Biff! Bam! Boom!

Imitating Super Bowl hero Drew Brees, rifle-armed David Letterman fired a pass to his show’s stage manager Monday that sent him to the hospital.

“I caught it,” Biff Henderson declared weakly after snagging the spiral and falling off the stage almost into in the laps of stunned “Late Show” audience members.

The crew were killing time, waiting for Brees, the New Orleans Saints quarterback, to arrive and tossing the pigskin when Henderson, 63, took his tumble.

Before he knew Henderson was hurt, Letterman quipped, “I can smell a lawsuit.”

But he turned grim when Henderson complained he couldn’t move one of his knees.

“They cut the cameras and and the band played for about 20 minutes and that’s how we all knew it was serious.” said Sheva Oliver, 29, from Rockland County.

Medics soon arrived and wheeled Henderson out, strapped to a gurney.

“We all cheered for him as he left,” she said.

“Dave looked upset,” said Fred Kaplan, 63 from The Bronx. “Biff looked alert and waved to us from the gurney.”

Brees, who was hung up in Lincoln Tunnel traffic, arrived as Henderson ambulance was being put into the ambulance to Roosevelt Hospital.

Henderson was treated in the ER Monday night and released.

Back inside the Ed Sullivan theater, as things settled down, one fan said Letterman told the crowd: “The show must go on.”

And it did.
