· Chats about her thoughts on cheating and how she “had the flaw”
· Her relationship with now husband Tom Vitale, how her 2nd marriage is different, and how “old ghosts” of ex’s affect her current relationship (Valerie was married to Eddie Van Halen).
· Discusses her public 40lb weight loss and how she is keeping it off
The TV Land star also chats about life on the “Hot in Cleveland” set and how all the women (including Emmy nominated spark-plug Betty White) keep each other laughing. [NOTE—“Hot in Cleveland” is also an official winner of Prevention’s “HealthyTV Awards”! The “Hot in Cleveland” divas are all 50 and over—and fabulous!]
Valerie is on our September cover, on newsstands now. See below for some quotes from her in-book interview.
In-Book Q&A:
On the importance of her owning being fifty-one:
“I’ve been around so long I can’t lie about it. It’s an old cliché, but you really do get better as you age. I wish I had the body and the face of that twenty-year-old. I’m so glad I don’t have her brain.”
On why she thinks men cheat:
“Why do women cheat? I don’t know. It’s a flaw in character. I had that flaw, and all it does is make you feel like crap. I never, ever want to feel that feeling again. It destroyed the trust between me and my first husband [musician Eddie Van Halen].”
On marriage with Tom last January after being together for 6 years:
“The relationship is the same, but it feels different. Making a commitment with our preacher and all our family there just means more. Something digs down deeper into your heart.”
On whether a second marriage presents new issues:
“We have the old ghosts of our previous marriages that we have to work through. Certain words might trigger what he’s heard in the past.”
