Botched cosmetic procedures shattered her confidence six years ago, but Tara Reid looked happy to be back in a bikini in Las Vegas yesterday.

The American Pie actress wore a bright green string two-piece as she attended the second annual Love Festival at The Palms Casino Resort.

It’s the first time Reid has stepped out in a bathing suit since doctors corrected previous surgery that left her disfigured.

She went under the knife in 2004, but her joint liposuction and breast enhancement operation went drastically wrong.

‘It looked like I got completely butchered up,’ she later said of her enlarged cleavage, of her liposuction, Reid added: ‘I had body contouring, but it all went wrong. My stomach became the most ripply, bulgy thing.’

But she is once again comfortable in her own skin – so much so that the 34-year-old even posed for Playboy in December last year.

‘I’m relaxed,’ she told the publication at the time. ‘I’m a young woman with confidence … At the end of the day, I go to sleep knowing who I am.
‘I’m happy with my life now, and I’d like to keep it this way.’

Reid, who has seen her career stall in recent years, is due to appear in a low-budget thriller called The Fields.

Her big break came when she played the role of Bunny in The Big Lebowski, which she followed with Cruel Intentions and then the American Pie series.
A good friend of Paris Hilton, she dated MTV DJ Carson Daly in 2000 before becoming engaged in 2001.

During the filming of American Pie 2 in the same year, she was badly traumatized after the engagement was called off.

She found new love this January with German internet entrepreneur Michael Axtmann and they had planned to marry in May, however, she is said to have recently called off the wedding.

The 34-year-old actress was planning to wed internet entrepreneur Michael Axtmann in May after a whirlwind engagement, but her plans to walk down the aisle have now been axed.

A statement issued on behalf of the ‘American Pie’ star read: “Tara Reid has confirmed that she will not be moving forward with her May 22 nuptials.”

Earlier this week, Tara changed the relationship status on her page on social networking site Facebook to single, sparking speculation the nuptials were off.

However, just last month she was gushing about her wedding to the German businessman, and claimed she would look like a “princess” on her special day.

She said: “I’m going to look like a princess. I just picked out the designer – It’s Rani from St. Pucchi, and she’s like the most incredible wedding designer in the world, in my opinion.

“I want my wedding to look like a wonderland. I want it to blow people away – and also to have a fun energy.”

She also revealed she was nervous about walking up the aisle.

She said: “Seeing myself and picturing Michael at the altar, I get butterflies in my stomach.”

Tara Reid has been out of the spotlight for quite some time now, but the “American Pie” starlet now looks poised to make quite the comeback in the very near future.

Reid stripped down (apparently ALL THE WAY down) last week in a shoot for Playboy magazine’s December issue. The 33-year-old got a very bad lipo job five years ago, and has since suffered with body image issues.

“She is really shy about getting the Playboy gig,” said a pal. “She’s scared to talk about it because of what people and the press might say. But she’s doing so well, she looks amazing.”

Mind you, Reid did tell us earlier this year that she’s never even been to a nude beach and was definitely “not planning on it.”

“I only wear bikinis, I love bikinis. I don’t get too scandalous, string bikini’s only! No thongs or anything like that,” she said. (Hmmm, could a healthy paycheck changed her mind about baring her bod?)

However, word on the street is that “Real Housewives of New York” beauty Kelly Bensimon may also be flashing some flesh in the mag’s December issue, otherwise known as the annual “Celebrity” issue which in the past has featured Hollywood hotties like Kim Kardashian and Cindy Margolis.

So will there be a “real” fight between the two beauties for the coveted cover girl position?
