The white embossed cards said: “Meet you in Delhi in October. Dates to follow. Please allow seven days for this event.”

The pair – who got engaged at the Taj Rambagh Palace hotel in Jaipur on New Year’s Eve last year and were blessed in a spiritual ceremony in the country days later – are reportedly planning a Hollywood-meets-Bollywood theme and have enlisted celebrity wedding planner Mindy Weiss to arrange their big day.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Expect the most vibrant wedding of the year. It will be a mix of traditional Hollywood glamour with Katy’s hair and dress, plus Indian touches like henna art on her hands and feet, an Indian tiara and hair brooches.

“About 75 to 100 guests will be staying at a resort in India and the ceremony is going to be held at an ashram.”

And guests at the glitzy bash will include comedian David Walliams, singers Morrissey and Rihanna, rocker Noel Gallagher and presenter Jonathan Ross.

Russell Brand has made a career out of being outrageous and after dating the British actor for nine months, it appears his girlfriend is beginning to show his influence.

Previously a fan of girly prom dresses, Katy Perry now favors ever more kinky skintight PVC and she and Russell, set to wed later this year, have a permanent reminder of their love – matching tattoos.

Singer Katy revealed her Sanskrit inking as she performed at the launch of the Volkswagen 2011 Jetta yesterday.

It was in an identical position – the inside of her right arm – to Russell’s, which he showed off on the front cover of this month’s Rolling Stone.

Both their tattoos read Anuugacchati Pravaha, meaning Go With The Flow.

Katy already has a tattoo of a strawberry on her ankle, and one saying Jesus on her wrist.

She flashed her discreet new inking as she performed her song California Gurls on top of the car in Times Square as an audience of suited guests watched, she bounced all over the VW 2011 Jetta, which starts at $16,000.

Katy wore a skintight PVC green dress decorated with pink palm trees to perform her hit California Gurls.

She sensibly kicked off her pink high heels before climbing on the car.

While Russell may be influencing the I Kissed A Girl singer’s look, he hasn’t changed her views on life.

The 25-year-old, the daughter of two pastors, spoke out about her views on religion following claims she ‘dissed’ Lady Gaga after she recently tweeted about her new video for her single Alejandro.

The tweet read: ‘Using blasphemy as entertainment is as cheap as a comedian telling a fart joke.’

But Katy told a French radio station: ‘Lately, I’ve just began seeing some things that are kind of… not something I would do, I guess. Like, you know when Madonna was on the cross?

‘And, like, sometimes my boyfriend [Brand] will say things that are… ehhh. From where I come from, it’s hard for me to say that…’

She added: ‘[People say] I’m a very hypocritical person, “How do you say that and [sing] I Kissed A Girl?” Spirituality and sexuality are two separate things.

‘When you decide to put it into the same subject, it gets interesting for some people.’

Perry added that she is a big Gaga fan.

She said: ‘Everyone knows… I’ve said 100 times on my Twitter. I’m one of the biggest Lady Gaga and Madonna and Russell Brand fans.

‘Some people have different viewpoints.’

Katy also told this week’s OK Magazine that her music was meant to be funny.

‘You have to take my music with a touch of humor because that’s how it was created,’ she said. ‘I like to play with irony.’

And she admitted she had experienced some tough times before she made it as a pop star.

‘I was so broke I couldn’t even pay the rent at the end of the month. But I’m glad I was strong enough to hang in there.

‘I’m a very happy person day to day, I have bad days like everybody else but with everything that’s happening right now, I only have reasons to smile.

‘On stage I’m also very smiley and a bit crazy, but that’s because I need to freely express myself.’

It’s good to see that even celebrities aren’t immune from the tenacity of a jobsworth parking attendant.

And it was quite ingenious of Katy Perry to use the situation as an opportunity to show off her expensive new piece of bling.

The pop star found herself slapped with a fine after illegally parking her shiny black Audi on the street as she and fiance Russell Brand stopped for coffee in Los Angeles yesterday.

And as she whipped off the parking ticket from under her windscreen wiper, she couldn’t resist flashing her Cartier engagement ring for all the world to see.

The morning after their night out at a charity gala at the Beverly Hills Hilton on Saturday, Katy, 25, and Russell, 34, went for a caffeine fix at the Intelligentsia Cafe in the trendy Silver Lake district of the city yesterday.

And despite being one of the most talked-about couples at the moment, the pair didn’t abuse their celebrity status and queued for a table just like everyone else.

After staying for coffee, they bought some pastries to take away and went for a stroll around the neighbourhood, before returning to Katy’s car and the ominuous ticket.

But it will probably take more than a parking fine to dampen this the good mood of this couple, who have had loved-up smiles on their faces since they announced their engagement just after the New Year.

Katy showed off her betrothed to the Hollywood jet-set on Saturday night at the The Art of Elysium’s 3rd Annual Black Tie Charity Gala ‘Heaven’ where, at one stage, she sat on his lap for the cameras.

And it was revealed today that love was brewing in the air between them when they first met in 2008 on the set of his latest film Get Him To The Greek.

The movie, which is due for release this June, is the sequel to Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and sees Russell reprise his role as British rock star Aldous Snow.

Katy filmed a cameo scene as herself for the film in which she had to kiss Russell – who tricked her into thinking the cameras were rolling.

In September 2008, a year before they started dating, Russell interviewed Katy on his former Talksport show, which he presented with former Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher.

And he admitted to her that when they filmed their kissing scene, he told her a hidden camera crew were filming it when they weren’t.

But Katy, who was still dating Gym Class Heroes frontman Travis McCoy at the time, confessed in a later interview that kissing her future fiance left her feeling very happy.

She said: ‘My scene called for me to make out with him. And on the way down the stairs after the scene, I was hopping like a bunny. I hop like a bunny when I’m happy – I get a bit childlike.’
