It’s not normally something a celebrity would want the world to know about.

Spencer Pratt spent Wednesday afternoon reportedly spending more than $7,000 at a seedy Los Angeles strip club.

But the unrepentant reality star turned movie producer assures the world that it was all work for his new movie.

Captured leaving the 4 Play Gentleman’s Club, Pratt proclaimed that he was actually taking a very, um, hands-on approach to his casting his new movie, Tower 69: Beach Patrol Featuring 3D Boobs.

Rather than just looking at strippers, the heavily-bearded Pratt, 26, claims he was conducting auditions at the ‘gentleman’s club.’

‘I’m here on business,’ Pratt told RadarOnline.com.

‘I’m here doing talent scouting with some super actresses for our hit film,’ he added. ‘Where else better to cast 3D boobs than at an incredible gentleman’s club?

The website claimed Spencer spent $7,515 in the three afternoon hours that he spent with his pals at the location, showing off a healthy wad of $100 bills inside.

The hard-working Pratt even took issue with the term strip club. ‘I don’t even know what that is,’ he said. ‘This is movie stuff.’

Pratt said there were definite advantages for the in-person trip – first handing viewing and unfettered access.

‘You have some of the best actresses in Los Angeles here,’ he claimed. ‘And we didn’t have to deal with any of their agents.’

As for his continued woes with estranged wife Heidi Montag, Spencer stated the obvious — she’s not a fan of the project.

‘I don’t think Heidi is to into the 3D boob project,’ said Pratt. ‘Heidi is into puppies and pop music’

Spencer Pratt extended his 15 minutes of fame Tuesday night ? by disguising himself as an old man and freaking out cast members of “The Hills.”

Pratt, 26, who was dropped from the MTV reality show last season after reportedly making a death threat against one of the producers, wasn’t invited to “The Hills” live finale at L.A.’s Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. But that didn’t stop him from showing up and unnerving Lauren Conrad, among others.

“For someone who was such an integral part of the show, he was not even allowed at the curb. The talent are really physically afraid of him,” says one insider who attended the finale. “Lauren Conrad had a Taser in her bag.” (A spokeswoman for Conrad declined to comment.)

When Gatecrasher contacted Pratt’s publicist to ask him about his appearance, he called us to say that he had dressed up as a “crazy old man” ? in a gray wig and aviator sunglasses ? because “when your life is edited into one-minute segments” that appear in dozens of episodes of an MTV reality show, “that’s what you look like in the end.”

Pratt says he wasn’t invited to “The Hills” finale because Conrad “was in charge of the guest list, and when LC does the VIP list, you better hope you’ve been kissing her boo-tay.”

He also dismisses speculation that he was under the influence of some controlled substance. “My high is how much people hate me,” says Pratt, who also dismisses the allegation that he ratcheted up the anxiety levels of cast members.

“That’s people who are no longer relevant trying to put out negative false accusations,” he explains.

Pratt’s wingman for the evening was Emilio Masella, the ex-boyfriend of “Jersey Shore” cast member Nicole (Snooki) Pilozzi, and while the two men entertained crowds on the West Coast, the cast of MTV’s newest reality hit partied here at an unlikely nightspot: The Eldridge.

In December, Eldridge owner Matt Levine publicly declared that the “Jersey Shore” cast was not welcome at his lower East Side haunt, but that’s where they gathered to celebrate a friend’s birthday. When Gatecrasher reminded Levine of his earlier vow, the club owner, who was on the premises Tuesday night, said the party was “private” and in such cases, he is “generally unaware of guest lists.”

Perhaps, but one reveler said it was fairly impossible to ignore Jenni (JWoWW) Farley and her fiance/manager, Tom Leppolis, “yelling at each other angrily.”

Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag won’t let anything get in the way of their quest for fame — not even reality.

They’ve been pushing their split by trying to sell a made-up story that Heidi may be cheating with Spencer’s close pal, Marine-turned-bodyguard Cougar Zank.

A source said, “Heidi and Spencer are trying to play out a fake reality show in the press and get paid along the way. They’ve been approaching magazines and Web sites to buy the fake story of Zank having an affair with Heidi. They’ve been asking for $100,000. But no one is interested as they don’t sell magazines.”

