Last night, WE tv hosted an advance screening and reception at NYC’s Tribeca Grand to celebrate the second season of their hit show “BRAXTON FAMILY VALUES,” which premieres tomorrow (Nov. 10). Gorgeous sisters Tamar, Trina, Towanda, Traci and mom “Miss E” were in high spirits as they graced the red carpet along with veteran R&B singer Meli’sa Morgan, television and radio personality Egypt Sherrod (WBLS), celeb wedding planner Diann Valentine (WE tv’s “I Do Over”), American Idol finalist Anwar Robinson, actress Keesha Sharp (TBS’ “Are We There Yet?,” “Girlfriends”) and NY socialite Bevy Smith. John Miller, WE tv’s senior VP of production, was on hand to intro the screening, where the Braxtons and 100 of their guests got their first look at the premiere episode. Count on plenty of fireworks and family drama this season, the sisters maintained during the post-screening Q&A. “I promise you’ll love it!” said Trina.

Earlier that day, the Braxton clan stopped by the Time Inc building for a screening and Q&A with the members of BE@T (Black Employees at Time), hosted by PEOPLE Magazine’s Carlos Greer.

Press mobbed the four Braxton sisters on the red carpet last night at WEtv’s celebration of the November 10 premiere of their hit series, “Braxton Family Values.” But there was one notable absence at the Tribeca Grand soiree: fifth sister and Grammy Award-winning recording artist Toni Braxton.

During a Q&A session following the screening with Tamar, Trina, Traci, Towanda and Braxton matriarch Evelyn, TV & Radio personality Egypt Sherrod asked the question that was on everyone’s mind: “Where’s Toni??” The audience erupted with grumbles and claps, and after a hesitant pause by the Braxton panel, one audience member shouted out in support “Everyone is thinking the same thing!” Tamar was first to chime in, with the sass in her voice that has made her the Braxton-to-watch, “I don’t know.”

Traci came to Toni’s defense, “If it weren’t for Toni, there wouldn’t be Braxton (Family Values). She is a star unto herself.” Evelyn said that Toni was en route to NYC, and added “Toni is the reason we are here. She is an icon.”

Braxton Family Values premieres Thursday, November 10 at 9pm ET/PT on WE tv.

Gearing up for the anticipated second season of WE tv’s hit show BRAXTON FAMILY VALUES, the Braxtons made several appearances in Atlanta this week that included a stop at Spelman College’s Homecoming and an intimate dinner with local press. On Wed, Tamar, Trina, Towanda and Traci (Toni was in LA filming) screened the new season’s premiere episode for 300 Spelman students and participated in a lively Q&A that ended in a brief a capella song by the Braxtons.

New ATL hotspot Frank Ski’s Restaurant played host to a private dinner with the Braxtons which included an episode screening and Q&A. Attendees – which included everyone from CNN, Associated Press, CBS Radio, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, 11Alive, Bossip to Jezebel/The Atlantan, JUICY, StraightfromtheA and many more – enjoyed calamari, fish tacos, short ribs and red velvet cupcakes. The Braxton sisters along with Mom Evelyn (aka “Miss E”) were all smiles and laughs as they dished on life after the first season, their love lives, upcoming album projects and that feisty Tamar! As Miss E put it, “You’ll have to watch and see what happens!”

What do you get when you mix a quintet of opinionated women with celebrity, money and a television camera? You get WE tv’s new 10 episode one-hour original series, BRAXTON FAMILY VALUES, premiering Tuesday April 12 at 9pm ET/PT.

Join Toni – “The Superstar”, Traci – “The Underdog,” Towanda – “Mrs. Congeniality,” Trina – “The Wildcard,” Tamar – “Baby” and their headstrong mother Evelyn – “The Force,” as they yell, cry and harmonize their way across the Braxton family stage. These tight-knit sisters are not afraid to reveal the intricacies of their sisterhood as they battle it out for the spotlight with sibling rivalry, man drama, bankruptcy, a DUI and much more. See if their sisterly bond can withstand the trials and tribulations of life in the fab lane.

Like their famous sister Toni Braxton, Traci, Towanda, Trina and Tamar were all blessed with the gift of song and shared that gift as a group called “The Braxtons,” managed by their mom Evelyn. Fast forward a few years, and Toni Braxton is a mega-star with hit song after hit song and too many accolades to count; Traci has an unexpected pregnancy; Towanda decides to pursue acting; Trina becomes back-up for Toni and a “wedding singer;” and Tamar strikes out on her own to chase her rising star. Mom Evelyn also experienced change when she divorced the love of her life, the girls’ father, for his chronic philandering. With their worlds turned upside-down, and the meteoric rise of Toni’s fame, the family had to dramatically adjust to life after stardom.

