Shawn King’s May 28 overdose may have been intentional, according to a police report obtained today by E! News.

The Provo Police Department crime report deemed the overmedication by Larry King’s wife an “attempted suicide.”

Police found multiple empty pill bottles on her bed, in her purse and in her bathroom, according to the report. The containers had held Compro, Prometrium, Clonaxepam, Ambien, Klonopin, Subutex, Cymbalta and Lyrica.

Some of the bottles had a “prescription of 30, others of 60, all of which were empty and which had been filled within 10 days,” read the report.

Police also found what they believed to be a suicide note left by Shawn.

“At this time, it is unknown whose writing this letter was in, however wording on the letter led me to believe that [King] had intentionally taken the quantity of pills,” read the report.

The report also states that the note indicated that she “was leaving, or that she might hurt herself” and that she wanted to be buried in Utah.

Previously, Shawn’s father, Karl Engemann, told authorities that she had been prescribed medication for anxiety and depression and may have lost track of her dosages, leading to an accidental overdose.

Shawn’s rep has not commented on the latest police report but said yesterday she was currently recovering from the ordeal.

No further action has been taken by police.

Larry King and his wife, Shawn Southwick, were aware of each other’s affairs, according to Larry’s former wife Julia Alexander King.

“Larry told me they both knew that each of them had others in their lives,” Julia, his Spouse No. 6 from 1989 to ’92, said.

“I never asked him and he never told me who his ‘other’ was, but he knew Shawn was having an affair with the baseball coach. She practically flaunted it.” While Larry was allegedly cheating with Shawn’s younger sister, Shannon Engemann, Shawn was said to be trysting with their sons’ baseball coach, Hector Penate.

“Larry doesn’t have a mean bone in his body,” said Julia, who keeps in touch with her ex. “He is a wonderful man in every area of his life except marriage. He just doesn’t have a moral compass when it comes to women.”

A former Little League coach to the sons of Larry King and estranged wife Shawn Southwick claims he had an affair with Southwick — but says King didn’t care because he was carrying on with Southwick’s sister, Shannon Engemann.

“I still think to this day that Larry is in love with Shawn’s sister,” Hector Penate, 31, told In Touch magazine out today.

Penate says he started sleeping with 50-year-old Southwick 2½ weeks after they met in 2007, when Penate was the baseball coach for the couple’s sons, Chance, 11, and Cannon, 9.

“We had sex in Larry’s bed — a lot,” Penate said. “I had sex with Shawn while Larry was on TV. Our sex life was real good.”

Penate also said Southwick wanted to have a baby with him: “She was trying to fertilize her eggs to do that.”

Southwick allegedly lavished Penate with gifts, including a BMW 7 Series, and paid his rent. What’s more, says Penate, Southwick had King co-sign the lease for Penate’s Studio City, Calif., apartment. “She controlled him,” Penate tells the magazine. “He just sat there and signed it.”

Penate also claims King didn’t mind Penate’s antics since he was allegedly cheating on Southwick with her sister, Engemann, 45. King hinted to Penate about his attraction to Engemann. “He told me one time, ‘Have you ever seen Shannon?’ After I said that I had never met her, he said, ‘Oh, oh — she’s really gorgeous!’ ”

Southwick has previously denied having affair with Penate, and Engemann has denied to The Post that she had an affair with King, calling the accusation “ludicrous.”

Last week, King and Southwick were heading for divorce after nearly 13 years of marriage, but it’s now on hold. “It was decided that there will be no divorce activity for two weeks as several issues need to be discussed and resolved,” King’s lawyer, Dennis Wasser, said in a statement Monday.

A rep for King had no comment on the In Touch story.

Now that Larry King’s wife, Shawn, has checked into rehab, friends are hoping she’ll start eating again.

“She looked like a walking skeleton at the ‘Indiana Jones’ screening at Paramount,” said one observer. “She’s emaciated.”
Crueler sources likened her to a “lollipop” with a “stick body.”

Last week, Shawn Southwick-King sought medical assistance for an addiction to painkillers. King’s spokesman denied reports she suffers from depression or anxiety. But a confidante told us: “She’s really unhappy. Larry is very controlling. He barks at her in public. She always keeps a smile plastered on her face — but she is really unhappy.”

The couple became tabloid fodder in February 2007 after a very public screaming fight at Nate’n Al’s in Beverly Hills, during which Shawn ran out and down the street, with King yelling as he ran after her.

King’s spokesman, Howard Rubenstein, told us: “He only has good feelings about her. He’s deeply concerned about her well-being. He has enormous affection for her. He denies berating her.

“She is not anorexic. Nor has she been diagnosed as depressed. She has taken medications because of her migraine headaches that she’s had since she was a young girl. She developed a dependency on painkillers as a result of being prescribed medication for the migraines.”

The 5-foot-10 beauty’s career as a singer and TV host was curtailed after the birth of the couple’s boys, Chase and Cannon. In addition, being married to a man of King’s reknown can be a full-time job.

The CNN talk host, who is 74, has been married seven times to six women. On the couple’s 10th anniversary last September, Southwick-King, 48, boasted that she “is the only [wife] to have lasted into the two digits.”
