Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise on location for “Jack & Jill” on October 20th in LA

She’s the little girl that could have everything, but Suri Cruise prefers to design her own clothes.
In a rare interview, mom Katie Holmes gives a glimpse into domestic bliss at her household with Tom Cruise, describing how she lets her 4-year-old daughter pick out and craft her own outfits.
“I grew up the youngest of five, so there were a lot of hand-me-downs that I would sort of change up,” Holmes, 31, tells this week’s issue of New York magazine.
“And Suri and I do that now with her clothes. Or rather, she does it. She says, ‘I want this sleeve cut,’ and it’s like, ‘Okay, we’ll cut it.’ She picks out all of her own clothes and has since she was one-and-a-half.”
Suri is often described as one of the best-dressed celebrity kids, and the “Dawson’s Creek” star reveals that mom and daughter deserve all the credit.
“I started making clothes for Suri when she was born, designing dresses, and then having seamstresses sew them, because I don’t sew very well,” Holmes says. “As a child, I was always drawing clothes, and I’ve always loved fabrics, and when Suri was born, I wanted to have certain things be from me and created just by me for her.”
Suri’s style sense is rubbing off on mom, too.
“Tom and I went to the Met ball a couple of years ago, and I had this beautiful red gown and these royal-blue shoes that I wasn’t planning on wearing, but Suri made me put them on and so I was like, ‘Okay, I trust you.’”

Suri Cruise really let her creativity loose during a play date in New York.
The four-year-old revealed blue scribbles on her skin as she headed back to the family’s apartment with her mother Katie Holmes, 31, yesterday.
The DIY design covered her bare feet and both legs, forming rather dramatic body art.
Suri, who was again wrapped in a blanket, looked sleepy as she rested on her mother’s shoulder.

Tom Cruise, who is promoting his new film Knight And Day, opened up about his family life on Good Morning America yesterday.
‘It’s not like we’re the strict parents,’ admits the actor, who is also dad to Isabella, 17, and Conor, 15.
‘We have rules, but we try to work with getting their agreement on things.’

But when it comes to her wardrobe, Suri usually manages to get her own way.
He has said: ‘She’s very much like her mother…she will not wear trousers, only dresses.’

Suri Cruise Hits The Park In A Pink Flamenco Dress and Polka Dot Heels

Like many little girls, Suri Cruise loves to dress up.
And it seems parents Tom and Katie are happy to indulge the youngster who already has a massive collection of clothes, rumoured to be worth $2million.
The latest addition to the wardrobe is a flamboyant pink flamenco dress that she wore with a new pair red polka dot heels and clip-on dangly earrings.
The three-year-old looked dressed for a party rather than a walk in the park with her doting parents so it’s no wonder she seemed a little shy.

The little girl – already one of the world’s most photographed children – seems destined to always be the centre of attention, and the Cruises seem happy to ignore for now the problems that may bring in later life.
Katie Holmes and Suri were in the Spanish city to visit Tom for the last few days if filming Knight And Day with Cameron Diaz.
He carried her proudly through the park while the youngster carried her toy kangaroo.
Katie, 30, dressed in a tweed jacket and matching shorts with tights and flat ankle boots and her hair scraped back in a ponytail.
She has come under fire for letting her daughter wear heeled shoes, which some child experts claim can harm the development of children’s feet and posture.

But Katie has defended her decision.
‘Like every little girl, she loves my high heels,’ she said.
‘They are actually ballroom dancing shoes for kids. I found them for her and she loves them,’ she said.

Parenting forums disagreed, with many mothers claiming the shoes ‘sexualised’ children and were harmful for their feet.
One parent on Mumsnet wrote: ‘Am I over-reacting or am I right in thinking that ‘celebs’ should not be leading the way in sexualising children?’

Commentators are likely to react in a similar way with Suri’s clip-on earrings.
Tom and Katie are reportedly ready to try for another child.
A friend of the star told OK magazine: ‘Katie no longer feels like she’s just Mrs. Cruise.
‘She’s her own person again. She and Tom have their disagreements, but deep down they love each other very much. That’s what is important.’

Katie Holmes: ‘Suri’s a Good Shopper’

Suri, 3, is already a budding fashionista — and Katie insists that the style choices are hers alone! “She picks them out,” Holmes tells “Extra” of the tot’s wardrobe. “She’s a very good shopper… she goes in and she knows exactly what she likes, and she picks it out.”
In addition to parenting Suri, Katie also is step-mom to Tom’s kids, Connor and Bella — but is she ready for more kids of her own? When “Extra” asked Katie about expanding her brood, the actress only laughed.
The “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” star also chatted about watching hubby Tom Cruise perform stunts on the Boston set of his flick “Wichita.” “It was exciting… I mean, it was a little scary,” Holmes admitted, “but I also know he’s so strong… and he’s doing that for that effect… so I’m like, ‘Oh my god… okay.’”

Katie Holmes and daughter Suri Cruise hit the track today in Boston

Katie Holmes has won a battle with her Scientologist husband Tom Cruise to enroll their daughter Suri in a Catholic pre-school.
The Church of Scientology has always been a bone of contention between the couple and Tom wanted three-year-old Suri to be raised a Scientologist.
But last week Katie enrolled the toddler at the Catholic Charities Yawkey Centre For Early Education And Learning in Boston, Massachusetts.
The family are living in the city while Tom, 47, films his new movie, the spy comedy thriller Wichita. Katie’s mother also flew in for her granddaughter’s first week at the pre-school.

‘Katie has been listening to her parents who are devout Catholics,’ I’m told.
‘She is not convinced by Scientology and has told Tom that she wants Suri to be educated as a Catholic – as she was.
‘They had been having huge problems agreeing on her school. To say they were having arguments is putting it mildly – but Tom came around to the idea in the end.’
Holmes, 30, has not been seen at the Church of Scientology for more than five months.
But Cruise, who was also raised Catholic but converted to Scientology in 1990, remains an ardent follower.
However, the decision does not seem to have upset the couple’s relationship.

In recent days the couple have been pictured laughing and smiling while Holmes takes their daughter to visit Cruise on his film set.
And yesterday they enjoyed a family day out at the local park.
Suri played hide and seek with her parents, slipping behind a tree. Her father than swung her around as she laughed and giggled.
The family, including Katie’s mother, then visited a cafe for cupcakes.