A rep for Pratt and Montag didn’t get back to the press.

Over-botoxed plastic surgery victim Heidi Montag is telling friends she’s finally ready to divorce Spencer Pratt after one year of marriage. A source said the “Hills” star “is freaking out.

Spencer is determined to control her, and she just can’t take any more. She says she wants out, but she is terrified because she has very few friends. And she has convinced herself she’s going to be a major movie star.”

Heidi’s life showed signs of spiraling out of control after she had 10 surgical procedures in one day, then called cops when her concerned mom, Darlene Egelhoff, showed up at her door.

She fired Pratt as her manager after accusing him of not being able to land her top movie roles. Montag’s rep confirms she’s moving out of their home, saying, “Heidi is looking to move out due to all the fake bad press that Spencer controls. She’s tired of it and is looking for a place and wants to focus on her acting career.” Pratt didn’t return e-mails to the press.

The Hills star Spencer Pratt has been ordered to take a six-week hiatus from the hit reality show and undergo anger management classes – after he allegedly lost his temper with a producer, according to a new report.

Rumors about the star’s imminent departure from the show hit the internet on Monday, amid claims Pratt will be taking time out of TV to work in the cyber security division at American Defense Enterprise.

However, it has now emerged that bosses on the popular MTV series told Pratt to leave the show for a period of six weeks, according to UsWeekly.com.

A source tells the publication, “All of that stuff about him leaving The Hills to fight cyber crime is not true. He is leaving The Hills for six weeks because he was asked to.

“He got so crazy that he screamed at (the producer, saying), ‘I should kill you for even asking me to do that!’”

Following a complaint from the producer, executives allegedly ordered Pratt to undergo an anger management program to ensure his future on the show, adds the insider.

Reality TV personalities Heidi and Spencer Pratt said Monday they want to branch out from MTV’s “The Hills” and star in their own reality show to give viewers a bigger peek into their lives.

In an interview to promote their new book, “How to be Famous: Our Guide to Looking the Part, Playing the Press, and Becoming a Tabloid Fixture,” the couple told The Associated Press they’re shopping the idea around to various networks.

They said that while “The Hills” – which doesn’t acknowledge its cast members’ fame – only focuses on a small part of their lives, their own show would reveal everything that happens to them. They also said they’d be even be willing to include live segments.

“You don’t get to see our everyday lives and what we do,” Heidi Pratt said.

But the Pratts also said they don’t plan to leave “The Hills” and hope to appear in both shows.

Last summer, the newlyweds also appeared on NBC’s “I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!” during a break from “The Hills.”

MTV did not immediately return telephone calls seeking comment Monday.

Depending on your point of view, Spencer Pratt is either the worst man to ever walk the face of the Earth or the most entertaining personality MTV has ever uncovered. But whether you love him or hate him, you’ve got to get used to him because it’s become rapidly clear that Spencer isn’t going anywhere!

In fact, with a new season of “The Hills” premiering tonight, a book out in November and no plans to leave the MTV series, we might just start seeing more of Spencer and Heidi Pratt than ever before. But he promises their brood won’t involve kids anytime soon! Well, at least he hopes…Check out the interview that Pop Wrap had with Spencer:

PW: This season on “The Hills” it seems like Heidi is baby crazy…
Spencer: See, Heidi’s mom had her when she was 19 years old, so she’s got this whole young mom theory that I just found out about. But I keep telling her, you can still be a young mom at 27 — chill out! She’s not having it though.

PW: So it sounds like we shouldn’t expect Speidi babies any time soon.
Spencer: I’m not even kidding, my wife — OK, I’m gonna get crass here — but we’re barely having sex because I’m scared that she’s gonna have a baby. That’s the level our marriage is on right now. I’m not even kidding — my wife has me debating cutting off my nuts.

PW: Do you think she’d trick you into having a baby by saying she was on birth control or something?
Spencer: She’s not the kind of person who would lie — she would just walk away and not answer the question. So yes, I’m very concerned. Our sex life has dramatically changed recently.
