The 26-year-old actress was reported to be “smitten” with the actor who is 24 years her senior earlier this week but she claims there is no romance between them and they have merely bonded over their charity work in Haiti.

A spokesperson for the ‘Lost In Translation’ star said: “Scarlett and Sean are not dating – they have been friends for years. Nothing more, nothing less.

“They have been talking over the last few months regarding Haiti Relief and Scarlett’s upcoming trip to Haiti as Oxfam’s Global Ambassador.”

Rumours of a romance follow Scarlett’s split from her husband Ryan Reynolds in December after two years of marriage while Sean’s marriage to actress Robin Wright – mother of his two children Dylan, 19, and Hopper, 17 – ended in July after 14 years.

Sean is currently spending most of his free time in Haiti where he has been undertaking charity work since it was affected by two earthquakes in January 2010.

Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds are breaking up. “After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we’ve decided to end our marriage,” the two entertainers said Tuesday through their publicist, Meredith O’Sullivan.

“We entered our relationship with love, and it’s with love and kindness we leave it. While privacy isn’t expected, it’s certainly appreciated,” they said.

The 26-year-old actress and 34-year-old actor were engaged in May 2008 and married that September. The couple kept their courtship and nuptials private, releasing few details about their wedding and rarely appearing in public together.

Johansson’s recent credits include “Iron Man 2″ and “He’s Just Not That Into You.”

Reynolds appeared opposite Sandra Bullock in “The Proposal” and stars in “Green Lantern,” set for release next year.

The brunette actress – who recently split from her husband Jesse James over claims he had cheated on her several times – locked lips with the blonde beauty whilst accepting the Generation Award at the MTV Movie Awards in Universal City, California yesterday, before admitting she was desperate for her life to return to normal.

After grabbing Scarlett, 25, in a passionate embrace, Sandra quipped to the crowd: “Now that we have done that, can we please go back to normal – because therapy is really expensive. Go back to making fun of me, I don’t care, it’s time to get back to normal.”

The 45-year-old actress went in for the smooch after flirting with Scarlett – who is married to Sandra’s ‘The Proposal’ love interest Ryan Reynolds – on stage.

She explained: “Well, since Ryan was working, I wanted to be here in his place when you guys won Best Kiss.”

Sandra replied: “That’s so nice. But we didn’t win.”

Scarlett responded: “Right… well… I thought you should have won… it was a great kiss.”

The Hollywood beauties then shuffled towards each other, with Sandra cupping Scarlett’s face as she went in for the smooch – much to the amusement of the star-studded audience.

This was not the first time Sandra – who is raising adopted four-month-old son Louis alone following her separation from the motorcycle enthusiast – spoke out about her private life this weekend.

Sandra looked flawless at the Spike TV’s annual Guys Choice Awards event in Culver City, California on Saturday, where she took to the stage to be presented the Troops Choice Award for Entertainer of The Year.

Although thrilled to accept the award, Sandra was uncertain whether she was honored with the prize because for her entertaining personality, or her personal problems.

She quipped: “Let’s be honest here, just for a moment. We’re all going to be honest, right?

“Did I win this because of the spectacular I.E.D. explosion that became my personal life?”

The Spike TV awards will be aired on June 20.

Gwyneth Paltrow has laughed off “lame” rumours she fell out with Scarlett Johansson on the set of IRON MAN 2 – insisting she “adores” the young actress.

Paltrow reprises her role as Pepper Potts in the superhero sequel opposite Robert Downey, Jr. and Johansson joins the cast as the villainous Black Widow.

Rumors of a rift between the pair have been rife ever since they filmed the movie, but Paltrow is adamant she gets on well with her 25-year-old co-star – and especially enjoys her “dirty sense of humor”.

She tells People.com, “People tell me, ‘Oh you had a fight.’ They’re pitting you against each other and I just think, ‘Why do we need to make a problem between women?’ I think that’s the part that’s lame.

“I adore Scarlett. I loved having her on set. She is really funny. She swears a lot. She has a dirty sense of humour. She loves to cook. She’s like a girl after my own heart.”

The aging rocker and sultry actress were spotted at an after-hours spot in NoHo a week ago Wednesday, the Box on Thursday, and the Boom Boom Room on Sunday until 3 a.m.

On Tuesday of this week, after the curtain of “A View From the Bridge,” Johansson was seen playing pingpong with Rose at SPiN. “They were laughing the whole time,” says a spy. “They looked like they were having fun.”

The Guns N’ Roses frontman later turned up solo at celebrity haunt Avenue. A different source said, “He swaggered in wearing jeans and an unbuttoned T-shirt, showing off his chest, and wearing lots of bracelets and rings. He had a pingpong paddle in his hand . . . He was in a good mood drinking vodka . . . He even danced on the table for a while.” Johansson’s new husband, Ryan Reynolds, is in New Orleans filming “Green Lantern.”

Scarlett Johansson, in town rehearsing for her Broadway debut in “A View From the Bridge,” celebrated her 25th birthday Saturday at club Griffin on Gansevoort Street.
