Yes, that WAS tennis great Serena Williams shaking her tail feather last night during an impromptu performance by on-again/off-again flame Common at the premiere party for AMC’s new original drama “Hell on Wheels.” The rapper, who also co-stars in “Hell on Wheels,” unexpectedly took the stage during the premiere after-party last night at Union Station’s Harvey House in LA to sing three songs, including a “Hell on Wheels”-inspired rap in which he gave shout-outs to AMC, producers, and his cast mates. Other stars spotted at the premiere last night included his “Hell On Wheels” co-stars Anson Mount, Colm Meaney and Dominique McElligott, Mad Men’s Christopher Stanley, “The Killing’s” Joel Kinnaman, and actress Neve Campbell. “Hell on Wheels” premieres November 6 at 10pm on AMC.

Tennis ace Serena Williams had a health scare this week after being rushed to hospital with a blood clot on her lungs.

On Monday, the 29-year-old was forced to seek emergency treatment at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles for haematoma – a pooling of blood caused by a hemorrhage.

Only the night before she attended the Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party.

Her publicist Nicole Chabot released the following statement to People magazine:

‘Monday Serena Williams underwent emergency treatment at Cedars for a hematoma she suffered as a result of treatment for a more critical situation.

‘Last week, Serena suffered from a pulmonary embolism [a blood clot in the lungs] which was discovered upon her return to L.A.

‘She had been in New York for doctor appointments for the ongoing issues with her foot.

‘Doctors are continuing to monitor her situation closely to avoid additional complications.’

The former world number one has been forced to take time away from playing tennis after undergoing surgery for a foot injury in July when she cut her foot on broken glass at Wimbledon.

However, she was aiming to return to the court after the extended break in time for the French Open in May.

She had been spotted in the medical center several times over the past week but her condition took a dramatic turn on Monday.

She is currently ranked at number 12 in the world and has won 37 WTA titles.

Doctors are continuing to monitor her condition.

Sources say she’s asked her agents to arrange an introduction to Drake, who at 23 is five years younger.

One source said, “They’re hoping to fix up a meeting with Serena when he plays Radio City later this month.”

Williams, who split with actor/rapper Common in May, might be just what Drake wants. “I love older women . . . I love experience and maturity and the conversation,” he told a radio station this week. “I like to learn from an individual, like, when we converse, I like to really be able to soak it all in, the knowledge, the wisdom, all that.” Williams’ rep didn’t get back to the press.

Tennis champ Serena Williams has been forced to bow out of the U.S. Open after she failed to recover from foot surgery in time for the competition.

The world number one underwent an operation for cuts on her right foot after she was slashed by broken glass in a restaurant in July.

But the sports ace has been left devastated after having to withdraw from the Open, which kicks off on August 30, 2010.

In a statement, she says, “It is with much frustration and deep sadness that I am having to pull out of the U.S. Open.”

The injury did bring one positive outcome – she reportedly grew closer to rapper ex-boyfriend Common while in hospital. The pair split up in April after two years.

Tennis ace Serena Williams dominates on the court, but it seems she’s not quite so lucky in the game of love.

The 29-year-old has split from her rap star boyfriend Common, real name Lonnie Rashid Lynn, it is claimed.

The couple have been quietly dating since 2008 but a source tells America’s In Touch Weekly: ‘They just grew apart.’

If Serena was upset by the break-up, she certainly didn’t let it show as she as she defeated Swiss player Stefanie Voegele in the first round of the French Open on Monday.

It comes less than two weeks after Common, 38, told chat show host Ellen DeGeneres he was planning to marry the Wimbledon champion.

When asked about his future with Serena, he said: ‘I definitely want to get married. I would love to get married and have kids.’

Common, who has carved out a successful acting career with roles in Smokin’ Aces, American Gangster and Date Night, also opened up about how he would become ‘emotionally involved’ while watching the sports star on the court.

He said: ‘I sit there, and I’m just tense… and people try and talk to me, and I tell them to be quiet. I was sitting next to Richard Branson and I didn’t pay attention. I don’t care who is there. I’m focused on this tennis match.’

Prior to her relationship with the entertainer, Serena dated actor Jackie Long and was also linked to film maker Brett Ratner.

Common has a daughter, Omoye, 13, from a previous relationship.

A spokesman for Serena had no comment about the break-up claims when contacted by Mail Online today.

Could there be off-court drama for Serena Williams?

According to In Touch magazine, Williams and rapper/actor Common have split after two years of courtship.

The celeb weekly quotes a source saying the two “just grew apart.” They appeared together at the April premiere of the romantic comedy “Date Night” in New York, but Common attended the May 4 premiere of his new movie, “Just Wright,” with his mother.

A rep for Williams had no comment, and reps for Common didn’t get back to the media.

Rapper/actor Common is deadly serious about his romance with tennis ace Serena Williams – don’t try and talk to him when his girlfriend is on the court.

The hip-hop star has been dating the sportswoman for two years and hopes to marry her, and he knows this relationship is different because he’s so “emotionally involved” in Williams’ game.

He explains, “I sit there and I’m just tense and people try and talk to me and I tell them to be quiet. I was sitting next to Richard Branson and I didn’t pay attention. I don’t care who is there I’m focused on this tennis match.”

Asked if there are wedding bells in his future during an appearance on Thursday’s Ellen show Common says, “I definitely want to get married. I would love to get married and have kids.”

Tough-as-nails tennis champion Serena Williams is spending her off-court time learning to become — a nail technician.

She wrote on her Global Grind blog: “No one likes getting their nails done more than I do . . . I go every four days to get a manicure and every seven days for a pedicure. So, I had a brilliant idea to get certified to be a nail tech.”

Williams, winner of 12 grand slam singles titles, has enrolled at the Palm Beach Nail School to become a certified nail tech and will have to fork over $55 every two years to renew her license — which shouldn’t be much sweat for a player who has made more than $30 million in tournament prizes.

Serena added, “Don’t be surprised if you hear about a part-time job I’ve picked up at a local nail salon.”

There’s a new hillarious campaign from Tampax featuring tennis champion Serena Williams. The advertisements show Mother Nature and her “monthly gift” attempting to throw Serena off her game – on and off the tennis court.

You’ll start to see the new ads in print in October 2009:
