Tom Cruise turned to Jon Bon Jovi for rock star advice after signing up to play showman Stacee Jaxx in the new Rock Of Ages musical.

Cruise was keen to boost his rock ‘n’ roll credentials before taking on his first big musical role, so he asked Bon Jovi for help.

The rocker said, “He and I actually went out and he was very intense about ‘How do you do this?’

“I said, ‘Relax man, you’re Tom Cruise, you can learn how to sing a song, don’t worry about it.’”

Bon Jovi has yet to hear Cruise’s rendition of his Wanted Dead or Alive from the film, but he’s confident it’ll be a show-stopping performance.

The real rocker adds, “I’m confident that Tom Cruise singing Wanted Dead or Alive will be in the trailer.”

He’s the clean-cut family man that usually wears conservative clothing as he walks the red carpet and dotes on wife Katie Holmes and daughter Suri.

But in his latest film role, Tom Cruise is barely recognizable as a rock god.

The 48-year-old is tattooed and incredibly toned as he goes shirtless to play Stacee Jaxx in Rock of Ages.
The film, due for release next year, is about a girl who arrives in Hollywood at the height of the 1980s rock scene.

In a film still, which was posted on his website, the actor is seen with a rippling torso as he rocks out in just a pair of black skin-tight jeans, motorcycle boots and a studded belt.

His hair is long, a look many of the heavy metals rockers wore back in the era of the 80s.

Tom also makes the ‘sign of the horn’, a hand gesture popular with rockers all over the world.

And it appears that Tom’s new role has found him a fan in wife Katie.

The 32-year-old recently revealed that she thought Tom’s voice was great.

”Tom is such an amazing performer. Yes, we have music in our house and it’s amazing,’ she told Access Hollywood.

It wasn’t exactly the view they had expected from the 124th floor of the world’s tallest building.

As they looked out from the observation deck of the 2,717ft skyscraper, Ben Mathew and his family were suddenly confronted by Tom Cruise – dangling in mid-air outside the window.

The 48-year-old Hollywood star, suspended by several safety wires, was filming a stunt for Mission: Impossible IV.

The scene sees him chasing another actor around the outside of the Burj Khalifa Tower in Dubai.

Mr Mathew, who lives in Dubai, said: ‘My sister Caitlin is visiting from our home town of Norwich. I told her I was going to show her something really special and took her to the tower with my wife and kids.

‘When we got there we saw this pair of legs outside and assumed it must be a very brave window cleaner. Then Caitlin shouted, “That’s Tom Cruise!” I said, “Don’t be ridiculous”, but sure enough, it was. I grabbed my camera and he smiled and laughed.

‘He was cool as a cucumber. Anyone brave enough to film up the Burj Khalifa Tower deserves a Hollywood pay check’

The Hollywood superstar has been offered a supporting role in the movie version of the hit Broadway musical, although he is yet to sign up.

Cruise has been asked to play a bartender and would get to sing some classic rock songs from the 80s, which appear in the musical.

The musical features songs from Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Steve Perry, Poison and Asia.

It is expected to be directed by Adam Shankman and is set for release next year, Deadline.com reports.

This isn’t the only movie role being lined up for Cruise.

It was recently reported he is set to star in ‘Top Gun 2′ and will play a smaller role in the film than he did in the in the original movie, where he starred as pilot Maverick.

Cruise, 48, was most recently seen in action comedy ‘Knight and Day’ alongside Cameron Diaz, and is currently filming his fourth inception as Ethan Hunt for ‘Mission: Impossible IV’.

The actors – who previously starred together in 1992 movie ‘A Few Good Men’ – are reportedly planning to appear in forthcoming comedy ‘El Presidente’, with Tom already believed to be attached and Jack considering an offer.

The film follows a dedicated Secret Service agent – to be played by Tom – who is dispatched to guard America’s former president, the role currently being considered by Jack.

The agent’s day-to-day job is boring – until a serious threat is made on his client’s life and they are forced to go on the run.

Dan Goor is writing the script for Warner Bros.

No other announcements have yet been made about the film, with the studio so far refusing to comment on the casting speculation.

The project was first announced on Monday, with reports suggesting an “unnamed A-list actor” would play the agent and “a former co-star” the president, and several sources have confirmed Tom and Jack are the names in the frame.
