Solange Knowles has fired back at police reports surrounding a weekend altercation with law officials in Florida, insisting they have made “false statements” to the media.

The singer took to Twitter.com to vent her fury after an officer reportedly pulled a switchblade on her outside a club in Miami Beach on Saturday night.

The angry star wrote, “I have done Nothing illegal, against the law, or anything of the sort,” and added, “I am simply tired of police using arrogance, ego and authority as an offense… I’m only tweeting this to raise awareness. I could have left quietly, but I am sick & tired of this scenario being played over & over again.
“It is time to do something about it. I am a mother raising a young black child in America. I’m going to die trying!”

Miami Beach police detective Juan Sanchez responded to E! News requests for a comment on Monday, explaining Knowles “became abusive” when she was refused entrance to a club. He insisted, “There was no mention of a gun.”

Later on Monday, Knowles picked up the story, telling E! News, “Never once during the incident did I even raise my voice. I feel very strongly about standing up for myself when something is wrong, and am very disappointed in the way that the Miami Police Department has handled this case.”

A rep for Knowles has filled out the story, explaining the star and two friends were told they could not enter a club with an inflatable banana they had with them.

The rep says, “They decided to go across the street to deflate the balloon, where they encountered two police officers who had casual, light-hearted conversation with them. One officer pulled out a switchblade and threatened to pop the balloon. They felt it was inappropriate, but the turning point happened when he then took out the switchblade a second time with the blade open and said to them, ‘I don’t find the humor in this, anymore.’ The blade was less than a couple of feet away from Solange and her friends.

“Solange then asked the officer what was it that they did wrong, and he forcefully responded again to move. When a taxi pulled up, they got in and headed home. Solange made a series of calls to report the incident and was told to be prepared to be arrested when she came in to report the incident if her story was false. Solange simply wanted to report that the officer pulled out a weapon, when she had done nothing illegal, disruptive or belligerent.

“Solange is actively filing a report and has not yet decided on further legal action.”

Singer Solange Knowles is following her superstar sister Beyonce into the world of fashion – she’s in talks to take on a consultancy role with a top design firm.

The star, who has previously worked as a spokesmodel for Beyonce and their mother Tina’s Dereon collection, admits she’s been hesitant in the past to turn her attention to the fashion industry because she doesn’t feel she’s qualified.

She says, “It’s a funny thing because initially I got asked that question (to design a line of clothing) and I was absolutely that person who frowned upon random artists and models and musicians for crossing over into that design process and I always said, I feel like there are so many talented people who’ve studied this and know the skill of the craft of designing because it is an art, that I would be reluctant to call myself a designer.”

But Knowles has had a change of heart after being approached to share her style secrets and advice with designers at one of her favorite labels.

She reveals, “A line that I really respect and was already a fan of reached out and had a great idea of us collaborating on maybe a particular collection and me just sharing ideas and prints (in a consultancy role) and being involved in that way I would absolutely love. It’s still in the early stages so I can’t really reveal (much) but hopefully something will develop.”

Pop starlet Beyoncé was showing some sisterly love to her younger sibling, Solange Knowles, Friday night.

Mrs. Jay-Z shocked bowlers and partygoers when she showed up casually dressed to Brooklyn Bowl in Williamsburg, where Solange was deejaying.

“Beyoncé was having a great time showing off her dance moves” and hanging with her sister in the deejay booth “until the early morning hours,” an onlooker said.

The sisters stuck with their musical talents and skipped the venue’s chic bowling lanes.

R&B singer Solange Knowles has scrapped plans to perform at this year’s South By Southwest (SXSW) Festival in Texas due to her son’s busy school schedule.

The I Decided star, 23, has cancelled her showcase gigs at the last minute after struggling to fit her duties as a mother to five-year-old Daniel Julez around her work commitments.

Apologising to fans on her Twitter.com page, she writes, “Sorry to ALL that are asking me about my SXSW gigs being cancelled. I’m a mommy first, and Julez has school business I couldn’t get out of!! There’s always next year…????”

The annual music industry festival kicked off on Wednesday night with performances from Spoon, Broken Bells, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings.

The event runs until Sunday.

Sisters Beyonce and Solange Knowles promoted designer Samantha Thavasa’s Disney collection in Japan today (August 10th).

I have to say, both sisters look really pretty. Not sure about those shoes Solange is wearing though!

The long-suffering sister of singer Beyonce has long resented the comparisons to the famous diva.

And once playfully said she will ‘go crazy like Britney’ if people keep comparing her to her sister.

However, it seems that she has indeed taken some inspiration from Ms Spears, as the singer showed off her new shorn hairstyle as she wandered round Los Angeles yesterday.

The 23-year-old younger sibling of R’n'B superstar Beyonce has completely shaved off her locks for the low-maintenance look.

She wrote on her Twitter page that she was going through a ‘i wanna cut all my Hair off & have a fade (cropped haircut) phase’.
But ironically in the past she has joked that the constant comparisons to her superstar sibling might tip her over the edge and send her into a Britney-style meltdown.

She said: ‘I get asked about Beyonce all the time but I try and make fun of it.

‘Sometimes I say she’s not my sister. Other times I say I’ve stuffed her in my suitcase and sent it to Dubai.

‘I have to have fun with it or I’ll turn into Britney – shave my head and go totally crazy.’

But whatever the reason, she unveiled the edgy new look as she ran errands in LA with her son Juelz, 4.

However, it seems she not too keen to debut the look on the red carpet. As later on she attended a Dita Von Teese performance at an LA nightspot, and she popped her brunette wig on for a more glamorous look.

Solange is seen as the more adventurous sister in comparison to pop monolith Beyoncé.

Behind the scenes, she has written hit songs for Destiny’s Child as well as some of her big sister’s biggest hits.

She finally broke into the music scene as a solo artist with Solo Star, an up-tempo R&B record bolstered by the Neptunes, Timbaland and a host of other super-producers.

Solange – who has released her debut single I Decided last year has received mixed reviews for her self-titled debut album Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams in which is a mix of electro pop and retro soul.

But she has said Americans think she is ‘nutty’ because of her forthright attitude.

She told the Daily Star : ‘I get a lot of wrinkled noses because of how outspoken I am.

‘Probably not in the U.K. because women here tend to be pretty frank and have a dry sense of humour but back home they’re scared of me for some reason and think I’m a little nutty.’