Toni Braxton is now fighting her way back to the top. After battling debilitating illnesses that left her out of the spotlight, she’s looking to regain her status in the industry. She enlists the help of her sisters, but the drama they bring proves to be too much at times. As Traci dreams of rejoining her famous sister on stage as a background singer, Tamar wants nothing to do with the background. She wants to be front and center and isn’t afraid to let everyone know that “doo-whoppin” for Toni is not what she needs. Towanda wants nothing more than to escape life as Toni’s assistant, but Toni doesn’t seem ready to give her up and shuns any new assistant that she gets. Trina wants to be respected for her choices as a musician, even if that includes performing with a cover-band, but her sisters can’t believe that makes her happy and make fun of her for it.

As if the sibling drama weren’t enough, the sisters have to deal with turmoil erupting in their personal lives. From Toni’s bankruptcy problems and Traci’s possessive husband to Towanda’s lackadaisical marriage, Trina’s problem drinking and Tamar’s misdirected issues with everyone – the trouble never ends with this bunch. Yet through it all, they’ll have each other’s back and prove that even though they fight hard, they love harder. BRAXTON FAMILY VALUES will unveil the realities of sisterhood and dispel the myth that money solves everything.

Toni Braxton, the Grammy-winning singer of “Un-Break My Heart” and “You’re Makin’ Me High,” will appear in “Braxton Family Values” on the WE network starting in April. Braxton’s sisters – Traci, Towanda, Trina and Tamar – are all aspiring singers.

The WE network appeals chiefly to women, and with Oprah Winfrey’s new OWN network going on the air last weekend, it is looking to sharpen its focus for viewers. The network said it will emphasize programs that feature families.

WE executives said they will also renew the series “Downsized,” about a family struggling through tough economic times. “Staten Island Cakes,” which is repetitive of other cable reality programs about high-end bakers, will debut this summer. The show is about a 21-year-old baker whose mother and sister work for him – and who is bossed by them at home.

The dynamic of four women trying to follow the 43-year-old Braxton into show business – with varying levels of success – appealed to WE executives. The network’s research indicated that programs about families, often with a humorous touch, is a niche worth exploring.

On Jan. 25, WE is debuting a series about Joan Rivers and daughter, Melissa, along with “A Stand Up Mother,” about comedian Tammy Pescatelli trying to balance family and career.

“Our goal is to put on families that are big personalities, who are interesting, entertaining, full of drama and conflict and you can’t wait to tune in next week,” Kim Martin, the network’s president and general manager, said recently.

WE believes family members who are emotionally invested in one another will make for situations that ring truer than reality fare where strangers are forced together in contrived circumstances, said John Miller, the network’s programming chief.

“Our goal is not to look at family viewing,” Martin said. “Our goal is to show families, because women define themselves by the relationships in their lives.”

Viewers relate to the family in “Downsized,” particularly the boy who sold his baseball mitt to raise money, Martin said. The show’s audience was about twice the size of what WE had previously aired on Saturday nights, she said.

Toni Braxton’s financial woes are mounting after the R&B star allegedly fell behind with tax payments, according to a new report.

The Un-Break My Heart singer and her estranged husband Kierston Lewis have been hit with a demand from U.S. tax officials, who filed a $396,000 lien against the couple on March 26, 2010, reports the Detroit News.

Braxton and Lewis, who separated last year, are said to owe income taxes from 2007 and 2008.

Braxton is facing a number of financial difficulties – she is being sued by bank officials who claim she owes them $900,000 in loan payments. She was also reported to have defaulted on her mortgage payments last year.

Soul star Toni Braxton will have to rely on medications for the rest of her life to control her ongoing heart problems.

The Unbreak My Heart hitmaker was hospitalized in April 2008 after experiencing complications relating to microvascular angina – a condition which causes inadequate blood flow through the cardiac blood vessels.

Braxton has refused to let her health issues affect her work – she’s set to release a new album and go on tour later this year.

But the singer reveals she is dependent on medication to help her lead a normal life.

She says, “I was diagnosed with a congenital heart disease and the doctor told me the cure was a a heart transplant, so we had to go over donors to see if I qualified. I never knew so much detail went into getting a transplant of any type. It’s a good thing I (got a second opinion), because they misdiagnosed me. They told me I’d had a petite heart attack instead, so I was like, ‘OK, wahoo!’

“It can just happen for no reason. People can have perfectly good blood pressure but all of a sudden they complain of chest pains and they find that they have this angina. I’ll be on some medications for the rest of my life but I can live a normal life. It hasn’t stopped me.”

On the Friday, November 20th edition of The Wendy Williams Show (syndicated, check your local listings) Wendy opened her studio phone lines to multi-platinum Grammy award winning singer Toni Braxton.

Braxton took time out of her busy recording schedule to join Wendy for an exclusive chat about the rumors surrounding her marriage, the kiss with fellow R & B singer Trey Songz on stage at the Soul Train Awards and to give an exclusive first look at her new video “Yesterday” from her forthcoming untitled album, slated to release in 2010.
