Todd Palin, the husband of Republican politician and former Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin, is being courted to appear as a contestant on the next series of Dancing With The Stars, just weeks after his daughter Bristol Palin made it as far as the season eleven final.

Producers of the show were so impressed with the media buzz that surrounded the 20-year-old, that they are now looking to recruit another member of the family to join for season twelve, reports E! Online.

An insider at the hit celebrity dance contest told E! that although the producer’s first choice would be Sarah, they feel this is unrealistic and therefore may approach Todd, adding, “They want him big time. They’d love Sarah, but they don’t think that will ever happen, so why not go for the dad.” The source also claims that the show is looking to persuade Meghan MCCain, daughter of presidential candidate John MCCain, to compete. Palin was controversially Mr MCCain’s running partner and vice-presidential candidate for the Republican’s unsuccessful 2008 campaign.

Despite a large public following that saw Bristol Palin reach the final three, season eleven of the show was won by the ‘Dirty Dancing’ star Jennifer Grey after a string of high-class performances that were awarded maximum scores from the judges.

Todd Palin, the husband of vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin was subpoenaed in an abuse of power probe, the Anchorage Daily News reported on Friday.

The Alaska Governor, 44, is under investigation by the state legislation for allegedly terminating Alaska’s Public Safety Commissioner, Walt Monegan, because he refused to fire her ex-brother-in-law, state trooper Michael Wooten, who was involved in a rancorous divorce and custody battle with Palin’s sister Molly.

Todd Palin, 44, was one of the 13 people who will be called to testify in the investigation, known as “troopergate,” according to the Anchorage Daily News.

Retired prosecutor Stephen Branchflower was hired in August by legislators to investigate Monegan’s dismissal.

“He’s such a central figure. … I think one should be issued for him,” Branchflower told the paper.

Branchflower said that he wants to interview Palin herself, but did not ask for a subpoena for her.

According to the Anchorage Daily News, Palin has said she fired Monegan over disagreements about budget, while Monegan claimed he received repeated e-mails and phone calls from the Palin’s expressing aggravation over Wooten’s continued employment.
