot told Page Six, “They were sitting very close together, flirting and whispering to each other with their faces very close. Then Russell leaned in for a long kiss. It didn’t look like this was the first time. He was looking extremely pleased with himself.”

Brand has made no secret of his passion for Perry. Onstage, he joked about her tight pants and mentioned that the two were staying at the same hotel. Later, backstage, he said, “I think I might have a bit of a thing for Katy Perry.”

It was busy weekend for Perry: On Friday, a spy also caught the “I Kissed a Girl” singer locking lips with John Mayer at Gold Bar.

Meanwhile, upstairs at Avenue, Lady Gaga celebrated her award for Best New Artist by spraying her entourage — including her parents — with champagne and by dancing to her album on a leather sofa.

Over at 1Oak, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, Jessica Alba, Diddy, Jude Law, Gerard Butler and Mickey Rourke were among those who helped Jay-Z celebrate the release of his new album, “The Blueprint 3.”

Jay later showed up at Kush Lounge to join his VMA co-performer Alicia Keys at the party she threw for boyfriend Swizz Beatz. The party was made momentarily uncomfortable for Keys when Beatz’s ex-wife, R&B singer Mashonda, showed up, although she left after half an hour.
