The 18-year-old actress – who was recently pictured holding hands and kissing the ‘Baby’ hitmaker – did not meet the Canadian heartthrob until his management got in touch to ask to meet.

Discussing how long she knew Justin, Selena said: “Uh, almost, like, two years now. His manager called my mom, who’s my manager.”

Although neither has yet officially confirmed they are dating each other, Selena “blushed” when asked further about their relationship and said it was “nice” to have him around.

She told talk show host David Letterman: “I’m blushing! He’s been in my life for so long and it’s just nice to have someone that understands what you’re going through.”

Selena recently confessed she was “hurt” by Justin’s fans who criticised her via social networking site twitter, but has her fans and family who keep her strong.

She said: “It’s hard. It hurts, it really does. I don’t feel like I’m doing anything wrong. I’ve been best friends with him for a very long time. It does hurt my feelings a lot but I try not to focus on it. I have a strong family and great fans.”

The 18-year-old star – who has previously been pictured holding hands with the ‘Baby’ hitmaker – has revealed she has deep feelings for Justin but confesses she doesn’t understand the level of interest in their relationship.

She told Access Hollywood: “I love him. He’s been in my life a very long time. He’s my friend.

“I think it’s awesome people are interested – I don’t understand why.”

She also confessed she would not be spending time with Justin on Valentine’s Day today because she was busy working.
She said: “I’m actually going to be working all day, so my Valentine will be my fans.”

The ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ actress – who has been linked to Nick Jonas and Taylor Lautner in the past – previously claimed she thought of Justin as a “brother” and wouldn’t be able to date him.

She said: “Oh brother! He’s little. No, he’s like my little brother. It’s weird to me.”

However, Canadian-born Justin has hinted he may be dating someone special, although didn’t mention Selena by name.

He said: “I’m dating. I date a lot of different people. I’m 16, so I just have fun.”

Justin Bieber’s mom, Pattie Mallette, jetted to St. Lucia after the 16-year-old was photographed cuddling up to 18-year-old Selena Gomez on a yacht.

The teen stars, who were holidaying with friends, were also seen kissing and cuddling around a private resort on the northern part of the island together.

But their cover was blown when a member of their party posted a picture on Twitter.

A source told us, “Justin and Selena arrived on a private jet together from Atlanta with friends and his manager. They then took a helicopter together to the resort, where they stayed in two villas and celebrated New Year’s Eve. They were determined to stay unseen, but someone posted a view of the resort on Twitter. Selena left on Jan. 2, leaving Justin alone with his bodyguard, in time for his mom to arrive.”

A rep for Justin said the story was “false,” adding, “No picture was ever posted on Twitter. Pattie Mallette is on a scheduled vacation with her son. All is well in paradise.”

The Canadian teen heartthrob – who has repeatedly denied he is dating the Disney star – was spotted enjoying a romantic walk with Selena in Miami.

When the pair were realized they had been seen, the ‘Baby’ hitmaker reportedly tried to walk away from the 18-year-old singer-and-actress, who started nervously played with her hair.

An onlooker said: “They seemed to know they had been caught out and were quick to run off.”

The rumored couple were then spotted hanging out on Justin’s tour bus and he was pictured gently resting his hand on her back.

Meanwhile, the 16-year-old pop sensation was forced to stop a concert last week after a fight broke out over a sweaty towel he had thrown to the crowd.

The audience of mostly teenage girls were watching Justin in Pittsburgh but became rowdy during his hit ‘Baby’ after the towel was caught by one fan, who soon discovered she faced stiff competition to keep the smelly memento.

The situation got so bad Justin had to stop his track and address his fans.

He told them: “You can’t fight over it, don’t fight over it. Someone’s gonna get hurt. Let it go, let it go, let it go!”
Justin then took the matter into his own hands, pointing at one of the girls who had been wrestling for the towel, saying “Give it to her.”

He then attempted to restart ‘Baby’, but had to stop singing again because he was laughing so hard.

Starting the track for a third time, Justin let the crowd help him through the first verse.
